ON BEHALF of our management team and the Board of Directors, I

would like to take this opportunity to wish all Aliante residents a Happy, healthy, prosperous and safe New Year! I personally want to thank the following people for all they did to make our 2023 Aliante Community Winter Wonderland event the success it was. They all helped make hundreds of children extremely happy.

• A very special thank you to Jessica Acevedo, Lifestyle Coordinator for her tireless efforts to make this and all our social events successful. We have now completed the removal of all non-functional turf along our streets and replaced it with drought-tolerant plants as required by Assembly Bill 356, which bans “nonfunctional” turf. The association spent $1,183,900 to comply with the law. We have received one rebate from Southern Nevada Water Authority in the amount of $219,827. We have begun the process of submitting documentation for the final SNWA rebate which is also expected to be more than $200,00. The net cost to the association to comply with the law is expected to be $764,000, paid with funds that were readily available without the need for a special assessment. Most importantly, the association is expected to save 16,571,500 gallons of water annually!

Maintenance Report: November 2023 Maintenance • On Nov. 1st we reduced watering days from 3 days a week to 1 day a week. This watering schedule will be in effect until March 1st 2024. • Between October 31st and November 7th. Areas on Decatur –Rome-Deer Springs North and Dorrell were serviced. • We are currently working on Clayton between Dorrell and Deer Springs, once this area is completed, we will service Clayton between Deer Springs and Centennial Pkwy. we will be in the area until Nov,. 15th. • On Nov. 16th we will start service On Grand Teton. We will service the area until November 22nd. • Tree management plan for our mature trees in the Aliante Master- This plan includes but not limited to the following: – CROWN LIFTING: Removing the lower branches of the trees canopy. This is often done to allow more light, make room for buildings/ cars. Making trees liveable so as to retain and extend their lives for years to come. – CROWN THINNING: Selectively removing interior branches and thinning branch tips. This method is particularly useful if the tree has been badly pruned in the past. Photos: (right top row) crown lifting and thinning for pedestrian clearance, winter pruning of Texas Rangers, warranty plant replacement. (Bottom row) plant replacement, backflow preventor repair, sidewalk concret repair/replcement.

– CROWN REDUCTION: When a tree had outgrown its location sympathetic pruning of the overall crown of the tree can help with aesthetic balance of the tree. – STRUCTURAL PRUNE: Formative pruning is a great investment in your tree for the future. Common techniques involved removing structural faults in young trees such as crossing branches and tight faults (which may lead to major limb shedding as the tree matures). – CROWN CLEAN: Crown cleaning involves removing dead, dying or diseased branches – DEAD-WOODING: Removing all dead, dying or diseased branches, twigs, limbs, and growth on a tree. This can be particularly helpful to avoid storm damage from falling branches. • Also, as part of our Winter pruning plan, we’ve started removing the lower branches off the Texas Rangers. By removing the lower branches and dead wood from the Texas Ranger we can keep debris from collecting underneath the plant, this pruning can also keep the plant in good health and provide an aesthetically pleasing plant. Texas Ranger pruning is done with our regular maintenance schedule during the cooler moths of the year Nov- Feb. • The Flowers on all pots in the community will be replace in the following weeks.

Southern Nevada Toasts to a Sustainable Future AS WE RING IN THE NEW YEAR, let’s raise a glass and toast the commu-

nity’s continued commitment to conserve water in 2024. Since water is an extremely limited resource in our desert commuaaacan result in significant savings. The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) is currently working to achieve its goal of 86 gallons per capita per day (GPCD) by the year 2035; in 2022, Southern Nevada’s GPCD was 104 and 2023 will be even lower. This new goal addresses changing conditions in the Colorado River Basin and recognizes that additional progress is needed to improve water efficiency and maximize the community’s available water supply. Although a wet winter combined with lower water demands increased Lake Mead water levels in 2023, it’s important to know that one good year of favorable hydrology will not reverse the decades-long drought along the Colorado River, as Lake Mead levels are still down more than 140 feet. By conserving water at home, you can help the community save our limited water supply. Let’s make water conservation part of everyone’s New Year’s resolutions. Here are some ways you can save: Change Your Watering Clock Each Season: It’s one of the simplest yet best ways to conserve water in Southern Nevada and it can help you save money, improve the health of your landscape, and avoid

water waste fines. Mandatory winter watering restrictions in effect now through Feb. 29, which limit watering to one assigned day per week. Watering is never allowed on Sundays. Upgrade to a Water Smart Landscape: Convert your thirsty-grass to water-efficient plants and trees through the SNWA’s Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program (WSL) and get a cash incentive of up to $3 per square foot. Plus, earn a bonus of $100 for every qualified tree installed. F ind and Fix Leaks: Household leaks can be silent and costly. Find out how you can detect, locate, and repair leaks in your home at snwa.com. Report and Prevent Water Waste: From irrigation overspray to leaking lines, water waste drains our community’s limited water supply. Your local water provider offers on-line tools including apps for your mobile device to help report water waste anonymously; also, take time to inspect your property’s irrigation system for leaks to help save water and money on your monthly bills. Every drop saved is a resolution kept! For more information about SNWA rebates, coupons and programs that can help you save water and money, visit snwa.com.

Water Quality Homeowners may find themselves asking, how can I improve the taste of my tap water? Listed below are some FAQs to help you be aware of your water quality. Put a pitcher of tap water in the refrigerator: The chlorine will dissipate. After just a few hours, you’ll notice an improvement in flavor!

What is hard water? Water is considered “hard” when it contains a high level of dissolved minerals. Hard water can make it difficult to produce lather (or suds) while washing. It also can leave a chalky build-up on fixtures and spots on glassware. These effects are solely

Add a lemon to your glass of water, it eliminates the chlorine taste. Filter your water: There are hundreds of filter options at varying costs. Why does my tap water appear milky or cloudy? Drinking water can sometimes look “milky” or “cloudy.” This cloudiness occurs when air becomes trapped in the water. This does not affect water’s safety and will not harm household plumbing systems. Fill a glass with tap water and set it on the counter. Observe the water for a minute or two; the water should clear up. Do you at times find particles in your water? White particles in the water can indicate that mineral deposits or scales that have formed on piping or plumbing fixtures have dislodged and come loose. Black Particles that appear to be black and float to the surface could either be degrading carbon filter from an at-home water treatment system, water softener resin, or plumbing components (such as rubber gaskets). It is important to replace plumbing parts routinely to avoid degradation.

aesthetic—they don’t affect your health. Be Water Smart! Simple measures in and around your home can have a big impact! Don’t hose off sidewalks, driveways, or other hardscapes. Sweep them off instead. Install automatic shut-off nozzles on hoses. Be sure lawns don’t have excess runoff after watering and all sprinklers are in good working order. Don’t water within 48 hours of measurable rainfall. Southern Nevada’s municipal water supply meets or surpasses all federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards.
