Hans Tavens Bibliotek

This library serves as a central point in the local community. It conveniently lays within the paths of three large schools. This drove the circular form which evokes an invitaional feel from every perspective.

COMO COMMUNES This complex of apartments and mixed use structure is located on the west side of downtown Columbia, MO.

COLOR THEORY Application of colored glass in correspondence to the spaces function allows for more integrated spaces.

Red is associated to motivating appetite, therefore applied in the restaurant and bar.

Blue & Green emphasizes calm and peaceful envirnments, hence applied in comunal residential areas.

The main structure houses a restaurant, bar and lounge on the first floor, and mail room and other residential utilities in the basement.

Residents live off the main road further into the site to allow

for less traffic noise. Housing is divided into one and two bedroom units, six units of each.

Housing is aimed at the younger demographic, students or young families. Being in a college town, the demand for short term housing is high. These flexible units are just minutes from the Mizzou campus and only a minute from the grocery store!

PRODUCT DESIGN

Drop-Pod

A startup collaboration in the works ROLE: Designer

Objective Goal of the product is to create a modular system for grocery delivery services to utilize for insulated storage for fresh goods.

Models Depending on the demographic, there were different types of models, including: residential apartment lobby (built-in vs portable), residential front porch, and rural model.

Design Concept of the design originates from PODS and MODULARITY. From client sketches to 3d model, the variation within design allows for fitting in all environments.

Built-in This design

is tailored for

apartment lobbies.

The units are built into the wall with the refrigeration

unit placed behind the wall.

Portable This design is also

tailored for apartment lobbies but allows for more portability. This design relies on the interior material for

insulation, not electrical refrigeration.

Rural Stand

This model is designed for rural areas. The cover allows

for protection from rain while obtaining groceries. Built-in

electrical conduits are placed behind the stand. Colors derive from farming equipment and project a vibrant reflectance from metal, on surrounding environment.

For the finer things in life, like 50-cent Goodwill fine china.

Built from scrap wood, this rainy day project was inspired by elgant display and Japanese wood work.

Spill stains just add character.

Designed around the sectional sofa, this square ottoman serves as a table and storage for the living room.

Condensing various storage underneath the table top reduces clutter.

ANDY KREITER 806 Huntridge Dr. Columbia MO, 65201 Ajkxc9@mail.missouri.edu (480) 619-ANDY Dear Skylab Collective, I am an eagar student wanting to get out into the real world. Although aware of the additional responsibilities that entail, I would like to begin designing for my community in Portland. As I graduate from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Science in Architectural studies from the college of Human Environmental Sciences.

Being a former student-athelete has gave me a strong work ethic and time management skills that allowed me to succeed in the pool and in school.

Sustainability is an essential part of my designs and I saw plently of sustainable qualities throught the Skylab projects.

The Nike campus expansion project is dear to me because it is 5 miles away from my home in Beaverton. Growing up, I always admired the architecture at the Nike HQ and blown away by the recent additions.
