Summer reading program kickoff

Rheinland-Pfalz Library is hosting a summer reading program to encourage reading throughout the summer months for library patrons of all ages. Come out to the summer reading program kickoff party at 11 a.m. June 16. Take this opportunity to learn more, sign up and receive your summer reading program game boards and other materials. Where in the Library is Vinicus?

In celebration of the “Read for the Win” sum-

mer reading program, Rheinland-Pfalz Library is hosting a fun challenge for children ages 12 and under. From June 16 to July 29, the library staff will hide their Olympic mascot, Vinicus, in a new location each day. The first child to find Vinicus wins a prize! No cost to participate. Shark Week at Rheinland-Pfalz Library

KMC Teen Shuttle

Child, Youth and School Services offer a KMC Teen Shuttle service. Pick-up and drop-off points are located throughout Vogelweh, Vogelweh Housing, Ramstein and Landstuhl. ID card, shuttle card and permissions slips are required to ride the shuttle. Clubs at Landstuhl School Age Center

Did you know that Landstuhl School Age Center has several different clubs open to students, grades one to five? The different weekly clubs include cooking, sewing, robotics and film. Registration with Child, Youth and School Services is required. Enrollment fees are based on total family income. RMS take field trip to airfield Alyssa Maxon, Ramstein Middle School sixth-grade student, is shown how to hold a hawk by Gerhard Wagner, 86th Operations Support Squadron falconer, during a field trip with Johnette Scott’s science class May 3 at an airfield on Ramstein. In conjunction with the class’ unit focussing on the environment, the students learned how falcons and hawks protect aircraft and their crews. Wagner’s birds are one facet to keeping the airfield safe from unwanted birds and animals that could potentially damage an aircraft.

Kindermusik is a musical program that nurtures young children’s development in the areas of language, social, emotional and physical skills. SKIESUnlimited offers Kindermusik classes in three age categories: Cuddle and Bounce, ages 0 to 18 months; Wiggle and Grow, ages 18 months to 3 years; and Laugh and Learn, ages 3 to 5 years. Open to all branches of service.
