SERVICES * Daycare Centre Provides regular care for preschool-aged children. Typically, children are in the centre on a full-time basis Monday' to' Friday, during the day.

Child Care Services CHILD CARE SERVICE A Child Care Service is any service licensed under the Provincial Social Care Facilities Licensing Act that provides care, development and supervision for.7or more children. A Child Care Service can be a daycare centre, an out-of-school care centre, a drop-in centre or a nursery school/play school.

* Out-of-School Care Centre Provides care for school-aged children between the ages of 6 to 12. Children are inthe centre before and after school, during Slunch, and during school holidays. SDrop-In Centre Provides part-time and casual care for children on a drop-in basis. Children are in the centre for 3 or more hours each day, but less than 40 hours each month.

The bylaw accommodates work-based child care centres, as well as facilities -in residential areas, giving parents a rafige of child care options. The preferred location of a Child Care Service is in a residential area. In a residential area, preference will be given to those facilities that are located: * on a corner site;

WHERE CHILD CARE SERVICES CAN BE LOCATED Child Care Services are allowed as discretionary uses in most land use districts.

In a commercial area, the Development Officer will look at the suitability of surrounding development to ensure the proposed facility is in a.safe location. Factors such as traffic, noise and closeness to hazardous uses will be considered. Child Care Services are not permitted along highway corridors or in medium and heavy industrial areas.

space may be considered in some cases; be a cs. be easy to access, * be securely enclosed; * have a shaded area, wind protection aind direct access to sunlight; have a hard surface on 25% of the area, for the use of wheeled toys; * have a length no more than 1.5 times the width. Out-of-school care centres must provide the same amount of outdoor play space as daycare centres. However, an acceptable' alternative is a public park, as long as it is within walking distance of your proposed centre, or within 500 m (1,640 ft.).
