Come Along Volume 2013 Issue 4

A letter from our outgoing Chapter President,

Dear Chapter Members,

It has been a pleasure serving as your chapter president. Our new president, Shawn Tomlinson (Gates & Controls) will do a great job representing us. It was so nice to see the four new board members come on board. We can always use more help. I will still be around. I am on the education committee for our 2015 West Coast Trade Show that will be held at the beautiful Peppermill Casino in Reno. We will keep everyone in the loop with updated information. I hope to see many of you at this years Fencetech in Las Vegas.

A Chance to Help a Friend in Need...

Written by: Jim Hatfield; Merchant Metals

I want to share some recent news about one of our fellow AFA members, John Rosebeary. John has been battling ESRD (end-stage renal disease) for the past few years. To stay alive, John must undergo dialysis three days a week. The sessions are five hours long. Though it has taken a heavy toll, John continues to go to work so that he can take care of his business, Viking Fence, in Poulsbo, Wa. John has been on the active transplant list and has had several matches. Unfortunately, none were a perfect match. Through it all, John has remained positive and strong for the sake of his wife Janet, and their three daughters, Shelby, Kelsey, and Ashley. Now for the good news. A close family friend (Jonathan Ogilvie) offered to donate his kidney and it was found to be a perfect match! John’s trans4

plant is scheduled for January 14, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. I also want to tell you some things about John Rosebeary you may not know. John defines the word humanitarian. His selflessness and charitable nature has enriched the entire community. John has spent many years as director for the Thunderbird Benefit Rodeo to raise money for Corey’s Day on the farm. John founded Corey’s Day Classic Golf Tournament where all proceeds go to Corey’s Day on the Farm. This two day event is solely designed for special needs children where they experience pony rides, petting zoo, hayrack rides, games, and food. The event draws over 1000 of kids from four counties. John is a humble guy who will drop everything to help someone in need, and never asks for anything in return. Now

Continued... John and his family can use our help. Although John does have insurance, the uninsured expenses that will be imposed on the family will be overwhelming. This is a demand that the family cannot meet without assistance. Although we all find it very uncomfortable to ask others to give, I spare no hesitation in this instance of my friend John Rosebeary. Let’s show him that his

years of charity and generosity has not gone unnoticed. Let’s support John as he has supported others less fortunate. This is a chance for all of us to do something good. What better medicine could a man have than to know people care about him. I ask that you to please consider a donation. https://m.helphopelive.org/ campaign/4371?2.5.523.1 John also recently served on our local Board of Directors .
