The Road to Recovery and Healing, Part II Bryan Baysinger, State Evangelist

Last month we were discussing this topic and the things needed to bring recovery and healing to our life. The first thing mentioned that we needed was to remember that this journey in life is a test and we must not forget our triumphs and victories of the past. W e must think on these things to get us over our bumps in the future.

The second problem that Israel had while in the wilderness was that they spoke against their God. God will not tolerate treason!

They allowed their mouth to get them into trouble; more than once.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” The people started to grumble and complain. W hat we say is crucial; it is very important. This is a powerful principle that we should learn quickly, if we don’t it will bring a lot of misery to our lives. Some people are not happy unless they are running their mouths or speaking negative. As children of God we must rise above the negative.

In Numbers 21:5 the scripture says that Israel spoke against God and Moses and they wanted to go back to Egypt. Egypt represents sin! Christ has delivered us from our bondage of Egypt or sin. The people grumbled about the food menu, claiming that they had no food or water and that they detested the manna that God had rained down from heaven. Their grumbling and complaining had become their on self- fulfilling prophecy of gloom and doom. They were speaking death so God was about to bring death. Read Number 14:2 and 28:29 for clarification. It is very sad when people speak a curse on their own selves. W e need to listen to ourselves. Are we speaking life or death? W hat are we speaking out of our mouths? Do we wonder at times why we aren’t receiving the blessings and promises of God? W e should give praise and honor to God and not grumbling and complaining. David said let the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart be pleasing to God. W e should also learn from this section of scripture that we should not speak out against the man or woman of God in whom God has placed over us. David would not touch God’s anointed King Saul, but he would allow God to bring the judgment needed on Saul at His appointed time. God is not pleased when we speak out against those who are over us in the Lord.

They were put there by God and they watch for our souls. So, be careful what you speak out of your mouth or you could fall into the same dilemma as Israel when they spoke out against God and Moses.

The fourth thing they screamed out, “you have brought us out of Egypt to die!” W e know that this was untrue. God brought them out of Egypt to redeem them and to set them free. He brought them to Mt. Sinai and made a marriage covenant with them. Contrary to popular belief among many Christians today, this covenant was to bring freedom, not bondage. He freed them so that they would no longer be a slave to sin and its consequences. It is evident that they were ungrateful and unthankful. They were trusting in the shadow of Egypt instead of being appreciative of His mighty provisions. Consider this-the people had plenty of food-they came out of Egypt with multitudes of herds and flocks. They had plenty of animals for sacrificing, according to God’s laws, and for eating. W hen they screamed for meat they were just complaining because they had plenty of meat to eat. They just wanted the “meatpots” of Egypt. They had plenty of meat, bread (manna) and water. They just desired what they had in Egypt instead of what God was providing. How many times do we fall into this same unthankful dilemma? God meets our needs and supplies us with provision, but we long for what we had when we were under sin. Sin does bring pleasure but it is not what God desires for us.

Because of the curse that they brought upon themselves, God brought serpents among them to destroy. The judgment of God is swift and sometimes seems to be unfair and brutal, but the truth is, He will do whatever it takes to restore His people. Judgment actually speaks of God’s mercy and grace. God must always punish sin but He is much more willing to forgive under His mercy and grace. I thank my God that He still corrects His children and brings them back to Him regardless of how the punishment may appear initially.

The new ceiling has been installed and now preparation for new flooring is in progress. The ladies are getting excited and making plans to go to “Lake Barkley”.

The ladies enjoyed going to Short Creek for their Ladies Ministry program. It is good to have Tara and Savannah back with us after being gone during the month of August. Our prayers go out to Herschell and Shirley Galbreath, they both had sisters to go be with the Lord.

Kairos Team Eddie Mitchell Our Kairos inside team got to witness some absolutely amazing transformations.

I think Satan’s lost some of his best work, but there’s a couple in particular I want to describe to you. A gang member from South Central/Watts/Compton area of L. A. a man who has been shot 6 times and stabbed 3 times, a man who as a child had never heard of a loving Father, a Jesus who died for Him, no Bible stories, no children’s church. Said all he ever knew was a colored bandana and street life. He was facing the death penalty. A few years ago, a lady visiting another prison he was in, planted a seed. That seed planted a few years ago has gotten a lot of watering this weekend. W hat the enemy intended for destruction has been turned into a very powerful testimony of God’s unfailing love and endless mercy and will be used for God’s glory! PTL! There is another man who I have spoken to several times and I’ve cried a couple times as I’ve noticed him worship. He is an elderly man in a wheel chair with both legs amputated just below the knees. He said tonight that one of his greatest desires is that he had legs SO HE COULD GET DOW N ON HIS KNEES TO PRAY!!! I’ll just tell you–I had to come apart as soon as I heard that. “God forgive me for all my little excuses and remind me what a privilege we have to make an altar and kneel as we approach your throne of grace.”

There is so much more I could possibly describe, but the power of God was so completely overwhelming as we sang our last song together. Before leaving tonight you could cut it (Spirit)with a knife. There wasn’t a dry eye. Can’t wait to see what God has planned tomorrow and what He’s going to continue to do long after our team is gone. Keep the prayers coming–they are availing much! To God be the glory!

Harvest Partners Belarus Several good events have taken place during the last two weeks. Let's start with Berezino church. On August 15 we held a children's camp which was attended by 40 children. I was surprised when I saw that half of these children were under 8 years of age.

One of the Sunday school teachers Veronika told me that many parents of these children are alcoholics. But thank God they allow their small children to come to the church on a regular basis.

These two days were filled with a fun, cool games, W ord of God, praise songs and kids laughter. Also in our church in Minsk on the last weekends we had "Back to school" party. W e bought some school supplies for every kid. The whole church prayed for them. And after the service we had a big party with competitions, facepainting, games and lots of candies.

Our main purpose was to encourage our kids to be the light in their schools.

I often visit local children's cancer hospital. It is very close to my house. Now some young people from the church decided to go with me. Together we went there already twice. W e always trying to arrange some activities for the kids. W e play with them checkers, make paper airplanes and boats, do facepainting.

That is what they really love to do. And after that we praying for them. The last time when we left the hospital I told our youth what Jesus said in Matthew 25:3436: " I was hungry and you gave M e food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed M e; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me'.

Than I continue: "You are blessed, because today you visited Jesus". And Masha who did facepainting said: "I can't believe that I just paint Batman face on Jesus!"

W e are so grateful to God that we, as a church, have these kind of opportunities to serve people. W e love to serve !

None of Us Are Ordinary Connie Bernard–Reflections Magazine

Every woman is capable of doing extraordinary things! God has called each of us to simply be the best we can for Him; He will give us what we need to accomplish the extraordinary.

So much of what we do is defined by who we think we are. Nearly everyone deals with low self-esteem on some level, and too many times we as women allow those thoughts and self-inflicted limitations to block our true capabilities and possible accomplishments. While we are renewing our memberships to the “I Can’t Do It Club,” God is waiting for us to realize it has never been about what we can or cannot do but about what He can do through us: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (II Corinthians 12:9, NIV).

It is when we accept that our weaknesses simply allow room for God’s miracle-working power that we understand how ministry truly works. It is not about being extraordinary, it’s about letting God be extraordinary through us. We are His vessels.

God knows exactly how to take every weakness, the same weaknesses that He formed, and use them for great benefit to His kingdom. Someone who goes out and feeds the poor on a daily basis might be doing what she thinks is her normal, daily routine. To

others, however, she is a real hero. Why? Because she is doing extraordinary things for God! What she considers a calling, something that to her is life and breath, others see as an unbelievable task. Your individual calling may feel normal to you but it is God given and therefore extraordinary!

When God “gives you a burden”–a calling–it becomes something you genuinely want to do. When you feel a burning in your heart to do something for God, it really doesn’t matter whether you think you are equipped or not; it is a longing God has specifically placed on your heart that He will help you fulfill. God plants the desire and then equips you to see it fulfilled!

With God, we are all extraordinary women. He has called each of us to be all we can be for Him. He made each of us unique and extra special. None of us are ordinary to Him. “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

God does not ask us to do anything amazingly extraordinary–He simply asks us to do normal, ordinary things He has given us the strength, wisdom, and knowledge to do. To Him it is the ordinary things He expects but because we are filled with His Spirit, the worlds–those around us–consider it extraordinary.
