Our Story Founded in 1971, the Isla Vista Youth Projects (IVYP) has been a vital component of Isla Vista and Goleta for 45 years, providing comprehensive assistance to children and families regardless of income. What started as a grassroots organization serving 12 children daily has grown into multi-program, award-winning agency strengthening nearly 2,000 families annually. Since Isla Vista is a high-poverty area in Santa Barbara and due to the recent tragic events in Isla Vista, it is more imperative than ever that we continue to provide services to this underserved community.

In 2014, IVYP was awarded “Non-Profit of the Year” by the Goleta Chamber of Commerce.

Moreover, our Preschool Program received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the equivalent of being a blue-ribbon school.

IVYP operates a Child Development Program (the Isla Vista Children’s Center), serving infants, toddlers, and preschool students, an After-School and Summer Enrichment Program, and a Family Resource Center. Our services benefit children and parents, as children are empowered to succeed through an enriching educational environment while parents are able to work, attend school, and receive resources to strengthen their family. IVYP also leads THRIVE Isla Vista, a county-wide initiative preparing children for kindergarten and academic success.

Secure our Center at 6842 Phelps Road This is where we care for 130 children ages 0-5. In purchasing the building, it will be become the permanent home for our award-winning early care program serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and ensure our tenure in the community!

Owning our building outright will also give us the opportunity to increase the funding directly for our programs and services.

Improve the Family Resource Center This will create an environment for enhancing parenting skills, case management, and the delivery of many services to our community.

Our center is the only Family Resource Center in Isla Vista and all of Goleta. We are committed to providing this vital service to families in our community.

Go Solar As a Green-Certified Program, our commitment to the environment is very important. Installing solar panels not only reduces our environmental impact, but will also reduce our expensive monthly electricity bill—freeing up more funding for our programs.

Remodel and Reconfigure our 4 sites, which serve 2,000 people a year With our 45-year tenure in the community, it is time to remodel and reconfigure our four active sites: the Children’s Center, AfterSchool and Summer Enrichment Program, Family Resource Center, and administrative offices. With the upgrades, we will more efficiently serve our community for generations to come.
