ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INCORPORATED ®

Happy May!... a time when we recognize all the beautiful, colorful flowers that God has created all around us. I wish each of you a Happy Mother’s Day, whether you are celebrating with your mother, being honored as a mother, or remembering the special women who have been like mothers to you. In the first four months of this year, Delta Upsilon Omega continues to grow and carry out the important and necessary work of Alpha Kappa Alpha. We currently have 122 active members in Delta Upsilon Omega chapter. I know we will make a meaningful impact in our communities as Sorors are stepping up to support our programming year.
Last month many of us had an amazing time as we attended the Fascinating 94th Far Western Regional Conference in Bellevue, Washington hosted by the Pacific Northwest. Moreover, Delta Upsilon Omega received EAF Platinum Status- Great work Soror Melanie Curry and Soror Monica Brown was awarded Outstanding Graduate Advisor. Congratulations!
Additionally, there were 1308 Sorors in attendance who enjoyed the informative workshops, sisterly activities, and impactful events that were perfectly planned by many of our very own DUO Sorors. Thank you Sorors who lead, served, and represented. Thank you to our Delegates who busily compiled notes, best practices and sorority updates from the plenary sessions and workshops that will be shared at our upcoming June chapter meeting. Great work to the FWR Conference Committees: Operations (Soror JaiAnana Elliot), Logistics (Soror Leslie Lawson-Sims and Soror Sarah Pritchett), Protocol (Soror Shirley Young), Communications (Soror Jessica Stocks), and Technology (Soror Ravon Lingard). Special Pink Tea Roses to our very own, Madam General Chairman, Soror Katrina Hunt, for your unmatched leadership, endless devotion, and impeccable planning for a Regional Conference that Madam Regional Director, Soror Shelby D. Boagni, will no doubt, fondly remember for many years to come. Well done, Sorors!
We will have a very busy June as we prepare for summer. Remember to mark your calendars to attend our Chapter Barbeque scheduled for June 17 and our upcoming Leadership Seminar in Chicago on July 12-16. Additionally, the Standards Committee is hard at work planning another awesome agenda for our upcoming Chapter Retreat on August 19, 2023. Be ready to put on your creative thinking caps as we come back from summer to continue our programming.
I look forward to seeing you all at our May chapter meeting.
Sisterly with a smile,
