Place the artistic activity – Female Industrial School 21, Syrokomli St. Title – ”Restart”
Słowo restart lub reset oznacza zakończenie pracy dowolnego urządzenia elektronicznego w celu ponownego uruchomienia. Nadane jako tytuł wydarzenia artystycznego jest wyświechtane, banalne, szkolne, w złym guście, nieodpowiednie. Zdecydowanie niegodne tej roli, dlatego tak intrygujące. Uważam, że właśnie to słowo, wraz z przywoływanymi skojarzeniami, znakomicie pasuje do działania artystycznego w tym miejscu, czyli przestrzeni zdegradowanej, zniszczonej, naznaczonej śladami ludzkiej egzystencji i powikłanej historii. Tytuł nawiązuje do specyfiki miejsca oraz czasu. Przestrzeń, w której odbył się performance jest ze swej natury niedoskonała, wyjątkowa i nie dla każdego. Nie jest galerią. Moją intencją jest pokazanie siły artysty, który takie miejsce (pospolite, zwyczajne, nieważne), podnosi do rangi sztuki. To miejsce dzięki obecności artysty otrzymało, na chwilę, nową jakość.
The word “reboot“ or “reset“ means the completion of work of any electronic device in order to to “restart”. As the title of the art event, the word is hackneyed, trite, schoolish, in bad taste, inappropriate. Definitely not worthy of this role, therefore it is so intriguing. I think that this word, together with its connotations perfectly fits an artistic activity in this place, that is, in the degraded space, damaged and marked with traces of human existence and complicated history. The title refers to the specific place and time. The space in which the performance was held is inherently imperfect, unique and not for everyone. It is not a gallery. My intention is to show the strength of the artist who raises such a place (common, ordinary, unimportant) to the rank of art. This place thanks to the presence of the artist has received, for a moment, a new quality.
W budynku starej szkoły odzieżowej, na granicy światów realnego i nierealnego jest wąska przestrzeń, w której demony mają rację bytu. To, co niemożliwe wydaje się możliwe w świecie o nieokreślonym porządku. W miejsce dążenia do doskonałości proponuję inną wartość – niedoskonałe, zniszczone, zdegradowane.
In the building of the old sewing school, on the border between the worlds, the real and the unreal, there is the narrow space in which the demons have a raison d’etre. What is impossible seems possible in this world of vague order. In place of pursuing excellence I suggest a different value – the imperfect, the damaged, the degraded.
