Wow! What an amazing year we have had in Year 1!

Summary of the year.

Wow! What an amazing year we have had in Year 1!

Shauna Marron.

Year 1, in our eyes (although we are biased) is one of the most important years in the primary school. Students begin to develop foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and socialisation. This year in literacy, students have developed their writing skills and produced a wonderful book titled All About Animals The children have begun to read fluently and each day we were impressed by their constant eagerness to develop their skills. In addition, the children have become articulate thinkers, expressing themselves with confidence. In numeracy, students have learned to recognise numbers to 100 (wow!). The children can now add, subtract, multiply and divide. Lots of children have been spotted counting in twos and fives in the playground – putting their numeracy skills into real life action. This year, socialisation has been a key aspect of our learning to ensure that the children become holistic individuals. The children have learned how to interact with others in a classroom setting, follow rules and routines, and develop their emotional and social skills. To say that this year has been a success would be an understatement! These amazing children will progress to Year 2 now with the solid foundation for academic and social success.
