The Aesthetics Trends Report is your definitive guide to the most significant advancements that have shaped the field over the past year. The 2025 Report has been compiled in partnership with Ben Pask, founder of Rare: , who here shares the research he has amassed through studying thousands of aesthetic clinics across the UK.
Injectables continue to serve as the commercial cornerstone for the majority of aesthetic clinics. Botulinum toxin remains the most widely administered treatment across the UK, offered by 84% of clinics, with dermal fillers following closely at 68%.
Although growth in these categories has slowed, the latest figures represent a notable recovery compared to the 2023-2024 significant downturn. Over the past 12 months, botulinum toxin saw a 9% increase, and dermal fillers grew by 14%
This marks a clear improvement from the previous year, when Rare: reported a 31% drop in dermal filler treatments and a 16% decline in botulinum toxin demand.
Further market analysis reveals a clear shift in clinic behaviour. In June 2024, 100% of a sample of 6,000 clinics offered injectables exclusively. By June 2025, this figure had dropped to 72%. Over the same period, 23% of clinics expanded their services to include both injectables and devicebased treatments, while 5% had moved away from injectables entirely. This diversification indicates that, while injectables remain commercially vital, clinics are increasingly broadening their treatment menus to incorporate technologies that deliver complementary or alternative results.
Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers remain at the forefront of aesthetic offerings , but their relatively modest growth rates point to a broader market trend: growing demand for alternative and adjunctive treatments that offer regenerative, structural or longer-term outcomes.
“Since the COVID-19 period, we are observing a meaningful shift in the injectables market, away from volume-heavy transformations and towards preventative, regenerative and refined applications. Patients are increasingly seeking subtle, personalised outcomes rooted in science, safety and holistic health. This evolution reflects a deeper desire for authenticity, longevity and overall wellbeing. As the aesthetics specialty matures, there’s growing value placed on natural results, anatomical precision and practitioner integrity, supporting individuals to become the healthiest, most radiant version of themselves, rather than altering who they are.”
Dental surgeon and Aesthetics Clinical Advisory Board Member Dr Souphi Samizadeh
One of the most significant developments in the aesthetics sector is the rapid rise of wellness and longevity-focused treatments. This category is now the third most commonly offered service in UK clinics, adopted by 57% of providers as of June 2025 – a 25% increase compared to the previous year. This growth reflects a clear shift in consumer priorities, from purely aesthetic enhancements to treatments that support long-term health, vitality and overall wellbeing.
Drilling down into specific treatment types, the data reveals striking momentum. Polynucleotides have experienced a 212% year-on-year increase in clinic adoption and are now offered by approximately one in six clinics. Skin boosters, another key regenerative treatment, have grown by 89% over the same period.
Other regenerative therapies also show strong upward trends, with biostimulators increasing by 50%, carboxytherapy by 43% and PRP therapy by 38%. These figures highlight a decisive shift toward biologically active and regenerative solutions, treatments that work with the body’s natural systems to rejuvenate skin at a cellular level, rather than simply masking signs of ageing.
The implications are clear – patients are becoming more informed and selective, gravitating toward evidence-based treatments that deliver both aesthetic and health-related outcomes. As a result, medical aesthetics is expanding beyond cosmetic correction into a broader framework of proactive ageing and integrative wellness. Clinics that successfully adapt, offering treatments grounded in both medical science and long-term wellbeing, will be strongly positioned to lead in this next phase of market evolution.
“In the past year, the longevity field has seen a revolution driven by advanced biomarkers and AI-powered insights, enabling earlier detection of ageing processes and finer personalisation of wellness strategies. Yet, amid this technological progress, the importance of human consultation remains undiminished. Physicians and health experts provide the wisdom, context and empathy that technology alone cannot. True longevity arises when cutting-edge data and AI-driven interventions are harmonised with the guidance of caring professionals, ensuring that the pursuit of lifelong health remains both deeply personal and profoundly holistic.”
Dr Mayoni Gooneratne, aesthetic practitioner, Aesthetics Clinical Advisory Board Member and co-founder of the British College of Functional Medicine
One of the most influential undercurrents shaping the future of medical aesthetics in the UK is the growing emphasis on regulation and patient safety. Over the past 12 months, the field has witnessed several significant regulatory developments. Prominent changes include the Government’s announcement of a proposed licensing scheme, the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) prohibition on remote prescribing and the introduction of the Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures Bill in Scotland.
Data shows that between June 2024-2025, 152 clinics in the UK stopped offering botulinum toxin treatments. Significantly, 99% of these clinics were operated by unregulated providers, such as non-medical practitioners or providers working outside the oversight of relevant healthcare bodies This suggests the early stages of a market correction, with lower-standard operators beginning to exit the
category in anticipation of stricter prescribing rules and enhanced safety requirements.
Interviews with manufacturers further underscore the urgency of reform. Across the board, specialty leaders expressed concern over the lack of enforcement and widespread confusion around product safety. One senior executive voiced ongoing frustration with CE-marked injectables being conflated with unregulated, cosmetic-grade alternatives – leaving patients unaware of critical differences and associated risks.
For both practitioners and product developers, these developments represent a strategic inflection point. Those who prioritise compliance, safety and patient education today will not only be better equipped to navigate regulatory changes but may also secure a competitive edge through greater transparency, professional credibility and public trust.
“Over the past year, the aesthetics sector has undergone a series of important regulatory shifts. Among the most significant are the Government’s announcement of the proposed licensing scheme, the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s decision to prohibit remote prescribing and the introduction of the Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures Bill in Scotland. Together, these changes signal a clear direction – raising standards of safety, accountability and professionalism. By tightening regulation, the sector is moving towards a more responsible and trusted framework that supports both practitioners and the public.”
Sharon Bennett, nurse prescriber and Clinical Lead of the Aesthetics Clinical Advisory Board
In parallel with the rise of wellness-oriented services, the UK aesthetics sector is experiencing a significant expansion in the range of treatments offered by clinics. Where a single-modality approach may once have sufficed, today’s leading clinics are increasingly adopting more comprehensive, more integrative treatment portfolios.
Currently, three in four clinics offer more than one category of treatment. Notably, the proportion of clinics providing eight or more treatment types has risen from 9% to 14% in the past year, while the number of single-treatment clinics has declined sharply. This shift reflects growing consumer demand for holistic, all-in-one care, where patients can access a range of complementary modalities and combination therapies within a single setting.
“In the last 12 months, the aesthetics sector has witnessed a surge in treatment diversification within clinic, as demonstrated through the new data below. Our own personal audit here at Cosmetic Courses supports this, highlighting that 80% of practitioners now provide more than one modality, expanding into areas such as lasers and advanced treatments. Treatment diversification is also significantly emphasised through the theme of longevity, which has boomed in the last year, encouraging practitioners to accommodate patients to this upcoming trend.”
Mr Adrian Richards, consultant plastic surgeon, Aesthetics Clinical Advisory Board Member and director of Cosmetic Courses.
Device-based treatments are central to this expansion. Body contouring is now offered by 68% of clinics that have diversified, making it the most commonly added service. Microneedling follows at 34%, with dermabrasion offered by 23%. The growing adoption of non-injectable treatments not only reflects a shift toward wellness and prevention but also highlights a growing demand for effective, low-downtime procedures that support long-term results.
