Wellbeing Wellbeing
Summary of the year.
The well-being of students at DIS has remained a priority of the whole community this year. We started the year off in our new classes whilst making new friends and getting to know our teachers. Our Head - teacher assemblies helped us learn about the values and attributes which the DIS community believe makes us a truly respectable and hardworking community We celebrated World Mental Health day in our classes and took part in several activities which raised awareness of the importance of prioritising and speaking about our mental health openly. The implementation of our well-being measurement tool BounceTogether helped teachers create well-being activities within year groups to support students and encourage conversations about mental health. We celebrated Anti -Bullying week, Crazy Hair Day, Odd Socks Day, and Children ’s Mental Health Week to continue encouraging open conversations about our mental health. Through these experiences, children have learnt about the importance of mindfulness, articulating our emotions, conflict resolution, managing big emotions, and many more skills. These all had the common goal to equip students to understand that all emotions we experience are a part of human nature, but the choices we make from that is what helps us live in alignment with our own and our community ’s values.
