Join your ADAWA peers and colleagues for fun and companionship. To help our members achieve that all-important worklife balance, ADAWA is launching its own social club. Organiser Dr Amanda Phoon Nguyen says the Executive team has always wanted ADA House to be a space for ADAWA members. “We are very good at using ADA House for events, CPD events and meetings, so it seemed like a natural extension for us to use ADA House for some social events as well,” she says. “It started off with yoga, which has been going on for almost a year now. We recently did a pottery event, which was very well received, so we are hoping to expand on that from around September, with monthly or bi-monthly social events.” Amanda says the ADAWA team is open to suggestions of the type of social events members would like to attend. “Yoga is an ongoing activity, but we might also try things like wine tasting, life drawing and acrylic painting classes,” she says. “We will probably redo the pottery class again as that was quite popular, and a few people have suggested cooking classes or foodrelated activities. In the future, we may have some kidfriendly events, or family-friendly events as well. Events will not always be at ADA House, but it’s great to have the space readily available to us. “If members like the idea of a social club, I hope they will support it, as these activities are always dependant on numbers,” Amanda adds. “Please try to come along.” All the finer details are yet to be confirmed but interested members should keep an eye on their ADAWA emails and the ADAWA Members’ Facebook Group.
