Regional Director’s Note Greetings Sorors! As we began the New Year still facing the challenges of COVID-19, the MidAtlantic Region proved there’s no stopping an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman! Sorors, you have continued to serve with excellence and for that, I am grateful. From your virtual Founders’ Day celebrations to two Impact Days and a dynamic Virginia Legislative Day, you have not missed a single opportunity to keep our commitment to service. Thank you for the ways you made an impact on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as well as the “Pink Goes Red” observance. Your creativity and enthusiasm warm my heart and enlighten our communities! I also appreciate your many invitations to your Founders’ Day events. We have shared virtual hugs and clasped hands in celebrations across the region. As we prepare for the historic 68th Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, please know that although we will operate in a virtual environment, the Planning Committee is excited about the events we have in store for you. If you are registered to attend, please be sure to review the revised “Before You Go” tips for virtual viewing and get ready for a marvelous time! To our newly initiated sorors, your first regional conference may be a virtual one; however, it will be no less informative. The workshops, plenary sessions, and yes, vendors will still give you a full conference experience. Finally sorors, COVID-19 is still with us in both North Carolina and Virginia. Do not let your guard down, even if you have received a vaccine. Let us continue to wear our masks, wash hands frequently and maintain social distancing if you must go out. Please check with our seasoned sorors or those who may not be computer savvy to see if they need help registering for vaccine appointments. We do not want any of our sorors or their family members to miss an opportunity for a vaccine simply because they did not know how to register.
