Regional Director’s Note In 2018, we began this journey of “A New Thing” with excitement and enthusiasm for what we could accomplish together. Armed with fresh ideas, dedicated sorors and innovative chapters, we were able to not only fulfill our commitment of “service to all mankind,” but we also thrived through some of the most difficult days in our sorority’s and our nation’s history. I am extremely proud of how chapters and sorors embraced the Excellence Program with such dedication and creativity. From the very beginning of this administration, support was strong for each of the target programs and our signature program #CAP. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed by Alpha Kappa Alpha or by the communities you have served. Individuals, families and students across the region have been touched by your exemplary service and your extra efforts in the face of challenging circumstances. While all chapters have served with excellence, our undergraduates not only fulfilled their service commitments, but they also excelled academically. Despite being social distanced and not having the on-campus sorority experiences they hoped for, they persevered. The region was blessed to have 21 outstanding Leadership Fellows who represented us marvelously! Sorors, you embraced my vision of “A New Thing” by adapting to our new normal with virtual programming, sisterly relations activities and chapter operations. As a result, the Mid-Atlantic region thrived and is poised to move forward, armed with new technology skills and a resilience that is unmatched in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. At the 66th Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Raleigh, N.C., I declared that our time together ultimately would be the beginning of “an everlasting love”, and sorors, it definitely has been. It has been my joy and my pleasure to meet so many of you in person, visit your chapters, attend your special celebrations and work with you in various capacities. I am richer and more blessed for the experience. I am honored that you trusted me to lead our region during this administration, and although we are nearing the end of my tenure as Regional Director, I am humbled by the love and dedication you have shown. May God bless each of you, the Marvelous Mid-Atlantic Region and our beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. In service,
