Things to remember

Here are the really important things to remember about feeding babies 9–11 months of age:

You should try to feed your baby at least 4 food groups every day, and all food color groups each week, except for the Dairy and Dairy Products food group (animal milk). Babies should not have dairy or dairy products until they are 12 months old.

• Remember to continue to breastfeed your baby while you are introducing foods. You should feed your baby who is 9–11 months on demand. That means, whenever they want.

• At 9–11 months, your baby is able to chew many different types of textures. See the chart at the right for examples of appropriate ways to prepare your child’s food. Try to include these different textures in their food, it will help prepare them for family foods.
