With all of its 158 acres within a short walk of the coast, ZUMA Wellness Center, Caliza Pool and Restaurant, the 20-acre Nature Preserve, pocket parks, the ownerexclusive Beach Club and the Town Center’s shops and restaurants, Alys Beach is a New Urbanist town built for community, relationships, connection, and for making memories around its most sought-after amenity, the Gulf beach.
Known for its striking, white, Bermuda-influenced architecture with exotic and thoughtful detail, Alys Beach is designed for legacy, built to meet the highest standards of the Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS), and the first community in the U.S. to receive full certification as Fortified for Safer Living®. Community building and cultural engagement are among the core tenants of Alys Beach, integral to its New Urbanist masterplan. By design, Alys Beach aims to bring families and friends together year after year, generation after generation, drawing this community into its common spaces or the “public” realm that exists outside the walls of the private residences. Alys Beach Town Center is the pulse of this activity, drawing in the larger community with the shops and restaurants that line the Amphitheatre. Throughout the year, the Amphitheatre and the collection of common spaces, from pocket parks to pedestrian paths, are activated by a very robust, very dimensional events program.
Carefully and thoughtfully coordinated by a team of tenured events professionals, the events programming includes a variety of initiatives.
• SIGNATURE EVENTS underwritten by the Alys Foundation include the 30A Wine Festival, Digital Graffiti, and Alys Beach Crafted. These ticketed collections of events are very popular with Alys Beach homeowners, who receive first option for ticket purchases, and highly coveted by the general public. Sinfonia Goes Pops, our Memorial Day symphony concert event, is also a Signature Event presented by the Alys Foundation and is held as a complimentary public event in the Town Center Amphitheatre. These events present opportunities to host complimentary experiences so that merchants can engage those audiences coming in for the big festival activities.
• SEASONAL EVENTS , which are open to the public, include Easter Weekend, Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks, Fall Festival, Alys in Winter Wonderland, and a collection of seasonal events and activities held in the Amphitheatre during the spring break season and throughout the summer (Adventures in Alys with
the REP Theatre, Tie-Dye T-shirt making, REP Theatre performances, Alys Improv with the REP, Concerts, Art in Alys, and movie nights). These public events are great opportunities for our merchants to engage with the larger community by adjusting hours or creating special experiences that encourage eventgoers to patronize their businesses.
• YEAR-ROUND EXPERIENCES such as the themed wine and spirits “Supper Club Series” dinners, “Be the Maker” workshops, and wellness-centered mixers are held for homeowners and rental guests. Occasionally, tickets to these experiences are also made available for public purchase.
• HOMEOWNER WEEKENDS take place annually, are comprised of celebrations and meetings, and often inspire merchant pop-ups and trunk shows to connect with this homeowner audience.
Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach is a one-of-a-kind projection art festival where artists use the latest digital technologies to project their original works onto the iconic white walls of Alys Beach. Featured in National Geographic’s “24 Unconventional Art Destinations Around the World,“ this immersive art experience is sometimes referred to as “Photon Bombing,” “Guerrilla Projection” or “Urban Projection.” Artists around the globe have been using the latest design, animation and projection technologies for many years to cast dynamic images onto skyscrapers and other urban structures as a means of artistic expression. Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach is a festival geared towards bringing these artists together in one place to celebrate and showcase their unique talents in a stunning coastal community recently dubbed the third most beautiful small town by Architectural Digest.
Each year, the festival attracts digital artists, filmmakers, interactive designers, photographers and fans of art, design, technology, and architecture. Thousands of dollars in cash prizes are awarded to artists, with digital submissions being received from as far away as Israel, Austria, Canada, Germany, London, India, France, Italy and China.
Alys Beach Crafted is the newest festival hosted by the Alys Foundation, celebrating craft beer, spirited cocktails, fine food, and skilled makers & craftsmen. Alys Beach Crafted aims to tell the stories of crafted beverages, culinary experiences, artistry, and workmanship. Crafted is a weekend of events, a gathering of masters of food and drink and renowned artisans from around the country sharing the process, the inspiration, and the product of their craft.
Taking place in the fall, guests can enjoy a curated artisan walkabout open to the public both Friday and Saturday, the Firkin Fête on Friday evening featuring craft beers, followed by craft cocktail seminars and a craft cocktail walkabout on Saturday evening. Proceeds of Alys Beach Crafted benefit the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County.
The 30A Wine Festival, underwritten by The Alys Foundation, showcases renowned distillers, vintners, and culinary favorites over five days of celebration – a series of events where wine enthusiasts and bourbon lovers alike relish in the festivities within the captivating town of Alys Beach. All proceeds from the festival benefit the Children’s Volunteer Health Network, a local charity which provides health services to uninsured or underinsured school children in Walton and Okaloosa Counties.
The festival is comprised of a collection of both intimate, small events and large-scale, extravagant events. Wine and spirits dinners transport festival goers with themed productions tucked away in Alys Beach’s pocket parks, loggias, and green spaces. A Mixology Seminar shares tricks of the trade, the Oysters and Champagne event is a long-standing celebratory favorite, and the Gospel Brunch is a newcomer building a loyal following. Bourbon, Beer & Butts is a lively, casual evening and the Grand Tasting is a luxurious, lavishly crafted wine tasting experience with culinary treats and live entertainment. The festival culminates in the Rosé & Croquet event over brunch, rosé tasting, and a competitive croquet tournament. A silent auction accompanies the festival events, as well, with all proceeds benefiting the Children’s Volunteer Health Network.
