7th CSC Soldiers redeploy from Afghanistan by Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Chlosta and Staff Sgt. Michael J. Taylor 7th Civil Support Command/21st Theater Sustainment Command Public Affairs The first Army Reserve movement control team to deploy to Afghanistan from a location outside the U.S. redeployed from Tarin Kot, Afghanistan, Jan. 16. Nineteen Soldiers from the 793rd Movement Control Team, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, 7th Civil Support Command, were welcomed home by family and friends upon their return flight’s arrival from Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. The 793rd MCT arrived home after a nine-month deployment as part of the International Security Assistance Force that began on April 27, 2012. The unit coordinated for movement of more than 24,000 passengers by both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, in excess of 20 million pounds of cargo, in addition to checking in and out more than 4,000 trucks during their time at Tarin Kot Airfield in the Regional Command (South) area of operations. “We ran the aerial port for both the passenger and cargo yard, alongside the Australians every day. We literally worked hand in hand with them on every mission,” said Capt. Stephanie Mann, the 793rd MCT commander. “Without a doubt, it was a mission success. We were the only Army MCT running an aerial port by ourselves in all of Afghanistan, so we received high praises as the best MCT in Afghanistan.” “It’s kind of surreal just touching down after a long nine months but it’s great to be back,” Mann said.
