This is achieved by means of automated tests which cover all the units and produce instant results. The following modular exams are completed in lesson time throughout Year 10: • Word processing (Level 1 and 2) – 45 minutes • Spreadsheets (Level 1 and 2) – 45 minutes • Presentation (Level 1 and 2) – 45 minutes • Improving Productivity Using IT (Level 2 Only) – 60 minutes

Subject Overview

ICDL is a qualification that aims to teach pupils the basic knowledge and understanding of computer applications and to be able to apply a range of IT user skills and knowledge in the modern workplace. This is taught through Microsoft Office applications.

All pupils will study units in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation. Those pupils taking Level 2 will also complete a fourth unit, Improving Productivity Using IT, which encourages students to use digital skills to improve the productivity and efficiency of work activities, such as summarising data into graphs and tables in written reports.
