Ramadan means unity, sharing and understanding. We, as DIS community did our best to fulfill these essentials. We came together at DIS Charity Iftar and donated the money collected to Red Crescent. Islamic department and DISPA worked together to organize the event. We also thought of our community. We provided 1,900 meals to construction works who work next to our school through donations. Students, staff and parents dedicated their time to distribute the food. This was a great example of C AS. We did not forget our support staff We determined their needs and started a donation campaign. The participation was incredible. Lastly, we organised a special iftar for IB2 students. They had the chance to come together one last time before they graduate. Ramadan Art Bazaar organised by the Islamic department was also an important event to keep the Islamic values alive.

Deira International School made history on the 2nd of February 2023 by hosting its first ever TEDx event, TEDxYouth@DIS.

The event was an ode to the power of ideas and the importance of platforms like TED that promote knowledgesharing and innovation.

At its core, TED is a global platform that brings people together to share ideas and knowledge that have the power to shape our present and future. Through its annual conferences, TEDx events, and online platform, TED continues to promote innovation, creativity, and collaboration on a global scale.

TEDxYouth@DIS featured diverse speakers, including our school ’s pioneering students - Ishaq Imran, Srinath Satish, Pradyumna Saligram and Ismail Tambawala. As well as Mr Kwame AA Opoku - a leading futurist and Stefania Brunori - a well-being coach.

Mr Simon O'Conor who gave an eye -opening TED talk on the mercurial Gen - Z.

e success of the event was a result of the tireless efts of the organising committee, the IB1 lead - Khushi Desai and Mrs Keyworth.

DxYouth@DIS provided a platform for students to gage in meaningful conversations, learn from experts their respective fields, and to explore new ideas and rspectives.

Deira International School's first -ever TEDx event was a tament to its commitment to providing its students h opportunities to engage with the world and be a rt of the global community of innovators, and changemakers.
