Summary of the year.

Head of Department Georgia Foster

Reflecting on this year, it has been an exciting and rewarding experience. Myself and Mr Ullah are thrilled by the outstanding achievements of the year 11 and IB students, who demonstrated exceptional creativity, technical ability, and determination in their coursework and IA projects.

This year has also seen the introduction of our 3D printing suite and Y10 students have worked hard to develop their understanding of using industry standard software to develop innovative outcomes.

Term 1 saw the return of the successful IKEA Makers competition for Y9 students. Students were challenged to design and re -engineer a unique piece of furniture using only the KNAGGLIG box and IKEA components. It was a really tough decision, but well done to Alya Al Alawi who was chosen as the overall winner with her superb bedroom storage piece.

In December the department supported National Day celebrations and Year 10 students had the opportunity to assemble make a falcon as a memory of the day. Students demonstrated their ability to be risk -takers in order to push themselves out of their comfort zone to produce creative outcomes.
