Pre-Arrival Final Reminders

Well it’s finally here. Where did the summer go?! We’re less than one week away from OP arrivals, and in another two weeks, we’ll be welcoming our FLI and international first-year F-1 students to campus. Thanks for following along with us this summer and we hope that you’ve enjoyed these summer transition guides. They were a labor of love so we really hope you read them! If this is the first volume you’re seeing, please make sure to go back and read through Vol. 1 and Vol. 2!

A few final reminders before you arrive on campus:

▶ Please give the AB Summer FAQ one more read through — trust us, a lot of your questions can still be answered there!

▶ If you are one of the very few who still has not signed and uploaded the Pre-O Participant Agreement and Media Release Form (or discussed why not with us!), then you will be unable to move-in and participate in Pre-Orientation until you do so. Therefore, please do this now.

▶ Attn International F-1 first-years!! Please make sure to complete the Aug 21 Arrival Information Form that you received via email!

▶ The dorm kit grab bags are a randomized selection of refurbished and gently used items. While they have been cleaned, like any linens, we strongly recommend that you wash them again once in your possession. Therefore, you may want to pack a set of sheets and a towel for your first night or two. We also unfortunately ran out of a few items, so in the event that you receive a grab bag that looks a little different, we’ve tried to supplement it with another item. These dorm kits are free of charge and entirely optional for you to take, although please note that commuter students will not be given a bag.

▶ Come to campus with an open mind and heart! This will be an experience like no other, and you’ll never get it back. You may joyously meet your new best friends during Pre-O and/or NSOP, or you may find your people a little later on — both are great and all are new experiences, so be kind to yourself and try not to compare yourself too much to others. We cannot wait to meet each and every one of you in the coming weeks!

▶ Before we sign off, we’d like to leave you with a favorite quote and some food for thought as you enter this next season of life.

“A mind that is stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions. Experience is the key to unlocking the potential of your mind. Embrace the unknown, seek new perspectives, and challenge yourself to grow. Once you’ve tasted the thrill of a stretched mind, there’s no going back to a life of stagnation and sameness.”

See you soon!

P.S. To those that applied for our inaugural FAB cohort — yay! We’ll be reviewing applications and doing selection throughout Pre-O. You can expect to hear back from us by the first week of classes.
