El Señor nos ha traído unos primeros seis meses llenos de esperanza, aquella que trae la de ver al pueblo de Venezuela libre de la opresión y este verano, los jóvenes reclamando sus derechos en Hong-Kong pero también nuevas pruebas para la Iglesia y la comunidad hispana.

We enter the second half of 2019 with new goals and renewed vigor in the Spirit. The Lord has brought us the first six months full of hope, one that brings seeing the people of Venezuela free of oppression; and this summer, young people claiming their rights in Hong Kong but also new evidence for the Church and the Hispanic community.

En esta edición continuamos con la serie donde exploramos la historia de nuestro país hasta el momento en que comienza el conflicto con Inglaterra así como la de la Historia de la Iglesia, donde exploramos los antecedentes del Concilio de Nicea que marca la consolidación de la fe trinitaria. Asimismo, traemos un trabajo sobre las diferencias entre las ideologías de izquierda y derecha, tan importantes para entender el panorama político actual.

In this edition, we continue with the series where we explore The History of Our Country Until the Moment When the Conflict with England Starts. Furthermore, in The History of the Church, we explore the background of the Council of Nicaea that marks the consolidation of the Trinitarian faith. We also bring an essay on the differences between left and right ideologies, so essential to understand the current political landscape.

What differentiates the “left” and the “right” in the world of today?

Una crítica frecuente que se hace a la oposición venezolana, y que no hace mucho esgrimiera la activista guatemalteca Gloria Álvarez, es la de abrazar al socialismo como ideología. En efecto, tanto Voluntad Popular, el partido de Leopoldo López como Acción Democrática, la formación política a la que pertenece Ramos Allup son miembros de la Internacional Socialista, organización que agrupa a partidos socialdemócratas alrededor del mundo desde 1951. Aquí podemos preguntarnos: ¿Es lo mismo socialismo que comunismo? Y lo que es más importante: ¿Qué diferencia a esta corriente ideológica de la llamada neoliberal o conservadora? ¿Qué diferencia en el mundo de hoy la “izquierda” y la “derecha”?

A frequent criticism that is made to the Venezuelan opposition, and that not long ago wielded the Guatemalan activist Gloria Álvarez, generated a controversy by criticizing the Venezuelan opposition for embracing socialism as an ideology. Indeed, both Popular Will, the Leopoldo López party, and Democratic Action, the political formation to which Ramos Allup belongs are members of the Socialist International, an organization that groups social-democratic parties around the world since 1951. Here we can ask ourselves: Is socialism the same as communism? And what is more important: What differentiates this ideological current from the so-called neoliberal or conservative? What differentiates the “left” and the “right” in the world of today?

No es sencillo responder a estas preguntas, pero si pertinente. Hay que recordar que en las elecciones norteamericanas de 2016 uno de los pre-candidatos electorales (Bernie Sanders) se definía como socialista mientras que el apoyado por el Partido Republicano y se convertiría en próximo presidente se presentaba como conservador. En las elecciones parciales de 2018 varios candidatos a representantes se definían a si mismos como socialistas y en el discurso del estado de la Unión de este año, el presidente Trump afirmó que los Estados Unidos jamás serían un país socialista.

It is not easy to answer these questions, but it is relevant. It should be remembered that in the 2016 US elections one of the pre-electoral candidates (Bernie Sanders) defined himself as a socialist while the one supported by the Republican Party became the next president presented himself as conservative. In the 2018 partial elections, several candidates for representatives defined themselves as socialists and in this year’s State of the Union speech, President Trump claimed that the United States would never be a socialist country.

Durante varias décadas, el termino socialismo estuvo vinculado al programa político comunista, aunque siempre se le distinguió por los especialistas en ciencias políticas. En el mundo actual el socialismo se puede entender como una ideología que reúne las siguientes demandas:

For several decades, the term socialism was linked to the communist political program, although it was always distinguished by political science specialists. In today’s world, socialism can be understood as an ideology that meets the following demands:

Establecer beneficios para los obreros y empleados a través de un salario mínimo, vacaciones pagadas, límites a la jornada laboral que en nuestro tiempo puede llegar a jornadas de cinco horas, reducción del límite a la edad de jubilación,

Como parte de la búsqueda de esta igualdad algunos partidos que se identifican con el socialismo (como es el caso del Partido Revolucionario Institucional de México, de Enrique Peña Nieto o el Partido Socialista Obrero Español que ha dado tres presidentes a España desde 1982) está la de la equiparación de derechos ante la ley entre parejas que viven en concubinato y matrimonios. También la polémica demanda del matrimonio “igualitario” u homosexual y el derecho al aborto para la mujer, inspirada en la idea de igualdad entre los sexos. En los países donde existe la monarquía, los partidos socialistas suelen abogar por la abolición de los privilegios reales o de la nobleza y abogar por una democracia radical. Recientemente en Italia el primer ministro, miembro de un partido socialista, trató de sacar adelante un plebiscito para abolir el Senado, con lo que eliminaría un freno a la mayoría parlamentaria. En los Estados Unidos esta tendencia hacia una democracia radical o sin contrapesos (en inglés checks and balances) se ha visto en la demanda presentada por algunos políticos demócratas de abolir el colegio electoral.

They advocate creating mechanisms to subsidize education and health, considering them as citizens’ rights, at the same level as the right to freedom of expression or the press. As part of the search for this equality, some parties that identify with socialism (as is the case of the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto or the Spanish Socialist Workers Party that has given three presidents to Spain since 1982) is the of the equalization of rights before the law between couples living in concubinage and marriages as well as the controversial demand for “equal” or homosexual marriage and the right to abortion for women, inspired by the idea of gender equality. In countries where the monarchy exists, socialist parties often advocate the abolition of royal privileges or nobility and advocate for radical democracy. Recently, in Italy the prime minister, a member of a socialist party, tried to pull off a plebiscite to abolish the Senate, thereby removing a brake on the parliamentary majority.

Is socialism the same as communism ? In the United States, this trend towards a radical or unbalanced democracy has been seen in the lawsuit filed by some Democratic politicians to abolish the electoral college. Hence, conservatives prefer to label America’s system of constitutional government as a republic rather than a democracy. Something that characterizes contemporary Socialists is the intention to grant the right of residence 13

Algo que caracteriza a los socialistas contemporáneos es la intención de conceder derecho de residencia o ciudadanía a los inmigrantes que entraron al país de forma ilegal y de eliminar cualquier privilegio poseído por la religión. En este sentido son firmes partidarios del secularismo o la marginación de las iglesias de la vida pública. Ambas demandas son consecuencia de esa previa aspiración a la igualdad. La segunda es la protección del medio ambiente. Sustitución de los combustibles como el carbón o el petróleo por energía renovable como la solar o hidroeléctrica, aunque esto implique fuertes subsidios del gobierno a la implantación de estas tecnologías. Rechazo a toda fuente de contaminación, incluyendo la energía nuclear.

or citizenship to immigrants who entered the country illegally and to eliminate any privileges possessed by religion. In this sense, they are staunch supporters of secularism or the marginalization of the churches from public life. Both demands are a consequence of this previous aspiration for equality. The second is the protection of the environment. Substitution of fuels such as coal or oil with renewable energy such as solar or hydroelectric, even if this involves strong government subsidies for the implementation of these technologies, rejecting all sources of pollution, including nuclear energy. Por último, rechazo de toda forma de “colonialismo” o del intento de resolver las disputas internacionales apelando a la fuerza militar o a la coacción. Este último punto puede considerarse una variante del primero porque se basa en la igualdad entre naciones sin importar su peso en la economía mundial o su grado de desarrollo. Ejemplos recientes de dicha política socialista ha estado en el rechazo a la guerra de Iraq (2003) o la intervención en Libia (2011) y más recientemente en Siria (2013-2018) o en la búsqueda de un acuerdo nuclear con Irán. El lector quizás se haya sorprendido al encontrar que algunos políticos en nuestro país denominados conservadores comparten parte de los puntos mencionados. ¿No quiere acaso Donald Trump invertir grandes recursos públicos en infraestructura vial? ¿No se opuso además a la política de Obama de derrocar a Al Assad en Siria? Sin embargo, las coincidencias son mínimas si vemos las diferencias con otros aspectos arriba señalados. Vemos por tanto, una diferencia a nivel de demandas que ya bastaría para establecer la consabida división entre socialistas y conservadores. Ahora bien: ¿la hay a nivel ideológico? ¿Hay una teoría que justifique por que la igualdad es mejor

Recent examples of such a socialist policy have been in the rejection of the Iraq war (2003) or the intervention in Libya (2011), and more recently in Syria (2013-2018) or in the search for a nuclear agreement with Iran. The reader may have been surprised to find that some politicians in our country called conservatives share part of the points mentioned. Doesn’t Donald Trump want to invest large public resources in road infrastructure? Didn’t he also oppose Obama’s policy of overthrowing Al Assad in Syria? However, the coincidences are minimal if we see the differences with other aspects mentioned above. We see, therefore, a difference at the level of demands that would be enough to establish the familiar division between socialists and conservatives. Now, is there at the ideological level? Is there a theory that justifies why equality is better than social inequality, that socialism advocated by these parties is better than the present capitalist system? In the conservative case, it is complex to define, because it takes both the

También creen en la libertad de circulación. Como puede verse el nacionalismo de los conservadores no solo se opone a las demandas de los socialistas actuales en materia de medio ambiente y política exterior también a la de los liberales clásicos en materia de privacidad, libre-comercio y emigración. 16

discourse of classical liberalism and nationalism. Classical liberalism emphasized the importance of fundamental freedoms- press, religion, assembly, trade etc. as well as property law. These accept almost all these freedoms which subordinate them to the national interest. Thus, for example, that the government spy on citizens’ telecommunications due to the terrorist threat is seen by classical libertarians as a violation of the right to privacy of correspondence. They also believe in freedom of movement. As can be seen, the conservative nationalism not only opposes the demands of the current socialists in matters of environment and foreign policy, but also that of classical liberals in matters of privacy, free trade and emigration. Conservatives despite being nationalistic oppose statism (big government) in the economy. This differentiates them from the fascists and the socialists that make the state intervene in the production and distribution of goods and services to eliminate unemployment and reduce income inequality. Therefore,

De manera que el conservadurismo toma ideas del liberalismo clásico de la Ilustración, de John Locke y Adam Smith y también del nacionalismo propio del Romanticismo, podemos pensar en el filósofo alemán Herder y en el pensador inglés Burke. El primero creía que la cultura de los pueblos era su identidad y rechazaba el concepto de civilización propio de la Ilustración por lo que puede ser un claro antecedente de esta idea. El socialismo por otro lado coincide con el marxismo en que “los obreros no tienen patria” y con el liberalismo clásico en la idea de libertad de circulación, por eso

La idea de igualdad, que precede a esta ideología es el verdadero fundamento ideológico del socialismo contemporáneo. Igualdad versus identidad nacional, estas parecen ser las ideologías en pugna en el momento presente. conservatism takes ideas from the classic liberalism of the Enlightenment, of John Locke and Adam Smith, and also from the nationalism of Romanticism we can think of the German philosopher Herder and the English thinker Burke. Classical liberalism emphasized the importance of fundamental freedoms of state intervention from Marxism, without the usual nationalization of companies or means of production, as well as the refusal to put the concept of national identity above equality. Unlike Marxism, the idea of equality that precedes this ideology is the true ideological foundation of contemporary socialism. Equality versus national identity seem to be the ideologies in conflict at the present time. 17

The Thirteen Colonies continued their progress at the beginning of the new century. Historian Paul Johnson explains how the population grew four times in thirty years. The differences between North and South would begin to be noticed at this time.

En Virginia el tabaco y posteriormente el añil en las Carolinas se convertirían en una fuente de ingresos de fácil acceso, determinando además la necesidad de importar esclavos para una creciente demanda. In Virginia, tobacco and later indigo in the Carolinas would become an easily accessible source of income, further determining the need to import slaves for growing demand. New England where the standing out of Massachusetts would be, on the other hand, a region that would be dedicated to shipbuilding and manufacturing production.

Despite the laws with which England began to restrict trade with the colonies, they were able to develop a small industry. To give a measure of this development, by the mid-18th century, Philadelphia was already the second most populous city in the British Empire after London.

So, the north would lead to a society of small owners and in the south an oligarchy of planters served by slaves. Except in the colonies dominated by tobacco plantations, you could already see the “country of opportunities” with which immigrants have dreamed of coming to this country.

Fue el llamado Gran Avivamiento que comenzaría en la década de los veinte del siglo XVIII donde descollaría Jonathan Edwards y George Whitefield, quien llego de Inglaterra en 1739 después de haber pertenecido al “Club Santo” origen de las sociedades metodistas. El propio Wesley había intentado ser misionero en Georgia pero la actitud hostil de los colonos de practica anglicana lo había hecho regresar. Una anécdota sobre la estancia de Wesley en Georgia ayudaría a ilustrar las diferencias entre la metrópoli y las colonias.

The westward expansion would also begin, leaving the Appalachian Mountains as the border of it. In this expansion the initiative would be led by Irish immigrants from Ulster, as well as Germans, both Protestant migrations. The possibility of finding cheap land in the boundaries of the original colonies was a great attraction for emigration in addition to the protectionist laws of England. The last colony to be founded was Georgia in 1732. All this would create the climate for a series of events that would mark the lives of the settlers. Until then they had lived in their Anglican, Quaker or Puritan religious traditions. Thirty years into the new century a series of preachers would rise up bringing the necessary renewal. It was the so-called Great Revival that would begin in the twenties of the eighteenth century where Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield would decollate who arrived from England in 1739 after having belonged to the “Holy Club” origin of Methodist societies. Wesley himself had tried to be a missionary in Georgia, but the hostile attitude of the settlers of Anglican practice had brought him back. An anecdote about Wesley’s stay in Georgia would help illustrate the differences between the metropolis and the colonies.

El famoso predicador ingles se había negado a darle la comunión a una joven por haber faltado varios meses a la iglesia, algo que su esposo decidido llevar a los tribunales que dieron la razón al marido. Que un ministro anglicano pudiera ser llevado a corte por una materia eclesiástica muestra cuan profunda se estaban haciendo las diferencias con Inglaterra. The famous English preacher had refused to give communion to a young woman for having missed church for several months, something that her husband decided to take to the courts which proved the husband right. That an Anglican minister could be brought to court by an ecclesiastical matter shows how profound differences were being made with England. However, that America would undergo an impressive change with the Great Awakening.

Filósofos e historiadores han señalado la importancia del protestantismo en el surgimiento del capitalismo pero Europa no sería el mejor terreno para el desarrollo de este debido a la fuerte tradición monárquica. En América habría de darse la circunstancia de un movimiento protestante que no reconocía otra autoridad que la Biblia y dio una unidad de valores a las variadas colonias y, por otro lado, el desarrollo de una economía capitalista, ambas razones constituían un incentivo para constituir una sociedad republicana en las siguientes décadas.

Philosophers and historians have pointed out the importance of Protestantism in the rise of capitalism, but Europe would not be the best ground for the development of this because of the strong monarchical tradition. In America there would be the circumstance of a Protestant movement that recognized no other authority than the Bible and gave a unity of values to the various colonies and, on the other hand, the development of a capitalist economy.

Jonhson señala como en un juicio por calumnia contra el gobierno ingles en New York, donde el acusado era un director de periódico fue absuelto por el jurado basado en la verdad de la información difundida. Both of these reasons constituted an incentive to form a republican society in the decades that followed. Respuesta: Es cierto que yo recomiendo la oración diaria, porque ésta es una conversación entre un individuo y su Padre Celestial. Sucede que a menudo pedimos cosas que no corresponden, ya que las deseamos para satisfacer nuestro yo egoísta y no necesariamente para glorificar a Dios.

Answer:

Ante todo quiero aclarar quién es un verdadero “hijo de Dios”. La Biblia dice en San Juan capítulo 1: “Pero a todos los que le recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les concedió el poder de convertirse en hijos de Dios”. Así que todo aquel que tiene a Cristo en su corazón, se convierte en un hijo de Dios. El verdadero hijo de Dios anhela hacer Su voluntad, y la voluntad de Dios se encuentra en la Biblia. El que no tiene a Cristo morando en su corazón no tiene derecho de esperar respuestas a sus oraciones, ya que no tiene una conexión firme con el Padre celestial. En segundo lugar, el pecado obstaculiza la oración. La Biblia nos dice en 1 Juan 1: “Si confesamos nuestros pecados, El es fiel y justo para perdonar nuestros pecados y limpiarnos de toda maldad”. Es posible que usted no esté recibiendo respuesta a sus oraciones porque hay algo oculto en su vida personal. De ser así, debe confesarlo a Dios y arreglar la situación. Analice su conciencia y corazón y pregúntese en la quietud de su alma si hay algo que ha dicho o hecho, o quizá maquinado en su mente, algo que debiera arreglar y limpiar ante Dios. Días o meses más tarde, al analizar una petición que le hicimos a Dios, muchas veces nos damos cuenta de que lo que pedíamos era una insensatez y le damos gracias a El que no concedió lo que habíamos pedido. Cuando pidamos algo a Dios, hagámoslo con la convicción y resolución de que nos someteremos a su sabia voluntad. Si Dios no nos responde en un tiempo prudente, entonces sabremos que lo que pedimos no era la voluntad divina. Pero puede estar seguro de que Dios le mostrará por qué no le contestó.

It is true that I recommend daily prayer, because this is a conversation between an individual and his Heavenly Father. It happens that we often ask for things that do not apply, since we desire them to satisfy our selfish self and not necessarily to glorify God. The true son of God yearns to do His will, and God’s Will is found in the Bible. He who does not have Christ dwelling in his heart has no right to expect answers to his prayers, since he does not have a firm connection with the Heavenly Father. Second, sin hinders prayer. The Bible tells us in 1 John 1: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” It’s possible that you may not be receiving an answer to your prayers because there is something hidden in your personal life. If so, you must confess it to God and fix the situation. Analyze your conscience and your heart, and ask yourself in the stillness of your soul if there is something you have said or done, or perhaps plotted in your mind, something that you should fix and clean before God. Thirdly, we must walk with God so that He can answer our prayers. 1 John chapter 5 declares: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” And in John chapter 9 we read: “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.” Not every petition we make to God receives an answer because the knowledge of God’s Will is acquired gradually. Days or months later when analyzing a petition we made to God, we often realize that what we asked for was foolishness, and we thank Him for not granting what we asked for.

Dios siempre le hará saber en su corazón si la respuesta es positiva o negativa. Pero no cese de orar. Aprenda a hacerlo teniendo siempre en cuenta que se haga la voluntad de Dios.

When we ask God for something, let us do it with the conviction and resolve that we will submit to His wise Will. If God does not respond to us in a prudent time, then we will know that what we ask was not the Divine Will. But you can be sure that God will show you why he did not answer. On the other hand, if what we ask is in accordance with the Will of God, and logically it is for our good, God will be willing to grant us that request at the appropriate time. God will always let you know in your heart if the answer is positive or negative. But don’t cease to pray. Learn to do this by always taking into account that God’s Will be done.

Incontables son los lugares que se me ha permitido ir, desde entonces de los cuales las vivencias, tanto para mí como para los cubanos, son extraordinarias, pues mucho se aprende de ese pueblo, de ese remanente de cristianos que se mantienen firmes y creciendo con un gran fuego y avivamiento por todo el largo y ancho de la isla, donde se aprecia palpablemente que es Dios trabajando en sus corazones.

En las mismas se ha contribuido con siembras para el presupuesto de salarios a misioneros y pastores, a reparaciones y trabajos constructivos en locales de las iglesias, también con donaciones de artículos como televisores, ventiladores, lavadoras, instrumentos musicales, motorinas, bicicletas, laptos, tablets, teléfonos celulares, ropa para los ministerios de danzas, Split para casas pastorales y habitaciones de alojamiento como, por ejemplo, en el Campamento Canaán, en la provincia de Villa Clara de la Iglesia Metodista. El Señor también nos ha permitido ser de bendición, llevando palabra de refrigerio, dirección y guianza divina, además de poder ser ministrado a través de hermosas melodías de salmistas reconocidos que han puestos sus dones al servicio de este proyecto.

The churches, camps and missions visited have been from different denominations but with the same love for the Lord and His work. We have contributed with sowings in them for the budget of salaries to missionaries and pastors, for repairs and construction jobs in the premises of the churches, also with donations of items such as televisions, fans, washing machines, musical instruments, motorinas, bicycles, laptops, tablets, cell phones, clothes for the dance ministries, split for pastoral houses, and lodging rooms such as the Canaan Camp in the province of Villa Clara of the Methodist Church. The Lord has also allowed us to be a blessing by bringing a Word of refreshment, direction, and divine guidance as well as being able to be ministered through beautiful melodies of recognized Psalmists who have put their gifts at the service of this project.

Sabemos que todo lo que hasta hoy se nos ha permitido hacer es solo el comienzo, que paso a paso iremos en el camino, enriqueciendo y fortaleciendo más en el Señor esta encomienda para la Gloria de Dios, confiados en quien nos guía y nos sustenta.

Primeramente, el origen del rechazo comenzó con el Ángel Lucifer que hoy es Satanás. Lucifer rechaza la autoridad de Dios y se rebela contra Dios.

El médico me dijo que él no pasaría muy seguramente de esa noche / The doctor told me that he would not be alive very surely that night We were coming from a marriage destroyed by alcoholism, the lies and infidelity of my husband Tito. We came to the feet of Jesus trying to restore my home. My husband attended for a while, but the world caught him again. On June 2017, already with the decision made to divorce my husband Tito, he suffered headaches that were not relieved with any medication. The doctors found a brain tumor which led to surgery. When he came out of surgery, the recovery was complicated as he fell into a coma the next day.

Veníamos de un matrimonio destruido por el alcoholismo, las mentiras e infidelidad de mi esposo Tito. Llegamos a los pies del Señor tratando de restaurar mi hogar. Mi esposo asistió a la iglesia por un tiempo, pero el mundo lo atrapó nuevamente. Para el año 2017, en el mes de junio, ya con la decisión tomada de divorciarme mi esposo Tito, presentó dolores de cabeza que no se le quitaban con ningún medicamento; encontrando los médicos un tumor en el cerebro, llevándolo a cirugía. Al salir se complicó la recuperación ya que, al día siguiente, cae en estado de coma.

The doctor told me that he most surely would not make it through that night, but I believed in my God, who can do anything. I began to cry out for him, my cry before the Lord was to forgive him, to give him the opportunity to do things right, and not to take him.

El médico me dijo que él no pasaría muy seguramente de esa noche, pero yo le creo a mi Señor, al que todo lo puede. Empecé a clamar por él, mi clamor ante el Señor era que lo perdonara, que le diera la oportunidad de hacer las cosas bien, que no se lo llevara.

I found myself alone with him, seeing him in bed, and I remembered when my Jesus healed people, he always said “RISE UP AND WALK.” And at that moment, the Lord gave me the song “Levantame (Raise me up).” And so, he managed to spend the night and a few days later he woke up; but he had lost his memory, he didn’t even know his name.

Me encontraba sola con él, viéndolo en la cama y recordé cuando mi Jesús sanaba a las personas siempre decía “LEVÁNTATE Y ANDA”. Y en ese momento, el Señor me regaló la canción: “Levántame”. Y así logró pasar la noche y a los pocos días despertó, pero había perdido su memoria, no sabía ni como se llamaba.

And once again the doctor told me that my husband would not be the same. Half of his body was not functioning, but I would repeat all the time, “I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.”

Y nuevamente me dijo el médico que mi esposo no quedaría igual: no le funcionaba la mitad de su cuerpo, pero yo le repetía todo el tiempo: “TODO LO PUEDO EN CRISTO QUE ME FORTALECE”.

El volvió a caminar, a recordar, logró salir al mes del hospital; caminando y recuperado, pero nos fuimos con el diagnóstico que el tumor era cáncer grado cuatro. Tenía que empezar tratamiento de radioterapia y quimioterapia por un año, pero para la gloria de Dios mi esposo a los pocos meses estaba sano.

He walked again, remembered again, managed to leave the hospital a month later walking and recovered; but we left with the diagnosis that the tumor was stage four cancer. He had to start radiation therapy and chemotherapy for a year, but to the glory of God my husband was healthy a few months later.

No solo se sanó del cáncer físico, El Señor lo sanó de muchos cánceres espirituales

Not only was he healed physically of cancer, The Lord healed him of many spiritual cancers.

Con nuestro matrimonio y hogar restaurado, ahora le servimos al Señor como familia llevando este testimonio a muchas partes y corazones que necesitan ser levantados por nuestro DIOS.

With our marriage and home restored, we now serve the Lord as a family by taking this testimony to many parts and hearts that need to be raised by our God.

El siglo III vivió, con Diocleciano, la última gran persecución de los cristianos. Poco después de la muerte de este emperador vendría el edicto el Milán en 313 que establecía la tolerancia hacia el cristianismo. Constantino se había logrado adueñar del Imperio Romano de Occidente. La conversión de este último emperador en 312 para muchos historiadores seculares era puro oportunismo para ejercer control sobre la iglesia. En esta interpretación de lo acontecido puede verse la influencia de las escuelas históricas que ven el móvil económico en la historia. Esta idea parece ser apoyada James J. O’Donnell, cuando afirma que el afán centralizador de Constantino nunca había existido en el Imperio. En este sentido afirma, que cuando Constantino escribió a Arrio y Alejandro, obispos involucrados en una controversia sobre la Trinidad que más adelante analizamos, “estaba pertúrbado porque ellos habían llevado a la luz una discusión que consideraba estéril” . The third century lived the last great persecution of Christians with Diocletian. Tertuliano se había distanciado de las ideas de San Justino (100-165). En su monumental obra, Macculloch explica que Justino “estaba tan preocupado por remarcar la diferencia entre el Padre y el Hijo al punto de llamar a el Logos como el que había hecho todo en número y no en mente”. Justino había enfatizado la Divinidad de las tres personas de una forma que parecía comprometer la unidad de Dios, por lo que a veces ha sido acusado de subordinacionismo, o sea, suponer al Hijo inferior al Padre.

It is at this moment that the church begins to breathe a peace that it had not known in its two previous centuries, where dangerous heresies arise. I mean in number not in mind.’” Justin had emphasized the Divinity of the three persons in a way that seemed to compromise the unity of God, for which he has sometimes been accused of subordinationism, that is, supposing the Son inferior to the Father. Here comes the problem of relations between Neoplatonism and Christianity. The ideas of the Neoplatonic philosophical school established the existence of an absolute Unity - the One - from which derived the Logos or Reason that illuminated every man and hence other emanations. Christian theologians would seek in this Neoplatonic procession that went from unity to multiplicity, a model to explain the Trinity. Tertullian, although apparently rejecting this trend that would later become dominant in patristics, is known by a phrase “I believe because it is absurd.” Apparently, he was influenced by these ideas. From his view of the Trinity the Catholic theologian John Chapman says: Tertullian has the true formula for the Holy Trinity, three Personae, una Substantia. Here the Greek point of view is the previous one we mentioned about philosophers. The desire to fight still exists, but I no longer fight against the inner demons. Now, I fight to fulfill the calling of God in my life.

Que en todas las comidas estén presentes los farináceos como pasta, arroz, patata, pan… Asegurarnos que durante la semana ingieren como mínimo dos días las legumbres y que el aporte de fruta también sea el adecuado.

Today looking in the trunk of memories, we found a photo from 2007 when one of our volunteers who weekly goes to the Metro West correctional facility had a graduation of more than fifty brothers. We made him a meal which we didn’t have any problems with because I was the chaplain assigned to that institution. Together with counselor Matthew, God joined us as brothers in the Spirit to accomplish his task in that institution.

Hoy buscando en el baúl de los recuerdos, encontramos una foto del 2007 cuando unos de nuestros voluntarios que semanalmente van al correcional de Metro West tuvieron una graduación de más de cincuenta hermanos. Le hicimos una comida el cual no tuvimos ningún problema porque yo era el capellán asignado para esa institución. Junto con el consejero (counselor) Mateo, Dios nos ligó como hermanos en el Espíritu para llevar acabo su tarea en esa institución. Cuando conocí al consejero Mateo debido a una conversación dentro del Penal al ver su esfuerzo para ayudar a los confinados, no me vi con otra alternativa que ofrecerle mi ayuda. Empezamos a hacer proyectos para todos aquellos que se enredan en la escuela de superación personal. Una vez que terminaran sus clases entonces podrían disfrutar de los beneficios que nosotros les ofrecíamos.

When I met Counselor Matthew because of a conversation within the prison when I saw his effort to help the inmates, I did not see any alternative but to offer him my help. We started doing projects for all those who get tangled up in the school of self-improvement. Once they finished their classes then they could enjoy the benefits that we offered them.

Muchos comenzaron a enrolarse debido a que la voz se fue regando en todos los dormitorios del penal. como “Noche de Películas” donde les ofrecíamos ver películas educativas, cristianas e inspiracionales, banquetes de comidas para el día de graduación como para el día de los padres y días festivos. La lista de espera tuvo un aumento de tres meses para poder enrolarse. Estos recuerdos son los que me animan a continuar cada día con más fervor hacia las metas y desafíos que los logros acarrean cuando tratamos de alcanzar las vidas de todos aquellos que necesitan del Señor Jesús. Hoy por hoy, continuamos con programas y proyectos que van aterrizando en nuestros corazones, como en la prisión de Avon Park C.I., con un programa llamado “Rebounce”, con el hermanito confinado Elliott. También con los veteranos de guerra confinados en las prisiones, con los cuales me siento privilegiado de poder trabajar, ayudándoles como agradecimiento por lo que ellos hicieron por nosotros: el poder vivir en una gran nación con tremenda libertad. Estos veteranos de guerra pusieron sus vidas por Ud y por mí. Hoy yo pongo mi tiempo y amor por ellos como lo hizo Jesús por todos nosotros.

The waiting list for enrolment had a three-month increase to enlist. These memories are what encourage me to continue each day with more fervor towards the goals and challenges that the accomplishments bring when we try to reach the lives of all those who need the Lord Jesus. Today, we continue with programs and projects that are landing in our hearts, such as Avon Park C.I., with a program called “Rebounce,” with the inmate Brother Elliott. Also, with the war veterans confined in prisons, with whom I feel privileged to be able to work, helping them in gratitude for what they did for us: to be able to live in a great nation with tremendous freedom. These war veterans put their lives on the line for you and me. Today, I give my time and love for them as Jesus did for all of us.
