Over the past 15 years, ‘Cross All Borders’ has upheld the belief of ‘arts without borders’. Through its annual competition, it has remained dedicated to discovering and nurturing emerging artists with disabilities. The programme has witnessed participants using their uniquely personal artistic gifts to transcend physical and emotional limitations, demonstrating extraordinary creativity and artistic potential. During the pandemic, ‘Cross All Borders’ strengthened its support for arts education by launching the ‘Mentorship Scheme’ led by professional mentors assigned to award-winning artists. The scheme provides professional training and creative guidance to help participants improve their artistic skills and expressive abilities, inspiring them to move fearlessly along their artistic paths.

‘Cross All Borders 2025’ fosters industry connections in a new format, showcasing a collective of award-winning artists with disabilities. These artists, who engage in different disciplines of performing arts, share the stage with mainstream performers in a unique theatre event. As the artistic exchange ignites new creative sparks, it encourages artists with disabilities to step out of their comfort zones and explore the boundless possibilities of art. This year, the programme takes a step forward by presenting a large-scale stage performance. This marks both a significant opportunity and a challenge for artists with disabilities. Performing on a professional stage not only reflects an upgrade in production scale, but also propels the artists to refine their performance craft in order to deliver an outstanding show to a broader audience.
This programme is made possible thanks to the generous support from The Swire Group Charitable Trust, Lee Hysan Foundation, Hong Kong Arts Development Council, and other sponsors, and as well as all participating artists, mentors, adjudicators, and partners. It provides a marvellous platform for artists with disabilities to shine on stage. Due to the enthusiasm and skill of all involved, the first professional theatre production by ‘Cross All Borders’ has been brought to fruition. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us along the way—your involvement stands as a testament to our vision that ‘Arts are for Everyone’.
Looking ahead, Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong will continue to explore diverse paths and opportunities for development, striving to build broader platforms for artists with disabilities to realise their creative visions. Let us join hands with artists with disabilities and walk together to co-create a brilliant new chapter.

The charm of art and the magic of theatre lie in their ability to bring different lives together in a single story. This is a space where dreams intertwine with reality, where artists with disabilities and mainstream artists stand side by side to co-create a theatre production that transcends limits. From the initial scriptwriting and read-throughs to every rehearsal, the work is an exploration of the inner lives of the characters. Each performance is a gentle inquiry into the essence of human nature that guides us—amidst the interplay of light and shadow—to feel the pulse of life and the true meaning of art.
Over the years, Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong has discovered numerous talented artists with disabilities through the ‘Cross All Borders’
programme. This year, ‘Cross All Borders’ presents its first original theatre production, in which artists with disabilities break through their limits in a professional stage performance, demonstrating their boundless potential. The formative journeys of these artists reflect not only the challenges they have set for themselves and their perseverance, but also exemplify extraordinary courage and hope. As they harness the power of theatre to illuminate their inner worlds and artistic talents, they allow each audience member to experience how art builds bridges between hearts, transforming differences into harmonies that connect souls.
On the stage, each character tells a unique story. The meeting between artists with disabilities and mainstream performers sparks an extraordinary creative synergy, which is the essence of this theatre production. The power of theatre lies in its willingness to face the sharp edges of life—when we witness the vulnerability and struggles of the characters, we see reflections of ourselves and resonate profoundly.
Let us look forward to this work of marvellous vitality. May every moment on stage touch your heart, and may you share in this incredible artistic journey through both laughter and tears. We believe this performance is a visual and emotional feast not to be missed, and we warmly invite you to witness this moving experience with us.

We always try to conceal blemishes— like mud on a new pair of shoes or a splash of soy sauce blooming on a shirt collar.
Anxiously, you calculate the angles of others’ gazes: tucking your feet into the shadow of the chair, covering that telltale stain with a palm… almost holding your breath.
Dusk falls, and a friend quips about the mess you’ve been hiding: ‘This is you—your careless, lovely self.’ The wind lightens, and even the sunset smooths its wrinkles.

What is performance?
Is it a game with the audience? Is it an art form that imitates reality? Or is it a journey of self-discovery? I think everyone has a different answer to that question.
Perhaps performance is a kind of courage, an act of sharing, a willingness to bare oneself before others and, ultimately, to meet one’s true self deep within the story.

Perhaps performance is a way to warm people’s hearts through storytelling, so that everyone who steps into the theatre can find a sense of strength and companionship.
Perhaps performance is an unfolding of a dream. Every breath, every tear is a whisper of the soul. Behind every character is a heart longing to be seen and understood, just like yours and mine, as we strive to play our own roles in life.
I believe that a heartfelt performance is a momentary connection between souls. It is the kind of connection that allows us to illuminate one another in darkness.
I hope that within the story, you will glimpse what lights up your heart.
Thank you for being here and becoming part of our story.
