A Playful Fusion of Bold Textiles and Unexpected Details
Grounded in neutral finishes, this refined home allows texture and pattern to take the spotlight. Layered wallcoverings and carefully curated artwork, transform traditionally overlooked passageways into moments of expression. In the kitchen, rich green counter stool backings add depth, while the dining room strikes a whimsical balance featuring chairs covered in Pierre Frey’s Tiger Motif that contrast boldly with blue hair-on-hide legs, blending play and sophistication.
In the great room, a Pierre Frey desert inspired wallcovering adds personality to the fireplace niches, creating a cool focal point. A cream velvet sectional and neutral rug anchor the space, while cobalt ottomans and green swivel chairs echo surrounding accents, adding vibrant contrast and unexpected detail.
A soothing mix of neutrals, soft prints, and elegant textures define this serene primary suite. Gold-leaf nightstands add subtle glam, while a custom plush shearling bench enhances warmth and comfort. Layered lighting—from alabaster lamps, brass reading sconces, and a teardrop chandelier—creates an ambiance and mood that shifts throughout the day.
This custom upholstered bed in a geometric pattern makes a striking first impression upon entry. The raw nature of the wallcovering complements the bed, adding layers of visual depth and texture. This intentional interplay between the textiles infuses this guest suite with just the right amount of color and personality. Brushed brass mid-century inspired mushroom lamps enhance the surrounding warm tones, while deeper wood tones in the furniture ground the space.
We love the juxtaposition between the bold bed and softly textured walls in this stylish and inviting retreat. A Garden of Eden inspired headboard pairs with a hair-on-hide frame in cerulean blue for a graphic focal point. Decorative pillows tie the palette together, while light oak nightstands offer a touch of warmth and balance.
This girl’s bedroom is undeniably striking, yet still soft and charmingly feminine, with blush tones, gold accents, and playful prints layered across textiles and decor. Sculptural origami sconces add a delicate, artful touch while colorful popsicle artwork and iconic Beverly Hills photographs inject a sense of fun and nostalgia, making the room feel lively and unique.
This boy’s bedroom features a custom built-in headboard upholstered in a camel and cream striped hair-on-hide set against this striking geometric wallcovering for additional depth and texture. The pops of deep navy and bright yellow hues bring a playful touch while maintaining a neutral masculine palette.
“Life should be chic, glamorous, and colorful—and so should your home.”

Favorite Getaway?
The Greeno – Greenough, MT. I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot in this life, and there’s not much better than this place under a fresh blanket of snow.
Guilty Pleasure?
A large Bob dip and a Mexican martini from Matt’s El Rancho in Austin, Texas. Queso, guac, picadillo, tequila, and lime juice— need I say more?
What are you reading right now?
Confessions of an Art Addict by Peggy Guggenheim. The foreword by Gore Vidal is a gem.
Who’s iconic to you?
Prince. I’m in a purple phase. On his debut album For You, he played all 27 instruments and produced the whole thing. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around that kind of genius. What can’t you live without? Lifting weights. I’m completely hooked. “There are no wounds the iron can’t heal.” – Joe Gold
Describe your work in 3 words: From the heart.
Is there a specific moment in your career that defined your artistic vision?
I had caught the design bug when I was transitioning between careers and I hired a designer to help me furnish my space. During the process, I purchased a gorgeous custom carpet and I was struck by the artistry behind selecting patterns, colors, and sizes to create a tailormade piece. Although I filed that experience away, it stayed with me. A couple of years later, I had a memory flashback in the middle of the night where I remembered my father creating mosaic artworks out of hide textiles. One particular client had asked him to craft a rug, and I distinctly remembered how beautiful it was. That was the moment the idea hit me: What if I could create carpets for interior designers using hide, much like my father did but in a more contemporary style? That was my “aha” moment, the lightbulb that ignited what Kyle Bunting is today.
Talk us through your design process, from concept to finished design. What does that process look like?
There are two sides to our creative process: the core of our work is collaborating with designers to bring their visions to life, aligning with their goals and adding value they may not have anticipated. It’s a thoughtful, listening-driven process rooted
in understanding the project and crafting pieces that elevate the space. When we create independently, it starts with a concept and narrative—much like writing a story—that evolves into a collection, allowing for a different kind of creative expression.
Kyle x Alder and Tweed
It was by chance that I met one of Alder and Tweed’s principals during a trip to Southern California. We quickly built a strong personal connection, which naturally evolved into more professional collaboration, leading to us working together designing a number of unique pieces and installations including in Alder and Tweed’s stunning Big Sky showroom. We value collaboration with talented firms like Alder and Tweed, and it’s been a fulfilling experience working with a team that does such top-notch work. I think this relationship reflects how we approach our business—building genuine, lasting connections with designers.
How do you stay inspired as an artisan, and what themes in craftsmanship are exciting you right now?
Design is an intimate form of artistry and I wake up every day excited to create something new with a team of people I genuinely enjoy working with. I’m inspired by the relationships we’ve built with designers and helping them fulfill a creative vision that ultimately grows their business.
In terms of themes, I find everything exciting. I approach everything with an open mind, giving every idea a chance. There’s always something new to learn and contribute to the design world. The beauty of this
industry is how much is always happening—it’s like drinking water from a fire hose, but that’s what makes it exciting.
How do you approach color and pattern when designing custom pieces?
Initially, when we started working with hide it took a lot of experimentation with the material to get the combination of colors, textures, and light response just right. But throughout that learning process, we held to one guiding principle: whatever we create should still look and feel like us. It should carry our studio’s DNA, no matter the material. Much of our success comes from knowing when to step back and let the material
shine, especially when working with a textile like hide, which is naturally so dynamic and expressive. As we’ve worked on interior projects, we’ve come to learn that the vision for what we create is ultimately driven by the space itself and what the designer envisions for it. Our job is to help refine that vision by offering guidance on color harmony, pattern scaling, and how everything will work together in context. The designer decides where the colors are placed and how the pattern comes together, and we focus on layering in just the right amount of nuance to make it feel elevated.

A Peek Into Our New Design Studio
Designed to instantly immerse guests, the Alder and Tweed Big Sky showroom is rooted in the art of hospitality, crafting functional, beautiful spaces that tell a story while embodying livable luxury. A fully outfitted Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen is the heart of the space, while Ketra lighting casts a warm, adjustable glow throughout. Some of our favorite details include handcrafted walnut cabinetry, creamy plaster walls, natural marble, and a stunning Kyle Bunting custom mural. An original David Yarrow photograph adds a Western edge, complemented by vintage Hermès lamps and curated coffee table books that bring layered personality to the space.
This showstopping kitchen pairs rich walnut cabinetry with a sculptural Arabescato marble island, softly rounded for an elegant touch. Open shelving sits between dual refrigerators, offering style and storage. A 48” Wolf range and custom bronze hood are centered in the island to create a chef-worthy focal point. The opposite wall is flanked by a full-service comfort station featuring extra storage, a built-in coffee system, and refreshments for client meetings.
A custom Kyle Bunting cowboy mural sets the tone in this luxe conference room, with a thoughtfully selected color palette to create a true artistic moment.
Lutron lighting simulates the scene, shifting from sunrise to sunset. A fluted table base with Arabascato marble top anchors the room, surrounded by plush chairs, while bronze and limestone shelving add a refined touch, styled with Slim Aarons ski photography for a hint of Big Sky charm.
Guests are welcomed by a striking Calacatta Viola reception desk, elegantly detailed with our logo in brass inlay. A deep blue velvet sofa and asymmetrical marble cocktail table create an inviting seating area, while a custom magazine rack displays curated design books and past lookbooks offering a glimpse into our world. A Kyle Bunting wool and silk rug grounds the space, tying it all together for the perfect finishing touch.

Inspired By the Capri Tiberio Palace Off the Dreamy Almafi Coast
“Staying at Capri Tiberio Palace feels like immersing myself in a living design portfolio. This is more than a hotel stay, it’s a masterclass in interior design that I’ll draw inspiration from for years to come. It’s a space that challenges me to think boldly with color and texture, to curate with intention, and to blend the old with the new. All of it unfolds against the dreamy, cinematic backdrop of Capri, where every detail whispers La Dolce Vita.
One of the standout elements that immediately captures my attention is the Jackie O-inspired wallpaper in the lobby and select rooms. This design choice is a brilliant nod to the glamorous 1960s era when Capri was a playground for icons like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, whose effortless elegance and love for the island became part of its lore. Second are the striped painted floors that immediately draw the eye with their graphic rhythm. The stripes alternate between crisp white and soft sandy, beige, a color pairing that evokes the sun bleached shores of Italy. The lobby feels like the home of a well-traveled connoisseur, with quirky art, retro furnishings and a mix of textures that create a sense of discovery. Books, globes and souvenirs are thoughtfully placed to spark curiosity.”
