Pastor Danyelle Scroggins: The Celebration Wedding

What are the chances that you would be having a wedding and all of a sudden Jesus shows up? Now, I really want you to think about what I am asking you. What if at the very place you pledged to love, cherish, and honor someone through sickness and health until death do you part, Jesus is in the room?

As I pondered over the thought myself, I realized that this may be the very reason that I have been married twenty-two years. Jesus was in attendance and called by us. I used the word called because if you study the book of John, you’ll find that both Jesus and His disciples were called to the marriage.

I have a full understanding of this word called because it is the justification of my surrender. However, I recognize that there is a distinct difference in being called to versus called for something. Stick with me, I am definitely going someplace with this.

Called to is the act of being summoned to fulfill an invitation or the request of your presence. Yet, called for marks a summons where an act, a need for fulfillment, or a need for a service is present. In simple terms: you can call me to something which only requires my presence but if you call me for something, it requires me to act.
