Ha terminado uno de los años más difíciles para el mundo quizás desde 1945 cuando termino la Segunda Guerra Mundial debido a la pandemia del coronavirus.

One of the most challenging years for the world has ended, perhaps since 1945, when World War II ended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Si bien el virus del SIDA produjo más muertes no generó el cierre de fronteras e incluso regiones dentro cada país ni el pánico que ha producido el COVID 19 en todo el mundo debido a la rapidez del contagio y al límite en las unidades de cuidado intensivo para atender a los pacientes.

While the AIDS virus resulted in more deaths, it did not cause the closure of borders and even regions within each country or the panic that COVID 19 has produced worldwide due to the rapid spread and the limit in intensive care units to care for patients.

La aparición del COVID 19, aun no del todo esclarecida pero seguramente, según los expertos, relacionada con la cercanía de animales exóticos o salvajes a los seres humanos (pangolines, murciélagos), provoco una fuerte ola en naciones occidentales de sospecha ante la prensa, los poderes públicos e instituciones y la comunidad científica.

The appearance of COVID 19, still not entirely enlightened, but according to experts certainly related to the proximity of exotic or wild animals (pangolins, bats) to humans, caused a strong wave in Western nations of suspicion in the press, public authorities, institutions, and the scientific community.

It is perhaps the most significant and novel consequence of this pandemic in historical terms.

Entre 1918 y 1920, debido a la gripe española, murieron unos 5 millones de personas, varias veces la que se ha tenido en lo que va de pandemia. Sin embargo, la paranoia vivida en estos meses ante el uso de mascarillas o las posibles vacunas, son inéditas.

Between 1918 and 1920, due to the Spanish flu, about 5 million people died, several times the amount that has occurred in the pandemic so far. However, the paranoia experienced in these months about the use of masks or possible vaccines is unprecedented.

Esto se explica porque una sociedad teme un mayor control del gobierno y es en parte comprensible (aunque no justificable) pero también porque las últimas tres generaciones se han acostumbrado a un mundo sin pandemias como esta que no eran raras hace un siglo.

This is explained not only because society fears greater government control and is partly understandable (although not justifiable) but also because the last three generations have become used to a world without pandemics like this that were not rare at least a century ago.

Casi todos los libros de historia que abordan la independencia de los Estados Unidos comienzan con un episodio: las batallas de Lexington and Concord en 1775 que fue el primer enfrentamiento militar entre una milicia de americanos y el ejercito colonial inglés.

Almost every history book that deals with the independence of the United States begins with an episode, the battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, the first military confrontation between an American militia and the English colonial army.

A few months before this incident, the settlers’ spirits had lessened, and those who thought an understanding with London was possible were not a few.

John Adams expresó esta falta de visión: “No tenemos hombres a la altura de este tiempo. Somos deficientes en talento, en educación, en viajes, en todo”. (69)

John Adams expressed this lack of vision, “We have no men for the times. We are deficient in genius, in education, in travel, in fortune, in everything.” (69) When the Continental Congress took place, this would limit itself to requesting the representation of the Americans in the English Parliament and not independence.

the Americans as a patriotic hymn in anticipation of the one we now have that would come later. Here a character intervenes, whose story led to a Longfellow poem describing a heroic act performed by a Boston locksmith named Paul Revere. That day he was commissioned by Dr. Joseph Warren on behalf of the Boston Committee to ride to Lexington to deliver a message to Samuel Adams and John Hancock to alert of the possible dispatch of crown troops to the area. On the way, he was warned of the presence of nine English soldiers and managed to observe two. This warning alarmed Samuel Adams and made a quick resistance possible not only in Lexington but also in Concord. The poet Longfellow would exaggerate Revere’s heroism and embellish this story with details from his imagination. This is how he describes it: So through the night rode Paul Revere; And so through the night went his cry of alarm To every Middlesex village and farm, A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, And a word that shall echo forevermore!

Aquí interviene un personaje, cuya historia dio lugar a un poema de Longfellow donde describe un acto heroico realizado por un cerrajero de Boston llamado Paul Revere. As historian Ray Raphael points out, Revere represents a large group of settlers who, although they did not take up arms, helped the embryonic continental army confront the English. (32) Revere was accompanied by Richard Dawes and Samuel Prescott. Thanks to the warning from Revere and his friends, the arrival of the colonial army was not a surprise because they were confronted by seventy armed militiamen. After one side opened fire, the English charged against the patriots, killing eight of them. Shortly before this event, known as the Battle of Lexington, Revere and his men were intercepted by the British, but Prescott manages to escape to Concord. Upon reaching the latter city, the English were unable to find any hidden ammunition from the rebels thanks to Prescott’s warning.

Luego de que uno de los bandos abrió fuego, los ingleses cargaron contra los patriotas, matando a ocho de ellos. Poco antes de este hecho conocido como la batalla de Lexington, Revere y sus hombres fueron interceptados por los británicos, aunque Prescott logra escapar hacia Concord. Despite this, on the banks of the Concord River, one hundred English soldiers encounter four hundred rebel militiamen, and a new shot, this time from the English without having received orders to fire, kills two patriots and wounds four others. The rebels’ response was three English soldiers killed and a dozen wounded. Peter D ’Epirus explains that “the British were repeatedly fired on by a large formation of militia, and the rear guard troops were picked off at a distance by farmers and other guerrilla snipers who shot from behind houses and trees.” Although not organized into militias, these farmers were part of that town that Longfellow personified in Revere, the locksmith who alerted the Patriots with the help of Prescott and Drew using a flashlight signaling system. As D ‘Epirus explains, if General Gage had not sent a troop of nine hundred men to Lexington to support the four hundred who had already been faced there “to rescue the column in its dismissal return, it would have been annihilated” (478). The results of these two armed encounters were ninety-three dead for the Americans and two hundred seventy-three for the English. However, the Second Continental Congress was to take place, which elected John Hancock as president of this conclave, and with the request of John Adams, Colonel George Washington was approved to be appointed first general and commander-in-chief. Yet, the voices that would convince the people that independence was the only solution against English despotism would have to appear.

No doubt Covid-19, which has left alarming numbers of deaths worldwide; the election of the next president of the USA in a voting full of questions, doubts, and an atmosphere of tension; job losses, the hit to the world economy, and other events make us wonder-

¿qué está pasando con nuestro mundo? ¿Por qué el 2020 ha sido un año tan trágico?

what is happening to our world? Why has 2020 been such a tragic year?

¿Quién puede librarnos de todo esto?

Who can get us out of all this?

¿Será la ira de Dios sobre la humanidad?

Could it be the wrath of God on humanity?

¿Será que ya es el fin de los tiempos?

Could it be that it is the end of time?

Sin duda estamos viviendo tiempos peligrosos. Aun así, no pretendo responder las interrogantes anteriores, pues para eso ya se ha escrito mucho sobre el tema y hasta hay videos en internet que intentan descifrar qué está pasando.

We are certainly living through dangerous times. Still, I do not intend to answer the above questions because much has already been written on the subject, and there are even videos on the internet that try to decipher what is going on.

¡De lo que sí quiero hablar es de la soberanía del Rey! Y esto me lleva a pensar en la oración de Jesús, cuando dijo: “Vénganos tu reino, hágase tu voluntad en la tierra así como en el cielo”. Jesús, en su posición de hijo, siendo humano, ¡declaró la soberanía de Dios padre! Y me dirás: sí, todo eso está bien, pero con todo lo que nos está pasando, ¿quién está en control realmente? ¡Dios está en control! Él sigue siendo el mismo de ayer y hoy, el alfa y el omega. ¡El todopoderoso! En el libro de Lamentaciones, capítulo 3, versos 37 y 38, se lee: “¿Quién será aquel que diga que sucedió algo que el Señor no mandó? ¿De la boca del Altísimo no sale lo malo y lo bueno?” La escritura de dicho libro se le atribuye al profeta Jeremías. Con sus profecías, desafió la política de los reyes de Judea, Joaquim y Sedequías, y anunció el castigo de Jehová por la violencia y la corrupción social, que rompían la alianza con Dios: “Hablan de paz, pero no hay paz”, escribió. Jeremías, como profeta y como hijo de Dios, comprendió perfectamente la soberanía de Dios. Según su frase en el Lamentaciones: “Hoy en día mucho se habla de la fe que mueve montañas, de la fe que provoca milagros, pero poco se habla de la fe que espera, fe que confía y depende enteramente de un Dios soberano, perfecto y amoroso que sabe muy bien de los planes de paz y de bien que tiene para sus hijos”. ¿Y la adversidad? ¿Y los problemas? Son recursos que Dios utiliza para formarnos, para enseñarnos cosas, para formar nuestro carácter y que lleguemos a depender totalmente de su soberanía. Por otro lado, también hay quienes culpan al Diablo, que es un derrotado y un mentiroso, de las cosas que les ocurren; y peor aún: piensan que ese adversario tiene a veces, en sus manos, el poder de detener las bendiciones que Dios ha prometido a sus hijos. Una cosa sé, y es que Dios es soberano, el adversario no lo es. Dios tiene el control de TODO, ¡el adversario No! El diablo no tiene poder, mucho menos tiene en sus manos tus bendiciones. Dios habla y cosas ocurren, Dios manda y las tinieblas tiemblan, ¡los demonios huyen! ¡La fe inquebrantable viene de nuestra confianza en El Dios soberano! ¿En quién hemos puesto nuestra confianza? Los gobiernos fallan, los líderes claudican, pero Dios es soberano y solo en él podemos encontrar la paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento y las respuestas a todas las interrogantes. A veces Él nos habla y nos revela qué está pasando, y otras veces nos enseña a ser como esos niños que dependen completamente de Él sin cuestionar ni preguntar, y a confiar en su soberanía. ¿Quién está en control? Sin duda, DIOS ESTÁ EN CONTROL. ¡Aunque a veces no lo parezca! ¡Sí! ¡¡Qué bueno que Dios está en control!! Lamentaciones 3:31-33: “Porque el Señor no desecha para siempre; Antes si aflige, también se compadece según la multitud de sus misericordias; Porque no aflige ni entristece voluntariamente a los hijos de los hombres”.

What I do want to talk about is the sovereignty of the King! And this leads me to think of Jesus’ prayer when he said: “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus, in his position as a son, being human, declared the sovereignty of God the Father! And you will tell me: yes, all that is fine, but with everything that is happening to us, who is really in control? God is in control! He remains the same yesterday and today, the Alpha and the Omega. The Almighty! In the book of Lamentations, chapter 3 verses 37 and 38, it reads, “Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?” The writing of this book is attributed to the prophet Jeremiah. With his prophecies, he challenged the policies of the kings of Judea, Joachim and Zedekiah, and announced Jehovah’s punishment for violence and social corruption, which broke the covenant with God. “They speak of peace, but there is no peace,” he wrote. Jeremiah, as a prophet and as a son of God, perfectly understood the sovereignty of God. According to his phrase in the Lamentations: “Today much is said about the faith that moves mountains, the faith that causes miracles, but little is said about the faith that waits, a faith that trusts and depends entirely on a Sovereign, perfect, and loving God, who knows very well about the plans of peace and good that He has for His children.” What about adversity? What about the problems? They are resources that God uses to form us, to teach us things, to shape our character, and that we come to depend totally on His sovereignty. On the other hand, some blame the Devil, a loser and a liar, for the things that happen to them. And worse still, they think that this adversary sometimes has, in his hands, the power to stop the blessings that God has promised to His children. One thing I know is that God is sovereign; the adversary is not. God is in control of EVERYTHING, not the adversary? The devil has no power, much less does he have your blessings in his hands. God speaks, and things happen. God commands, and the darkness trembles, the demons flee! Unwavering faith comes from our trust in The Sovereign God! In whom have we put our trust? Governments fail, leaders falter, but God is sovereign, and only in Him can we find the peace that surpasses all understanding and the answers to all questions. Sometimes He speaks and reveals to us what is happening, and other times, He teaches us to be like those children who completely depend on Him without questioning or inquiring but trusting His sovereignty. Who is in control? Without a doubt, GOD IS IN CONTROL. Although sometimes it may not seem like it! Yes, He is! How good that God is in control! Lamentations 3:31-33: “For the Lord will not cast off forever. Though He causes grief, yet He will show compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. For He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.”

Jorge Berrios is originally from Chiclayo, Peru, on the border with Brazil. He is the president of Aquabot, a water purification company, and Almavisión has wanted to bring its readers a new story of personal success and social responsibility.

Preguntado sobre sus comienzos, Berrios nos explica: “Ya yo tenía un negocio de agricultura y ganadería en mi país. Lamentablemente me fue mal, porque con las políticas del país no se puede prosperar. Estaba en bancarrota y tenía la visa para Estados Unidos, por lo que vine con mi esposa, Sandra Berrios en el 2004, pero me quedé tan arruinado que tuve que vender la camioneta donde tenía mis cosas. Porque ni siquiera tenía los $1000 que me prestaron para la bolsa de viaje.

Asked about its beginnings, Berrios explains: “I already had an agriculture and livestock business in my country. Unfortunately, things went badly for me, because with the countrys policies you cannot prosper. I was bankrupt and had a visa for the United States, so I came in 2004 with my wife, Sandra Berrios. However, I was so broke that I had to sell the truck where I had my things because I didnt even have the $1000 they loaned me for the travel bag. This is my story.

Esa es mi historia. Llegué a este país con mis dos hijos pequeños, con mi esposa y solamente $1000. En ese momento tenía dos opciones. Tenía una opción de trabajar en ventas, y la otra era trabajar en construcción. No estaba acostumbrado a trabajar en construcción y dije: “no, mejor me dedico a vender”, y entonces me aferré a las ventas. Las ventas me cambiaron la vida. Trabajaba vendiendo ollas. En aquella época vendía sistemas de cocina, pero luego pensaba: no me puedo quejar. Ganaba dinero, pero no como yo quería, y me pude dar cuenta de que mucha gente en este país compraba agua”.

So, yes, there is plenty of evidence that God answers prayer. Most of the evidence is anecdotal and personal, however, and that bothers many who think of “evidence” only as that which is observable, measureable, and reproducible. Scripture clearly teaches that prayers are answered. James 5:16 states that “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Jesus taught His disciples that “if you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7). First John 3:22 echoes this truth, saying that we “receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.” Scripture, moreover, is replete with stories of answered prayer. Elijah’s prayer for fire from heaven (2 Kings 1:12), Hezekiah’s prayer for deliverance (2 Kings 19:19), and the apostles’ prayer for boldness (Acts 4:29) are just three examples. Since these accounts were written by eyewitnesses to the events, they constitute clear evidence of answered prayer. One might, of course, counter that Scripture does not present observable evidence in the “scientific” sense. However, no statement of Scripture has ever been conclusively disproved, so there is no reason to doubt its testimony. In fact, labeling some kinds of evidence as “scientific” and other kinds as “non-scientific” is a fuzzy and artificial distinction at best. Such a distinction can only be made a priori, i.e., prior to the evaluation of the data. In other words, the choice to evaluate the efficacy of prayer only in light of observable evidence is not a choice motivated by the data but by prior philosophical commitments. When this arbitrary restriction is relaxed, the biblical data speaks clearly for itself. Occasionally, a group of researchers will conduct a scientific study on the efficacy of prayer. Their findings are usually that prayer has no effect (or possibly even a negative effect) on, for instance, the average recovery time of people in medical care. How are we to understand the results of studies such as these? Are there any biblical reasons for unanswered prayer? Psalm 66:18 says, “If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear” (NASB). Likewise, 1 John 5:15 qualifies our receiving “anything we ask” with our obedience to God’s commands. La voluntad del que pide es secundaria. Jesús oró así en Getsemaní (Lucas 22:42). “when you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives” (4:3). So, a couple reasons for unanswered prayer are unconfessed sin and wrong motivations. Another reason for unanswered prayer is lack of faith: “When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6-7). Hebrews 11:6 also identifies faith as a necessary condition for a relationship with God, something always mediated by prayer in the name of Christ: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Faith, then, is necessary for answered prayer. Finally, some critics of Christianity make the case that, since Jesus instructs His disciples to “ask whatever you wish,” all prayers should be answered. However, such criticisms completely ignore the conditions to the promise in the first part of the verse: “If you remain in me and my words remain in you.” This is clearly a prescription for praying within the will of God; in other words, genuine prayer which God always answers is, in fact, that sort which requests, explicitly or implicitly, that God’s will be accomplished. The will of the petitioner is secondary. Jesus Himself prayed this way in Gethsemane (Luke 22:42). The humble prayer of faith allows that the prayer may be answered with a “no”; anyone not offering such a prayer—anyone who demands to be answered—has no right to expect an answer.

Another reason why so many studies report the inefficacy of prayer is that it is impossible to eliminate the variables associated with the spiritual condition of those praying (is the petitioner even a believer?), the motivation for which they offer the prayer (is it to provide evidence or because the Holy Spirit has moved them to pray?), the way in which they offer their prayer (are they praying a formulaic expression or intentionally bringing requests to God?), and so on.

Crean aerolínea cristiana que transportará misioneros por todo el mundo

La primera aerolínea cristiana tendrá el propósito de transportar a misioneros por todo el mundo, ayudando a cumplir con la misión de alcanzar el Evangelio “hasta lo último de la tierra”.

A pesar de su nuevo estatus, todavía habrá diferencias entre Judah 1 y las otras aerolíneas que se han convertido en nombres familiares en los EE. UU. y en todo el mundo.

Una organización cristiana sin fines de lucro está anunciando la creación de la primera aerolínea con fines misioneros. La Iglesia ante las invasiones bárbaras: San Agustín y La ciudad de Dios The Church in the Face of Barbaric Invasions: St. Augustine and the City of God

El saqueo de Roma por Alarico y los vándalos fue un acontecimiento que conmovió al mundo occidental. Por primera vez parecía posible que el imperio constituido hacía más de cuatro siglos pudiera desvanecerse. El acontecimiento sacudió no solo una estructura política a la cual ya la Iglesia estaba integrada desde al menos veinte años antes al ser establecido el cristianismo como religión oficial, sino la propia fe de los romanos que en el mismo lapso temporal habían abandonado sus viejos dioses para abrazar la fe católica. Según explica el historiador Peter Heather, Alarico pudo ocupar Roma debido a dos factores. El ejercito romano se había nutrido de recientes olas inmigratorias bárbaras por los que no le fue muy difícil al ejército cambiar su fidelidad del emperador al jefe bárbaro, cuando además estas tropas habían sido víctimas de un pogromo. También nos dice Heather que a las fuerzas de Alarico se le unió un gran número de esclavos. La caída de Roma -aunque el episodio final tendría lugar más de medio siglo después-era explicable por algunos errores políticos, pero siguiendo la lógica de los pensadores paganos romanos atribuirle otras causas a aquel suceso. En efecto, el saqueo de Roma que también trajo la profanación de templos cristianos hizo a algunos pensar si no sería resultado del abandono de la fe en sus viejos dioses. The Sack of Rome by Alaric and the Vandals was an event that shocked the Western world. For the first time, it seemed possible that the empire established more than four centuries ago could vanish. The event shook not only a political structure to which the Church had already been integrated for at least twenty years before Christianity was established as the official religion, but the very faith of the Romans who, in the same period, had left their old gods to embrace the Catholic faith. Rome and not with the deposition of Romulus Augustulus, the last Roman emperor. Conceiving history as a linear process is the work of this important father of the Church. No other philosophy of history would exist again until the 18th century with the work of Giambattista Vico. Until then, history had been a mere chronicle. Saint Augustine draws from the Bible the theory to preside over his work: history is the struggle between the city of God, those called by God in different historical periods, the Church being the last, and those who resist it, the city of this world or men. The former should not be identified with the Church even though many members of the city of God have belonged to it. In this work, Saint Augustine undertakes the defense of Christianity, showing its superiority over paganism. He mentions a series of immoral practices associated with the rituals of the Roman religion, which he practiced, showing that these beliefs had not improved the customs of his people. No hay en estos pasajes un reconocimiento ciego de la autoridad imperial sino que contrapone la libertad original de los romanos que-tal como recuerda el pensador cristiano-los lleva a destronar la monarquía y establecer la república. De hecho, afirma que los romanos crean el gobierno de dos cónsules por un año que opone a la pompa de un rey. Glory they most ardently loved: for it they wished to live, for it they not hesitate to die. Every other desire was repressed by the strength of their passion for that one thing.

There is no blind recognition of imperial authority in these passages but rather contrasts the original freedom of the Romans, which (as the Christian thinker recalls), led them to dethrone the monarchy and establish the republic. It affirms that the Romans create the government of two consuls for one year that opposes the pomp of a king. This early Roman freedom now was rejuvenated by the Christian faith that established a King of Kings above any imperial authority. It is curious that, although in the foundation of the culture, the work of San Agustin is recognized, it does not insist on how this work created the bases for political philosophy and not only historical science. By establishing virtues (such as those noted above) as the cause of the greatness of Rome, St. Augustine was giving rise to one of the principles of Western civilization: that of freedom as a source of progress. Even though this freedom, which sought that of society, has been seen as typical of the ancients, as a difference to that of the “moderns,” which focused on the individual, Saint Augustine would be one of the first to point out freedom as one of the main causes of the rise of civilization. Even Gibbons, the famous English historian of the 18th century, can see a similar analysis, being able to establish a real Augustinian influence in his work. It would be later, from the 19th century, that the barbarians that ravaged the Empire would be magnified by German philosophers and historians and placed as the source of a new civilization where the German element would predominate over the Latin; although, in reality, both would end up merging based on a common religion.

Perhaps as parents, we have been amid worry. And we easily find guilty ones and avoid focusing on the actual root of our children falling into these behaviors, and that root is us, the adults. When we were children, some situations were absent and necessary for the healthy development of a human being, such as words of affirmation, support, protection, company, and many habits that lead us to form our personality. There are also situations in our childhood that we should not have received such as mistreatment, mockery, humiliation, rejection, abuse, and many more behaviors that equally define who we will be in the future. The XXX Libre ministry helped me to recognize first that everything wrong in my life was a consequence of roots and hurts from my childhood. There is no bad or good habit that does not generate consequences in those who live with us every day.

We lie to our children, and then we punish them for lying to us. And so, we do more things that generate rejected, deceived, and resentful hearts, as well as emotions that accumulate pain, which seeks to be alleviated in escapes such as addictions to alcohol, sex, drugs, food, games, and along the way, behaviors such as aborting, mistreating, abusing, and even killing, and everything comes from the same root.

La familia es el núcleo de la sociedad, y yo creo que desde el momento que nacen nuestros hijos tenemos que reflejar el amor de Dios y su disciplina hacia ellos. Yo les puedo testificar que he visto un sin número de veces a Dios usar a mis hijos para profetizar, y para liberar. Han habido momentos en los que el miedo viene a mi, en donde entro en pánico y mi hijo de 11 años ha puesto sus manos en mi cabeza o a mi hija de 9 años cantar en lenguas mientras adoramos juntos como familia! Es hermosos poder ver las manifestaciones De Dios sobre sus vidas, pero esto no se logra si nosotros no lo hacemos primero! 7. ¿Con qué frecuencia debemos orar por nuestros hijos y qué debemos orar por ellos? ¡Debemos orar todo el tiempo! Pero creo que tenemos momentos en donde es muy necesario ser intencional y específicos en nuestra oraciones. Y en nuestro vivir diario ellos no se pueden dormir sin antes orar juntos como familia.

4. When should we begin to raise our children in the Lords discipline and admonition? The family is the nucleus of society, and I believe that from the moment our children are born, we have to reflect Gods love and discipline towards them. Every action has a reaction ;obviously this goes according to the different ages,; but beyond that, beyond demanding and disciplining them, we as parents have to be an example of what we believe and live what the Word of God says that we must be. II. Set Goals and Selfdiscipline 5. What are some of the benefits of setting goals for children? I believe that goals are very important for the growth of our children; this helps them to believe more in themselves as well as recognize their strengths and weaknesses. I believe that, as parents, we have to push them a bit, especially in these times in which we live where we are completely connected to machines and have forgotten how to relate with others. Lets challenge our children! I do it all the time. ;If you read this book and give me a summary, Ill let you play a marathon of your favorite video game!; 6. Think of some reachable spiritual goals that we can motivate our children to achieve. (Proverbs 22:6). In my case, my children have their daily moments with God. I can testify to you that I have seen God use my children countless times to prophesy and deliver. There have been times when fear comes to me, and I panic, and my 11-year-old son places his hands on my head, or my 9-year-old daughter sings in tongues as we worship together as a family! It is beautiful to be able to see the manifestations of God in their lives, but this is not achieved if we do not do it first! 7. How often should we pray for our children and what should we pray for them?

Cuando mi hijo estaba en 3ER grado había un niño que le dijo que no creía en Dios, a lo cual Matías “mi hijo” le respondió: Dios es real, está vivo, te ama y tienes que creer en El, es que no hay mas opción! ¡Yo le dije que estaba orgullosa de él! Que era de valientes lo que el hizo, que no importa que el amigo no haya creído en el momento , que lo importante es que el había sido valiente y que había sin saber sembrado una semilla de vida sobre la vida de su amigo!

We have taught them to defend always what we as a family believe in. When my son was in 3rd grade, there was a boy who said he did not believe in God, to which Matías, my son, replied, ;God is real. He is alive. He loves you, and you have to believe in Him. There is no other option!; I told him I was proud of him! That what he did was brave, that it did not matter that his friend did not believe at the time, but that the important thing was that he had been brave, and he had unknowingly sown a seed of life on the life of his friend!

P.ej. ver a un dentista. Cuando siento miedo, pongo en ti mi confianza. Confío en Dios y alabo su palabra;confío en Dios y no siento miedo. Como seres humanos vamos a estar expuestos al miedo, a las ansiedades, angustias y a la depresión, son sentimientos reales y nuestros hijos también los experimentan. Es por eso que como padres tenemos que estar alertas todo el tiempo para poder detectar cómo nuestros hijos se están sintiendo. A mi hija le daba pavor ir al dentista, lloraba desde que se daba cuenta que íbamos en camino.

I trust in God, and I am not afraid. As human beings, we will be exposed to fear, anxieties, anguish, and depression. They are real feelings, and our children also experience them.

Para ayudarla yo le explicaba el porqué necesitábamos ir al dentista, le decía: ir al dentista no es malo, es bueno, tus dientes van a quedar blancos y brillantes, al llegar el momento yo no me separaba de ella y la afirmaba! A la final siempre vamos a tener que enfrentar a las cosas que nos dan miedo!

That is why as parents, we have to be alert all the time to be able to detect how our children are feeling. My daughter was afraid to go to the dentist. She began to cry as soon as she realized we were on our way. To help her, I explained to her why we needed to go to the dentist. I told her, ;Going to the dentist is not bad; it is good. Your teeth will be white and shiny.; When the time came, I would not separate myself from her and affirmed her! In the end, we are always going to have to face the things that scare us!

Así que como padres nos toca que ayudar a nuestros hijos a enfrentar sus miedos, escucharlos hablar de sus ansiedades y frustraciones y guiarlos de acuerdo a lo que Dios nos muestre en el camino.

Therefore, as parents, we have to help our children face their fears, listen to them talk about their anxieties and frustrations, and guide them according to what God shows us along the way.

As I saw all those young people applauding the young writer Katherine Bisquet as she read a manifesto calling for freedom of expression, I remembered my time at the University of Havana.

Han pasado veinte años, dos congresos del Partido Comunista con promesas de reforma donde la élite política parecía inclinarse por su discurso, hacia el socialismo de mercado. Luego esto ha negado en la práctica con estos meses de requisa de productos por acaparamiento que recuerdan más bien al ;comunismo de guerra; de Lenin que a las reformas económicas de China tras las protestas de Tianamen. Este giro en el discurso oficial hacia algunos países asiáticos ocurre mientras se presenta como referente ideológico para movimientos sociales en América Latina. En medio de estos pensamientos, reviso la lista de miembros del Consejo de Estadoespecie de cámara alta del parlamento de partido único de Cuba- y solo hallo dos intelectuales: un periodista y un historiador. Teniendo en cuenta el peso que estos tuvieron en movimientos de reforma de los estados de tipo estalinista, como sucedió con Checoslovaquia en la primavera de Praga en 1968, me pregunto si los intelectuales cubanos podrán encontrar un espacio para la libertad de expresión en un país donde hasta el 2007 no se pudo estrenar la reconocida obra teatral Los siete contra Tebas, de Antón Arrufat. Hace pocos años se difundió como un gran logro la publicación de 1984, pero ni soñar con Rebelión en la granja o La rebelión de las masas.

That atmosphere, however, was far from what can be seen now. Twenty years have passed, two Communist Party congresses with promises of reform where the political elite seemed to lean towards their discourse, towards “market socialism.” Then this has effectively denied these months of requisitioning hoarding products that are more reminiscent of Lenin’s “war communism” than China’s economic reforms following Tianamen’s protests. This turn in the official discourse towards some Asian countries occurs while presenting itself as an ideological reference for social movements in Latin America. Amid these thoughts, I go through the list of members of the Council of State (a sort of upper house of Cuba’s single-party parliament), and I only find two intellectuals: a journalist and a historian. Taking into account the weight that these had in the reform movements of the Stalinist states, as happened with Czechoslovakia in the spring of Prague in 1968, I wonder if Cuban intellectuals will be able to find a space for freedom of expression in a country where it was not until 2007 that Antón Arrufat’s renowned play Seven Against Thebes (Los siete contra Tebas ) was premiered. A few years ago, the publication of 1984 was disseminated as a great achievement, but Animal Farm or The Revolt of the Masses not in your dreams.

Hasta ahora han sido iglesias, intelectuales, sobre todo periodistas, cineastas y artistas, quienes han buscado sus espacios propios y se han resistido a ser absorbidos por una ideología cada vez más ecléctica y difícil de armonizar. Sin embargo, aunque los obispos católicos han apoyado las demandas de diálogo con el gobierno de los manifestantes del 27 de noviembre, las iglesias protestantes han guardado silencio ante este reciente acontecimiento, pese a que el más reciente intento de constituir una organización ecuménica entre las denominaciones que nunca han pertenecido o han abandonado el Consejo de Iglesias de Cuba, fue rechazado de plano por el gobierno que solo quiere reconocer a dicho consejo como interlocutor, a pesar de la variedad de denominaciones y teologías existente en el país. Quizás el silencio de las principales denominaciones se deba al tema del estatus legal del llamado “matrimonio igualitario “que separa la visión cristiana sobre la sociedad del pensamiento y arte secular contemporáneo. So far, they have been churches, intellectuals, especially journalists, filmmakers, and artists, who have sought their own spaces and have resisted being absorbed by an increasingly eclectic and difficult to harmonize ideology. However, although the Catholic bishops have supported the demands for dialogue with the government of the November 27th protesters, the Protestant churches have remained silent in the face of this recent event; even though the most recent attempt to form an ecumenical organization among denominations that have never belonged to or left the Council of Churches of Cuba was flatly rejected by the government that only wants to recognize such a council as an interlocutor, despite the variety of denominations and theologies existing in the country. Perhaps the silence of the main denominations is due to the issue of the legal status of the so-called “same-sex marriage” that separates the Christian vision about society from contemporary secular thought and art. In this sense, what confronts Western societies today divides those who demand greater freedom of religion, politics, press, and artistic expression in Cuba. These young people, on the other hand, know that Leninist-minded socialism and freedom of expression have only ephemerally coexisted in more than a century- in Gorbachev’s glásnot and the failed Czech experiment crushed by Soviet intervention. They prefer, however, to ignore the experiences of the past and claim it from the institutions to which they belong. On the other hand, the use by the media of the argument to refuse dialogue, being faced with American hostility, and being a “besieged place” would bring a smile to any Czech that lived those years of the Prague spring when his country belonged to the Warsaw Pact in the middle of the nuclear rearmament race between the USSR and USA.

The difference, however, between that Central European experience and what happened on November 27, between obtaining a privilege for a class (or a group within it) and an authentic reform that makes Cuban society come out of its heavy communist heritage, passes through solidarity.

Closing the possibility of dialogue with the large group of young non-conforming intellectuals and even younger people who have supported them through manifestos or statements, for whom freedom of expression, even something more basic such as criticism, is a necessity.

La diferencia, sin embargo, entre aquella experiencia centroeuropea y lo ocurrido el 27 de noviembre, entre obtener un privilegio para una clase (o un grupo dentro de ésta) y una auténtica reforma que haga salir a la sociedad cubana de su pesada herencia comunista; pasa por la solidaridad. El cierre de la posibilidad de diálogo con el numeroso grupo de jóvenes intelectuales disconformes -y otros menos jóvenes que los han apoyado a través de manifiestos o declaraciones-para los cuáles la libertad de expresión, incluso de algo más básico, de crítica, es una necesidad; indica, la manifestación ocurrida frente al Ministerio de Cultura, dista aún de aquella primavera centroeuropea o de su epílogo de 1989, la “revolución de terciopelo”.

Son muchas las personas que sufren del estómago sin encontrar alivio. De hecho, entre un 75% y 80% de los casos, cuando se realiza una endoscopía digestiva para encontrar el culpable, no se halla ningún indicio de enfermedad. Por eso la mayoría de las dispepsias (el término médico que se usa para definir las digestiones difíciles) son funcionales, es decir, sin una causa específica.

ENTONCES ENTENDAMOS QUÉ ES UNA MALA DIGESTIÓN Las molestias de estómago (dispepsia o mala digestión) son tan comunes que en algún momento de su vida usted las habrá experimentado. Existen infinidad de razones por las que se puede tener un malestar en el estómago. La mayoría de las causas no son graves y los síntomas deberían aliviarse si se actúa rápidamente. La indigestión es la incapacidad para digerir adecuadamente los alimentos consumidos; la digestión se produce de forma muy lenta. Los síntomas comunes de malestar estomacal e indigestión incluyen: acidez o reflujo ácido, náuseas, inflamación abdominal, eructos y gases, mal aliento y a veces hipo. Estas molestias pueden indicar desde una úlcera hasta una hernia de hiato ¿Eso quiere decir que no hay nada qué hacer? TRANQUILOS. ¡Ni mucho menos! Tu forma de comer, los horarios, una microbiota alterada... Además de la comida en sí, son varias las causas que pueden alterar tu digestión. Detecta qué es lo que ocurre en tu caso y ponle remedio. COMER RÁPIDO AFECTA AL ESTÓMAGO La digestión “empieza” en la boca, donde el alimento se mezcla con las enzimas de la saliva. Si engulles, te estás saltando este paso. Masticar poco puede provocarlo La comida llega al estómago sin ser apenas triturada, y este tiene que invertir mucho esfuerzo en digerirla. Se debe masticar de 26 a 28 veces la misma porción. Recuerda mis consejos de siempre: la importancia de masticar bien; en mis charlas insisto mucho en esto. La digestión es más lenta y pesada y te consume mucha energía, con lo que te sientes más cansada. TE VA GUSTAR ESTO Por qué comer despacio te ayuda a adelgazar. Cuando comes rápido, tragas aire y esto provoca gases, eructos y dolor abdominal. Consumes hasta 300 calorías más en cada comida. Vale la pena considerarlo. Lo ha demostrado un estudio publicado en la revista de la Asociación Americana de Dietética. Cuando comes rápido, la leptina, hormona de la saciedad, no tiene “tiempo” de enviar al cerebro la señal de que “estás llena”. Y cuando esta llega, ya es tarde porque has comido de más y sin control. Te alimentas mal. Comer rápido es sinónimo de hacerlo con ansiedad.

¿Es usted una persona entusiasta, entretenida, agradable y cordial? ¿Está seguro de que el aburrido no es usted? Como marido usted puede hacer que su esposa sea aburrida o interesante, quejosa o encantadora. Usted hace la diferencia y eso depende de cómo la trate. Por lo tanto le aconsejo que decida ayudar a su esposa para que se vuelva atractiva e interesante nuevamente a través del poder del amor. Se lo explico en términos prácticos.
