ADEMOLA ADEYOOLA

A graduate of Business Administration from the University of Lagos in the year 2014, I decided to pursue my passion in the creative field.

I learned Graphic design and later Art-direction for Advertising at 02Academy Lagos in 2017, and have served 5 years in the advertising industry, and this has shaped better how I add meaning to my art.

I wish to finally fulfil my life long dream of becoming a full time artist, and impact the world through my art.

Going to work with an empty keg would have been a laughable thought just weeks ago, but it's now a common sight in Nigeria's major city amidst the nationwide fuel scarcity and power failure crisis. With the 2023 elections fast approaching, this piece is a subtle reminder to Nigerians to choose wisely as their choice will determine the Nigerian reality for the next four years.

Nigerians used to be regarded as the happiest people on earth, but recent happenings have made this standing volatile. This piece shows a nigerian in her search for petrol, happy smileys in the background, and one in a waste bin to provoke the thought whether our happiness remains, or is sitting comfortably at the base of a bin right beside our hope, dreams and optimism.

ADEMOLAADEYOOLA,

This piece is inspired by a common joke that goes around during every fuel crisis period. Its common to hear "na who get fuel we go marry" you would only be considered for marriage or a relationship if you have gas. Once again "fuel" has become something precious anyone must have to be taken seriously.

This piece depicts Eyo (a popular masquerade and representative of the gods in Lagos) also in the struggle for power. We are quick to say God or the gods will help us whenever we face challenges rather than take action and save ourselves. But what then happens when the gods also find themselves facing the same challenge, how do they help us?

This piece is inspired by the drug abuse epidemic in Nigeria that has the youth trying to create a happy word for them selves by abusing drugs using the a virtual enviroment as a metaphor. In the end, our character has to look for petrol to power his adventure.

It is often said that when 2 elephants fight, the grass beneath suffers. We can only have peace and attract the beautiful things life has to offer when we let down our intolerance and aggression (depicted by the tigers skull). Only then can we experience to the fullest the joys of living.

In life, we are all faced with myriad of challenges on our paths to achieving our goals. Some give up, some are consumed, but there are some who stand, give their all and stay victorious, no matter the cost. Which of these are you?

Looking back on 2020 events till date, especially the period between out break of Covid-19, and the #endsars movement in Nigeria, the media was flooded with negative news. To maintain sanity, it was necessary to find a way to distract one’s self from the realities on ground. Music became my first choice of escape.
