Dance Me A Story is a six-week program with each session developed around stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and

Gretel, and the Three Little Pigs. On Friday, July 27 at 2 p.m., the Marlborough Public Library will be hosting The Stupendous Mr. Magichead. This wild and wacky magic show combines physical comedy and fast-paced original trickery (ages 4-9). Don’t miss it! The Marlborough Public Library is home to thousands of books waiting to be read. Along with books, it provides movies, music, and games. There are also many study areas available and computers. It is located at 35 West Main Street and parking is in the back on Witherbee Street. Living History Weekend At Devens 100 years ago, in 1918, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were training at Camp Devens and other cantonments in the U.S. while more were fighting overseas in World War I. As part of its on-going World War I commemoration, the Fort Devens Museum is sponsoring a World War I Living History Weekend on July 28th and July 29th at the quadrangle behind 94 Jackson Road, Devens. Come explore four WWI encampments for an overall experience of The Great War: Allied Powers, Central Powers,

Red Cross/Salvation Army, and Civilians. There will be equipment and vehicles including two Model T ambulances, artillery, and civilian Model T’s. Uniformed re-enactors will display their gear and offer period military demonstrations. President Woodrow Wilson will be in attendance reviewing the troops! The hours for the weekend are: Saturday July 28th from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday July 29th from 10 AM to 3 PM. This event is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5/individual & $10/family. Additionally, guided tours of Devens, with a focus on WWI sites, will run

The film shows one way in which Americans, both men and women, became involved in World War I in Europe prior to America’s entry into that “Great War.” Seeing the Model T in action would also be a good introduction to what will be going on behind the Museum on 94 Jackson Road during the weekend following this program. That’s when the Museum plays host to Living History reenactors of World War

I. Men and women in WWI uniforms will be on hand to display and talk about collections of WWI military paraphernalia and equipment expected to include a vintage Model T ambulance. There will be light refreshments and the chance to talk with others interested in American and especially military history on July 21st with the same expectation at Living History Weekend, July 28-29, when refreshments will be “beefed up,” so to speak, by a lunch truck. Ed Klekowski, a University of Mass.-Amherst professor, compiled this documentary. It is based on his years of research in France and Belgium as well as

The museum is located on the 3rd floor of 94 Jackson Road, Devens and is wheelchair accessible. This program is free and open to the public but donations are appreciated. Please email

Summer Services And Other Activities At UCMH It’s summertime and the living is easy! The Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson (UCMH) is pleased to offer inspiration to spiritual soulseekers throughout the season. Everyone is welcome. Please see our schedule below! Sunday Service, July 15, 10:30am “We Go Entwined” with Rev. Stephen Shick, Minister Emeritus, UCMH In our 7th principle we “affirm and promote the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” Yet, we celebrate our individuality, some say we worship it. “Follow your passions,” we say. Be the person of this cause, this interest. While there is wisdom in knowing your heart’s song and focusing your

work, there is also a great danger that the larger picture of our interdependence will vanish. In worship on July 15 we will explore together the “intersectionality” of issues of race, class and the environment to gain new perspectives on how to do faith-based work for the common good. Rev. Stephen Shick is Minister Emeritus of the Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson. He has served our faith nationally as the founding Director of the UU Peace Network and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s U.S. Programs Department. As a parish minister he has served our congregations in Haverhill, MA, and Portland, ME. He is author of two Skinner House books, Be the Change and Consider the Lilies. Currently, through his Speaking by Heart program he teaches the art of speaking without notes and manuscript to religious leaders and

Fun By The Numbers Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!

Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

“Stuff A Cruiser” Food Drive For Sudbury Community Food Pantry Friends of the Sudbury Community Food Pantry including local Rotarians and other community volunteers will hold a food drive on Saturday, August 4th from 9 AM to 1 PM. This “Stuff a Cruiser” food drive will seek to fill a Sudbury police cruiser with enough non-perishable food to substantially replenish the Sudbury Food Pantry’s shelves. The event will be held at the Sudbury Farms store located at 439 Boston Post Road in Sudbury. The Sudbury Community Food Pantry finds that the stocking of its shelves is reduced during the summer when the Sudbury elementary school children’s food drives are inactive due to the school vacation. For this reason the Friends of the Sudbury Community Food Pantry are conducting their first summer food drive to address this summer void. Howard Kendall, the event organizer, says “our goal is to fill a police cruiser several times with donated food at this first time event, thereby substantially assisting the Sudbury

Community Food Pantry and the clients served”. The Sudbury Community Food Pantry services clients living in 61 different communities in Metro-West. The food pantry is staffed only by volunteers and 88% of cash donations received are used for purchasing food with the balance used maintaining the Food Pantry, food truck rental, purchasing food handling disposables as well as minimal administrative costs. Cash donations received during the “Stuff a Cruiser” Food Drive will be fully dedicated to the purchase of food and these overhead costs. For more information, contact Howard Kendall at howard.kendall@comcast.net
