Dress Code 2014-2015 Early Childhood and Intermediate Divisions All students must wear garments according to the dress code beginning the first day of school and must meet all the requirements as stated in this document. Dress code includes the following: short and long sleeved polo type shirts, fleece sweaters, fleece hoodies, polar vests. The only colors established for the different garments are NAVY BLUE, WHITE, and LIGHT PINK. It is not allowed to embroider the school logo in garments with designs and colors different from those stipulated in the Dress Code. Requirements: Polo t-shirts/Sweaters/Hoodies/Vests All students must wear polo t-shirts with the Academia Cotopaxi logo on the left side. If students chose to wear sweaters, vests, hoodies or jackets, these also must have the Academia Cotopaxi logo on them. Bottoms Most pants and skirts, including jeans, are permitted. They must be in good condition, without holes and not torn or frayed. “Short-shorts”, mini-skirts, pajama bottoms, and the like are not appropriate for school. For safety reasons, we suggest that girls not wear dresses or long skirts. Concert Attire All students who are performing will be expected to wear a white button-down shirt or blouse and black pants or skirts and dress shoes (not sneakers) for band or orchestra concerts. School Trips  When traveling on school trips and/or representing the school, students are expected to wear only Academia Cotopaxi clothing. The other -general dress code expectations- also apply.  Given specific authorization from the Principals, to be included in the Field Trip Permission Form, students may be asked to dress more informally/formally than usual, depending on the event.  Students who do not meet expectations will not be permitted to go on the trip. Physical Education Students in Grades 6-8 must change for Physical Education classes, with the exception of health classes, when normal dress code applies. Students should wear clothing appropriate for sports and other physical activities. The required dress code for PE is:  T-shirts.  Sneakers.  Athletic shorts or training/sweat pants.  Sweat shirts or training jackets may be worn over the tee shirts (but not in place of them).  Jeans, cargo pants, cargo shorts, and other non-athletic clothing may not be worn for PE.  Personal belongings such as cell phones, i-pods, jewelry, watches and other types of fashion accessories should be removed and placed in their personal lockers/cubbies before coming to PE class.  Students in grades PK-5 are not required to change into PE clothes, yet should come to school wearing athletic pants/sweat pants and sneakers with non-making soles. General Dress Code Expectations:  Clothing will be clean and in good condition, without holes or frayed edges.  Undergarments are not to show, including but not limited to bra straps and boxers and other garments.  Shirts must be tucked in or overlap with pants or skirts at all times, whether the student is standing or sitting down. Bare midriffs are not acceptable.


 

Clothing may not be excessively baggy, short or tight. Language or pictures on clothing condoning or explicitly or implicitly advertising alcohol, drugs, racism, sex, tobacco or foul language are not permitted. This includes, team jerseys with advertisements for beer companies. Clothing which is disruptive to the educational process is prohibited. In cases of disagreement, the principal’s decision will be final. Clothing which may be offence in any way, provocative, revealing, offensive, vulgar or obscene is prohibited. In case of any disagreement, of the Rector's decision will be final. Hats may only be worn outdoors, not indoors (e.g. classrooms, auditorium, library, etc). For safety reasons, open-toed or strapless shoes are not allowed (flip flops, sandals, etc). Sports at lunch: Students, who practice any sport during lunch time, may use a sport shirt while playing, once lunch time has finished, students must comply with the dress code.

Garments Provider: Academia Cotopaxi recommends SZIMON STORE as the provider for the garments at the following address: “El nd Jardin” Shopping Mall, 2 floor (in front of Marathon). They will be available during mall hours. The process for purchasing garments from SZIMON and points of sale:  Families who pre-ordered their uniforms at the SZIMON store between May 19 to June 27, 2014. These orders will be available for pick up August 22, 2014 in SZIMON store. Also, families should pre-order their uniforms between August 1 to August 31, 2014 and these last orders will be available for pick them up from September 12, 2014.  SZIMON will receive all orders and provide invoices for each purchase made. Payments can be made by cash, check or credit card. They will also have samples of the garments for families to try on their children and can also embroider your child's full name on the garments purchased. Updated August, 2014
