Come Along

Volume 2013 Issue 1

A letter from our Chapter President, Hello Chapter Members, I hope everyone survived the holidays and are looking forward to a profitable new year. We held our winter educational meeting followed by our chapter dinner meeting last December. Both events were put together by John Krueger (Metro Access Control) and Alex Weisensee (Pacific Fence). They did a great job! Oregon contractors can earn continuing education credits towards their CCB license by attending our educational seminars. Nonmembers are also welcome to attend. Fencetech 2013 is coming up at the end of February in Houston, Texas. The hotel rooms are going fast, so sign up soon. We are looking for a chapter project. If anyone knows of a non profit that needs some free fence work, please let us know. This chapter newsletter also needs more advertisers. It is distributed to 320 chapter and non chapter members and is a good way to help grow your business and help the chapter out at the same time. You can contact Alex Krueger at the email address in this newsletter. You can place an ad for as low as $300.00 for one full year! We have three new members, Shawn Mooney (Security Fence – Fife, Wa. 253-896-2552), Paul Haas (Wholesale Driveway Gate – Issaquah, Wa. 425-449-9980) and Diane Sowle (Mc Dermott Fence / Portland Fence – Portland, Or. 503-6559619). Please call and welcome them to our chapter. Some upcoming events to look out for: spring education seminar, summer fun and annual membership meeting, winter meeting and chapter project. Look for these events in future newsletters. Thank you,

Winter Education ‘12 A word from our speaker Bryan Baxster from NW Natural:

NW Natural’s Damage Prevention Dept. has been teaching and instructing contractors on the “Dig Safe” laws and regulations since 2004. We do a start to finish break down on the proper procedures for commencing an excavation on a jobsite following the State and Federal dig laws. We are part of the Western Energy Institution, One Call Utility Notification, American Public Works Association, Government Occupational Safety and Health, and numerous others. We visit contractor’s jobsites on a daily basis to help ensure the safety of the public utilities as well as partici-

pate in pre-construction meetings with the contractors to address any conflicts. We are there to serve the general public, and the contractors working around natural gas and the public utilities. Our main goal is to inform and educate the general population on Damage Prevention to Natural Gas Pipelines, and the public utilities.
