Dedicated to my Family and Snoesje

“Boom, boom!” my feet bumped on the ground. I was running up and down the hard stone stairs of my house. Sweat ran quickly down my face. It was a very dark, damp and cold night. “Snoesje!” I called for the hundredth time. I was searching for my beloved cat. “Why was I so dumb to leave her outside late in the night?” I asked myself softly. I was worried, very worried. It felt like losing a sister to me. I ran back upstairs. I grabbed her food. I hoped she would recognize it. “KRRRRRRR” I listened to the sound of her food. I started to cry, I had no more hope left in my heart.

“SHHH” I listened to the sound of the wind, it sounded like “SHHHH, don’t cry!” I tried to hold my tears back but I couldn’t. I didn’t want to sound like a three- year old. I saw her in the afternoon crossing the street. “Maybe she’s dead” I thought. A cold shiver ran down my spine thinking of the words dead cat. I felt her warm and soft fur pushed against my hands. I felt her soft and cold whiskers touching my face. I missed her, I needed her. “Meow!”My ears popped open. “What!?” I yelled. I looked around me, NO CAT. It was just my imagination.

“HANNAH!” Someone yelled. It was my dad. “TIME TO GO TO BED!” That meant I wasn’t allowed to search anymore. “But dad! I have to find Snoesje!” Still a no. Dad sent me to bed. He kept on searching even though I didn’t know. I couldn’t sleep. I kept on thinking my cat died or ran away. “It’s your fault you lost her” the negative half of me said. “No it’s not. She’ll come back” The positive part said. A war was going around in my head. “YES!” One said. “NO!” the other said. I felt like I was three. The three year old sadness

dripped down my face. I buried my head in my pillow. A little later … The wooden door swung wide open. “PRRR” Something said. It was walking toward me on my bed. “Help!” I yelled. “Oh my, you don’t even recognize your own cat!” Dad laughed. I laughed too. I gave Snoesje a hug. I’ll never lose you ever again!” I said to Snoesje!
