Elizabeth Armstrong Arnold, ‘71 Alumnae Award The Alumnae Award is given to a graduate whose life embodies the teaching and spirit of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Sisters of Charity, putting her Mother Seton education to use for the benefit of the human community through professional achievement and/or significant volunteer initiatives.

Following graduation from Mother Seton Regional High School, Liz entered Douglass College at Rutgers University, receiving an undergraduate degree in Art History and Philosophy in 1975. Liz received the Master of Library Service from Rutgers in 1990 and spent her career developing digital libraries for pharmaceutical and healthcare companies.

Beyond her impressive career in information management, Liz has used her skills in developing team spirit and strategies to put people, process, and technology in place to support our school. Her leadership in impressive charitable initiatives has significantly impacted the growth and mission of our school.

Liz credits her love of learning, exploring, and taking on new challenges with the strong foundation she received at MSR. This fostered her desire to give back to Mother Seton. Liz began organizing class reunions with the help of an amazing committee re-connecting with classmates.

The Class of 1971 has committed to raising funds through the Tuition Angels program to assist young women in experiencing the academic excellence of a MSR education.

Liz retired in 2016 and soon moved to North Carolina where she enjoys having more time to volunteer and acclimate to her new home state. Her philosophy, which follows, keeps her heart firmly planted in these halls of truth and knowledge. “Each and every one of us can make a difference in the lives of these amazing, talented, young women, and ensure that, in the words of Anne Lorusso Cascone, there will always be a Mother Seton.”

Ms. Arnold’s professional achievements, extensive volunteer work, and her profound generosity is a testament to the values enhanced by her years at Mother Seton Regional. Liz has become a role model for those who follow her at our beloved Alma Mater. We are proud to call her a Seton sister and we happily induct Liz Arnold to the Hall of Fame and honor her as a staunch and generous ally to our school.

Catherine Patla Paris, ‘71 Alumnae Award The Alumnae Award is given to a graduate whose life embodies the teaching and spirit of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton and the Sisters of Charity, putting her Mother Seton education to use for the benefit of the human community through professional achievement and/or significant volunteer initiatives.

Catherine Patla Paris graduated from Mother Seton Regional High School in 1971 and has gone on to enjoy a successful career as a physical therapist. Her college degree was from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey, and after graduating there, she went on to the University of Pennsylvania for a Certificate in Physical Therapy. She continued her education to receive a Masters of Medical Science degree (MMSc) from Emory University and a Doctor of Health Services (DHSc) from University of Saint Augustine. Her expertise and many publications in the content of extremity examination and treatment are admired and used throughout her professional sphere.

Yet, throughout her educational journey, Catherine held fond memories of her time at Mother Seton and was inspired by the education she received here. Through her foundation she has gifted one of the largest donations to Mother Seton Regional HS. Catherine has directed her gift specifically for young women requiring financial assistance for tuition.

She established the Catherine Paris foundation to create a philanthropic means to support education and health endeavors.

Catherine speaks of her memories and inspiration for this act of generosity. “As we mature in life, looking back on our past-experience, and those situations that have inspired us, can be a worthwhile selfreflection exercise. Looking back on my educational and personal developments, I give high regards to Mother Seton Regional High School for enhancing my foundations for learning, values of friendships, determination for self-direction, and leadership. My inspiration for my gift to MSR is to be able to assist other women to experience some of the pleasure that I have been able to have.”

“My fondest memories from MSR are several including the comradery of women kinship, an attribute that I know MSR will be able to enhance to all her graduates. My enjoyment of learning is a striking element of my days at MSR that has stood strong in my life. The role of self-direction and leadership is a strength I know I gained from the four years at MSR.” Catherine’s life thus far-- including professional achievements, volunteer work, athletic endeavors and the profound generosity demonstrated to our Alma Mater--is a testament to the values imbued by her parents and deepened by a Mother Seton Regional education.

We are proud to call her a Seton sister and induct her into the Hall of Fame.

Thomas Moran Faculty Award The Faculty Award is given to a current or former Mother Seton faculty member who is a Master Teacher, but more importantly, who teaches the meaning of “Seton Spirit” by example.

Mr. Thomas Moran graduated from Matawan Regional High School and went on to study at Kean University. He joined the faculty of Mother Seton in the fall of 2000 teaching Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science.

Tom is a very dedicated coach spending many hours with the successful MSR sports teams - 25 seasons of Volleyball, 22 seasons of Basketball, and 22 seasons of Softball. He was inducted into the New Jersey Sports Coaches Association (NJSCA) Hall of Fame in 2015. As coach of the MSR Volleyball team, he led the squad to 9 Division Championships, 1 State Sectional Championship, 2 conference runner up seasons, and 2 state semifinalist runs. Mr. Moran was honored with 11 Division Coach of the Year awards and won Coach of the year in both Middlesex and Union County. He brought the Mother Seton softball team to 1 Division Championship.

Tom’s students are also academic champions competing in the NJ Science League where they took first place before the pandemic impacted the league. He is a proud member of an outstanding Science department encompassing all MSR classes who compete in the Science Olympiad and the Science League consistently placing first or second.

Beyond all his academic and athletic involvement, Tom increases his impact on the students by serving as Freshman Class moderator annually and leads the Astronomy, Step, Film, and Speech Clubs. Clearly Tom is a Renaissance Man presence at MSR. Tom is the quintessential Mother Seton faculty member: completely dedicated to his students, inspiring them in classes, motivating and guiding them on the courts and playing fields, always supporting, always seeking more and better ways to serve. He carries on a long tradition of outstanding educators at Mother Seton.

We proudly honor Mr. Thomas Moran with our Gala 2021 Faculty Award and induct him into the Hall of Fame.

Toni Feeney Friend of MSR Award A Friend of Mother Seton Regional High School is an individual or group which has assisted Mother Seton Regional High School as it “challenges, empowers and inspires young women to achieve excellence in academics, personal growth and service to others in a nurturing, richly diverse community” through financial or other support.

Toni Feeney was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, and attended 12 years of Catholic school, graduating from The Academy of Saint Aloysius, an all-girls high school just like Mother Seton, in 1976. She then went on to Montclair State College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a concentration in Behavioral Management and Quantitative Analysis, Cum Laude, in 1980. Toni worked at Mutual Benefit Life 19801991 as a Project Manager for the Group and Individual Insurance Divisions.

Toni married Terry in 1984. When their daughters were born, they decided Toni’s concentration would be raising the girls at home full time.

Thus began her Tupperware career from 1992 to present. Being devoted to her daughters’ choice of Mother Seton as their high school, Toni entered MSR feeling the welcoming attitude both Kelly and Kim recognized. Walking through the doors of Mother Seton, Toni felt like she was home. She recognized that the students were warm and friendly, the school was bright and inviting and, it was larger than an elementary school but not overwhelming. It was a place where a student could be a part of anything she wanted in addition to a rigorous academic schedule. She could play sports, be a part of student council, act in the student performances and be expected to maintain good grades. Both of Toni’s daughters graduated and went on to The College of New Jersey and have successful careers.

As the Feeney daughters blossomed into strong, well-rounded, educated woman, professors would ask if they went to an all-girls school.

When they responded yes, the professors validated their educational background recognizing their well-organized ideas and their ability to contribute their thoughts in front of the whole class. Their years at Mother Seton, and The Feeney’s belief in the value of same sex education provided them with these life skills.

While her girls attended MSR, Toni was involved in the Parents’ Guild initially helping with all of the events; Craft Fair, Gift Auction, Dances, Open Houses, Registration, sporting events, whatever was needed. She then became the Parents’ Guild President and was responsible for running these events. Profits doubled during her leadership years as she used her own education and expertise to benefit the school. Her daughters’ graduation did not end Toni’s devotion, but in 2010, she transitioned to become a member of the MSR Consultative Board where she helped plan and oversee various fundraising endeavors, as well as development projects for the school.

Presently at Vintage and Nouveau Florist, Toni is the go-to woman for the school’s floral needs, continuing to spread her skills and talents in new and interesting ways.

We proudly induct her into the 2021 Hall of Fame and name her an honorary Seton Sister.
