Director’s Messagge

I am delighted to welcome you to our Yearbook for the year 2022 -2023. I am so pleased that we have b een able to reintroduce this initiative which aims to capture the action-packed year of the school, as well as pro viding a lasting record for all in o ur community. I hop e that these pages give you a little insight into the year we h ave all enjoyed here at Deira International School.

Over the course of the year, we h ave been focussed on instilling and embedding our core values – those of Respect, Collaboration, Int egrity and Excellence. These are also the values of the Al Futtaim G roup. As I am sure you also agree, if children are to be equipp ed to thrive for the remainder of their lives, they will n eed far more than academic qualifications – important th ough they are. The explicit development of our school culture is intended to help everyone at the school understand the foundations of what we do – the ‘Why’. This work has already brought profound change to the school and I am excited to see how it develops further over the coming years.

This year Deira Int ernational School was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by the Du bai School In spection Board for the first time. T his is a huge achievement and the con sequence of enormous amounts of work over the last 2 years I am continually humbled by the dedication and h ard work of all ou r staff. This is a constant reminder that, in the words of the internatio nal campaign – Teachers Matter! But it is also important to note and celebrate the crucial role that parents play in their children’s success. Without your suppo rt of the scho ol and your engagement in your child ’s learning, much of the success outlined in this book would not have been achieved. The school is now, rightly, recognised as one of the leading schools within the UAE. I know how proud all of the community are for this achievement and I am hugely grateful to those who have reached out to express this Please do have a look at the report, which is available on the school website, as it wonderfully reflects the school. I would like to pay particular thanks to the Al Futtaim Education Foundation, without whose continued passion and support none of this would be possible.

It only remains for me to wish you a very restful break and I look forw ard to another year of achievement in 2013 -24.
