45thGraduation Ceremony

It’s that time of year again—graduation—that momentous occasion that signifies both endings and new beginnings. Today, we gather to celebrate the Class of 2025, a class that has embraced the spirit of community and carried it forward through every endeavor. This year, as the UAE dedicates itself to the Year of Community, we take pride in a generation of graduates who embody unity, compassion, and collective achievement.

For 45 years, Al Mawakeb has nurtured generations of learners who have left their mark, excelling in academics and service to others. They have distinguished themselves academically and in Advanced Placement (AP) courses and all forms of assessments. However, their most significant achievements are not solely reflected in their results but are defined by their commitment to creating a meaningful impact. Beyond their academic aptitude, they have led with integrity, embracing humanitarian causes, reaching out to the less fortunate, and standing by those in need. From participating in charity drives, building wells, and Ramadan campaigns such as “Al Meer Al Ramadani” to visiting senior homes and orphanages, they have shown us that the essence of community is not just in words but in action.

Beyond service, they have demonstrated remarkable prowess on national and international platforms. Their talents have illuminated prestigious exhibitions and competitions such as AUS Sharakah, MakeX Robotics Competition in China, and KUNST Matrix International Exhibition in Berlin. They have engaged in spirited debates in Model United Nations (MUN), Al Mawakeb Research Center, and Model Federal National Council (MFNC), sharpening their leadership skills and voicing their concerns on regional and global issues. Their dedication has earned them accolades in the Arab Reading Challenge, Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature, and national-level sports, proving that intellectual and physical excellence go hand in hand.

Graduation is not a farewell. It is a transition into an ever-growing community that extends far beyond these school grounds. Al Mawakeb remains steadfast, a network of support that never fades. Through AMSI Voices and the AMSI Alumni Association, our graduates continue to inspire, guide, and uplift one another. They return as mentors, leaders, and lifelong members of a family who believes in their potential. Once an Al Mawakeb student, always an Al Mawakeb student.

This is the spirit of the Year of Community—a legacy of shared success, giving back, and forging bonds that transcend time and space.

Class of 2025, as you step forward, carry the values instilled within you. Be fearless in your pursuits, kind in your interactions, and determined in your dedication to making a difference. Seek knowledge, embrace diversity, and never forget the strength that lies in unity. Your journey is just beginning, and the world awaits your contributions. No matter where you go, remember that you are always part of this family that believes in you, celebrates you, and stands by you today and always.

Congratulations, Class of 2025!

So many skilled orators...

So many skilled orators gathered to gain the opportunity to speak on behalf of their classmates. This was their chance to express their feelings, happiness, gratitude and anxiety about leaving this familiar home to seek new accomplishments. As usual, the judges had the challenging task of choosing the best, and the best were many, for all of them spoke words from the heart. So many impressed and dazzled with their sincerity, confidence, and maturity. The scores were close, but finalists were finally selected.

Again, more rigorous auditions took place, but finally our anxious finalists rushed to hear the results. Sounds of murmurs, beating hearts and sighs filled the room but only to be later replaced by wonderful smiles expressing how honored and fulfilled they felt at having been chosen.

We are very proud of our finalists, and we hope that their voices will echo in the future and provide inspiration for aspiring AMSI orators.

Reem Daou - G12C, Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud

Merci.

So many skilled orators...

Ralph Hanna - G12D, Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud

School is an unbearably long journey, and as this journey ends, I’d like to tell you all about this insight I had while going through it. School is a community, an ecosystem of different people who hold up each other like roofbeams. This isn’t some life-changing discovery; it’s not like I reinvented the wheel, but it is essential, as it profoundly impacted my life. I was often too stubborn to accept the support of others, valuing my independence because ‘I just worked better alone’, but it would always come back to bite me. In the long run, I had to let go of my ego and come to appreciate the security that a community gave me. And on an endnote, no great person was a lone thinker; they had to build on the feedback of others and the ideas of their communities, just like we did and are doing right now.

Reem Mohamed - 12C, Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud

To my mom and dad, you gave me life, and to my school, you gave me the wings to navigate it. We always nagged that 2025 seemed so far away, yet here we are, reminiscing about memories like they were yesterday. Today, we got out of our cars one last time, stepped through the school gates one last time, and took our seats one last time. I look around with a melancholic gaze, trying not to let this stage of my life slip through my fingers so quickly. I wish I could say I’m overjoyed, but bittersweetness overcomes me; 14 years of my life are coming to a halt. This school taught me that being part of a community is more than belonging; it’s about contributing, supporting, and growing together. I experienced this first-hand in MUN, and I can’t wait to give back to the world the lessons I learned through my school.

As we celebrate this milestone, we recognize that textbooks alone didn’t shape our growth. It was shaped by the friendships that supported us, the teamwork that strengthened us, the kindness that uplifted us, and the mentorship that guided us. Through teamwork, we learned that success is never achieved alone. Whether in group projects or sports activities, we realized that the best results come when we lift each other. Through kindness, we learned that even the smallest gestures, a word of encouragement, or even a helping hand can change someone’s path. And through mentorship, we found teachers and mentors believing in us, even when we doubted ourselves. These experiences have prepared us for life beyond high school. They have taught us resilience, empathy, and hard work. As we step into the future, we carry these lessons with us, knowing that true success is not just about what we achieve but how we achieve it because, in the end, we rise by lifting others. That is the greatest lesson of all.

Yousef Hafez - G12D, Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud

So many skilled orators...

I distinctly remember the day I was informed I would be head of the Al Mawakeb Research Center. I will never forget the sudden shift I felt, the grasp of an initiative much larger than me, the pull of a community of creativity and research within these walls. This pivotal experience allowed me to take on a newfound leadership position and a responsibility to guide my classmates. In contributing to this initiative, I taught, supported, and pushed every member.

If I could talk to myself three years ago, I would say to have faith in your abilities for those around you. And talking to myself three years from now, I confidently urge you to continue being loud, persistent, and true to yourself no matter what.

Yamin El Hakawati - G12B, Al Mawakeb Al Garhoud

I have always believed that academic success is built on a strong foundation supported by four key pillars: patience, family, opportunity, and love. This school has provided me with a bulletproof foundation, shaping me into who I am today. As I pursue a medical career, Al Mawakeb has prepared me by fostering collaboration with my peers through various challenges, helping me develop essential skills. It has exposed me to global issues, teaching me to look beyond academics and recognize that there is more than what meets the eye. The school has also given me opportunities to be part of this close-knit community and take on leadership roles, such as spearheading my project on spreading literacy across different areas of learning. Through this initiative, I learned how to engage people’s interests, follow up on commitments, and effectively spread awareness while promoting such an important skill. Because of this foundation, I stand before you today with a smile and passion, proud to graduate from Al Mawakeb.

Not many people know the origin of the term, “Al Mawakeb” or the meaning it holds. It is the Arabic word for “processions”, and it comes from a Gibran Khalil Gibran poem. The poem speaks of communities of people advancing toward enlightenment in resilience and unity. Is there a phrase more fitting to capture the essence of what makes our school special? As my graduating class “proceeds” forward on our individual futures, we will never forget the special community we’ve found here. Although we leave behind its walls, we each carry a piece of its beating heart. When we return home one day to pay tribute to our younger selves, may we be better people for remembering where our journey began. Thank you – for everything.

Ghala Alkubaisi - G12C, Al Mawakeb Al Barsha

When you spend your life in transit, you stop expecting stability. You become a visitor in your own story, watching, observing, but never truly settling. But Al-Mawakeb was different. Here, I wasn’t just another passing face. I was seen. It didn’t just welcome me; it gave me a true purpose. I learned, true belonging isn’t just about being accepted—it’s about contributing. We are Al-Mawakeb—not just a motto, but a promise. Here, we push boundaries. We dream beyond limits, and we never let fear steal our opportunities because the fear of embarrassment is the thief of opportunity. We grew—not just in achievements, but as leaders, mentors, and family. Now, we leave not as individuals, but as a legacy. Because we are Al-Mawakeb—not just in name, but in heart.

Abdelrahman Al Kassab - G12H, Al Mawakeb Al Barsha

The future will be for those who will be able to imagine, design and build it, the future does not wait, the future can be designed and built today.” Merci, Al Mawakeb, pour ces années inoubliables. Félicitations à nous tous ! L’avenir nous appartient!

So many skilled orators...

Four years ago, we took our first steps into high school. I recognized the faces, the classrooms, and the laughter filling the halls. Even in a place I had known for years, this step felt different—it carried the promise of growth and the journey of discovering who we were meant to be. As we step beyond these halls, we carry the voices that will forever echo. To our teachers, thank you for standing by and believing in us. You pushed us through challenges and reminded us of our strength. Your lessons will forever be engraved in our brains and hearts. To the two who matter most, my parents, thank you for your encouragement and faith. Your steady guidance helped me reach this milestone. To my fellow graduates, this may be the end of our time as students at Al Mawakeb, but not the end of our story. The values we’ve learned—honesty, respect, and commitment—will guide us forward. Wherever life takes us, let’s not be strangers. Al Mawakeb will always be our common ground, helping us navigate the journey ahead.

High school was more than just assignments and exams. It was the friendships that lifted us during tough times, and there were many. The teamwork taught us the power of unity and kindness, reminding us that success is measured not just by grades but by our impact on others. Our teachers and mentors guided us with knowledge and wisdom that will stay with us beyond these walls. Through every challenge, we learned that we grow best when we grow together. These experiences have prepared us not only for university and careers but for life itself. As we step into the future, let us not just carry forward the lessons of calculus and physics but also the more important lessons of compassion, collaboration, and resilience. Let us not just chase success; let us inspire it in others.

Abdulrahman Al Awadhi - G12B, Al Mawakeb Al Khawaneej

Being a student in Al Mawakeb is more than just attending classes. It is carrying the values of hard work, integrity, and unity wherever we go. As we step into the future, we carry this identity with pride, knowing that no matter where life takes us, we will always be part of the Al Mawakeb family. High school has taught us many things—algebra, literature, physics—but its greatest lesson has been the importance of community. A defining experience that shaped my understanding of giving back was when Al Mawakeb students welcomed the older generation into our community. What began as a simple effort to bridge generations became something much greater. It was a powerful reminder that education has no age limit and that a true community means always having a place to return to. We leave here today as graduates and individuals who understand the power of giving back. No matter where life takes us—whether in a classroom, a football field, or on a ski slope—let’s embrace our beloved community that we have been building since 1979.

Abdallah Albalushi - G12D, Al Mawakeb Al Khawaneej

My years at Al Mawakeb taught me something invaluable: High school isn’t just about academics—it’s about the people who walked this path with us. Every tough exam, late-night study session, and group project that tested our patience, we faced it all together. In those moments, we discovered something far greater than grades: the friendships that turned classmates into family. We learned that success isn’t just about grades, but it is about the kindness we gave, the memories we made, and how we carried one another through moments that tested our courage. As we enter the next chapter, we carry more than just memories but the unbreakable bonds that strengthened us. With these connections, I am sure we’ll conquer whatever lies ahead. To our amazing teachers, thank you for your patience, guidance, and belief in us even when we doubted ourselves. To our families, thank you for your unwavering support and love and for always being our greatest cheerleaders. Class of 2025, today isn’t just a farewell; it’s a celebration of everything we’ve been through. Wherever life takes us, we’ll always remain connected by the friendships we built and the journey we shared.

A special

Home for14 Years Al Mawakeb

Among the class of 2025, there exists an exceptional cohort of students who warrant special recognition – a group that has called Al Mawakeb their home for the past 14 years.

We still remember as they walked in, clutching their parents’ hands, battling tears and apprehension, only to be swiftly embraced by a wave of excitement—a sense of security, camaraderie, and personal growth.

We watched as they commenced their journey of self-discovery, transitioning from curious 4-year-olds to confident, knowledgeable, and resourceful adolescents with a resounding voice and presence.

While many see school as a place for education and growth, for those who have spent 14 transformative years here, Al Mawakeb has become a sanctuary, holding memories that have shaped them into the individuals they are today. Walking through the bustling hallways brimming with student life, they realize the depth of their connection to this place they call home. They are part of a family that began many years ago, united when they stepped through those school doors for the first time. Today, they are about to start a new chapter. Their bond with their school will endure, and the memories they carry within them will forever keep them connected.
