Tis the Season of Giving

Happy Holidays from the Albany Public Schools Foundation

The holidays are upon us, and we know life gets a little hectic. Be sure to stop and enjoy the sights and sounds of the season. Spend time with friends and family and truly enjoy the spirit of the holidays.

This time of year is also about giving, and we know with your support, we can continue to enrich classrooms and offer students the opportunity to fulfill their dreams of attending college.

Please consider making a donation to the Albany Public Schools Foundation. With your generous support, we can open up new opportunities for Albany’s youth. You can help us achieve our vision of every student, every opportunity to succeed.

Your donation can support… Student Assistance Program to help with college supplies, mentors and scholarships for first-generation students Scholarships for AOS, WAHS and SAHS Graduates Grants for our schools to provide new learning opportunities School and classroom supplies for teachers

Please consider a one-time donation or become one of our monthly heroes with a monthly reoccurring donation.

We are deeply appreciative of your continued support.

Happy Holidays!

Give From Your IRA and Make an Impact Today

“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”

Did you know that you can make a lasting impact on to the Albany Public Schools Foundation through a gift from your individual retirement account (IRA). Your donation can make a difference to the youth in our community.

In 2024, individuals who are 70½ years old or older may use a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) to donate up to $105,000 to qualified charities directly from an IRA. The donation amount can be deducted from their taxable income, potentially reducing their required minimum distributions (RMDs) while supporting a charity. Essentially, it's a tax-efficient way to give to charity using retirement funds.

Why Give From Your IRA?

Tax-Free Giving: QCDs allow you to donate without counting the distribution as taxable income.

Meet RMDs: Satisfy RMDs while reducing your tax liability for donors aged 73 and older.

Lower your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI): A QCD can reduce your AGI, potentially keeping Medicare premiums lower and lowering taxes on Social Security income.

Immediate Impact: Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the impact of your donation.

Giving through your IRA can make a powerful impact on the future of the Albany Public Schools Foundation while maximizing your tax benefits. Please consult with your financial advisor to further explore this opportunity.
