Subject Overview

Media Studies offer pupils the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the key issues surrounding contemporary and legacy media products. It introduces them to a theoretical framework for analysing the media, allowing them to debate the important questions whilst also developing a technical understanding of its production. Pupils also have to demonstrate their understanding of media theory and production through the practical NEA project, an opportunity to create a media text (print/film/music video) in response to a brief set by the examination board.
