Students have had the opportunity to build on their knowledge and skills, whilst also exploring new topics and areas of interest such as Space and the Vikings. Due to Qatar hosting the 2022 World Cup, pupils particularly enjoyed studying this the topic of the World Cup and were asked to work collaboratively to create a bid to host the 2030 World Cup. Students showcased their risk -taking and communicational skills as they shared their digital presentations with their parents. Our thematic curriculum has enabled students to improve their learner attribute skills such as being reflective and balanced. Displaying empathy for others, students have learned about worldwide issues such Fairtrade and natural disasters which has helped them to become global citizens.
Through individual efforts and whole school competitions, students have enjoyed earning House Points this year for their House Teams; Saluki, Oryx, Tahr and Falcon. Peter McLoughlin Year Group Leader

It has been wonderful to see the Year 5 students participate in so many fabulous events that have engaged and immersed them in a range of new experiences that have taken place both inside and outside the classroom. A great example of this was when the students attended the overnight camp where they took part in a range of risk -taking activities such as trebuchet making, kayaking and snorkeling. The children really enjoyed the Viking dress up day and took great pleasure in welcoming parents into school to showcase some of the fantastic work they have produced across a range of subjects.
Year 5 have actively participated and contributed to a range of special events that have taken place in school this year including: CAS Launch Day, Sports Day, Beauty and the Beast Production, National Day visit to Al Shindagha Museum and many more. One of the highlights of the year was International Day where students celebrated their heritage and nationality whilst learning about other cultures from their peers.
