The site was chosen for it’ssustainable elements. Whilethefrontandrearelevationsarefacing west/east directions, the sun’s path comes across the site in a way that the solar panels on the north side of the roof take full advantage.
The site is also located in an area where no major developments occur. This allows the structure to breath and the landscaping to take full advantage of the open surrounding area.

In today’s ever changingclimate, water scarcity is a major threat. Everyday more and more fresh water is being polluted, so having a water retention system should be considered. The system works by collecting, filtering, and storing rain and runoff water. The water falls through the gravel located on the south side of the structure, into a filtration system before being delivered into a water storage tank.
When the water is in use in the home, water is pumped from this tank and carried by the plumbing to its destination. When the water is turned off, the water is then pumped back into the filtration system and finally back into the storage tank.
Another feature of this home is the green roof, located on the south side of the roof. The roof is equipped with a moss and garden so any rain waterthat falls upon the roof can be used for the garden. The benefitsofgrowing moss are:
