‘Barfi’ set for Turkey release, Ranbir excited

Lakshmi Rai in a Vasantha Balan film? Lakshmi Rai might get a role in Vasantha Balan’s next film if things fall into place. But, it isn’t confirmed yet as there are rumors that Lakshmi might settle for marital bliss soon. It is also not sure if this role is for Vasantha Balan’s film with Siddharth, titled “Kaaviya Thalaivan,” or for another film in the pipeline. With so much uncertainty surrounding this matter, we can only that things become clear in the coming days, with an official clarification from the people who matter. Lakshmi Rai was last seen in “Onbadhula Guru” and she is waiting for a good script to come her way.

Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer “Barfi!” is all set to be released in Turkey. Said to be the first Indian movie to get a mainstream release in the country, it will hit close to 40 screens. "Turkey is a place where my grandfather (Raj Kapoor) has a great following even today. To see my film being released in the same country is a huge compliment. I am very excited about this," said Ranbir, who bagged best actor trophies at Filmfare, Screen, Zee Cine, Apsara Producer's Guild awards for playing Barfi. The Anurag Basu directed film won critical acclaim too in the form of top honours at all key awards in the country.

Poonam Bajwa making a re-entry Poonam Bajwa, that bubbly actress, who was seen in Tamil movies like “Thenavattu,” “Kacheri Aarambam,” “Seval” and “Drohi,” will be making a re-entry with a Tamil-Telugu bilingual which also features the likes of Trisha and Remya Nambeesan. Poonam will be seen as a happening model in this movie and her role gives her a lot of scope for a stylish performance. Poonam is happy to make a comeback through such a role and is hopeful that another facet of her skills would be showcased through this film.

‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ being remade in English Time is changing and it’s changing fast. A new era has arrived to move away from the year-old tradition to remake English films into Hindi. Now it’s time for the Hindi film industry to inspire the English movies and Hindi classic “Amar Akbar Anthony” is going to create the new benchmark. The task has been taken up by an ardent fan of the film, British Indian actor Atul Malhotra, who has planned to remake his favourite film into English. Reportedly the English version will also get a new title, Amar Akbar Tony and a new theme. While the original film was based on Hindu, Muslim and Christian angle, a Sikh protagonist will replace the Hindu in the English version.

Pran presented with Phalke Award

India’s information and broadcast minister Manish Tiwari presented the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Pran at the latter’s residence on Friday. Pran was unable to make it to Delhi to receive the award and hence Tiwari flew down to Mumbai to honour him with the same. Addressing reporters after presenting the thespian with the prestigious award, Tiwari said, “When an actor of Pran’s caliber is awarded with the Dadasaheb Phalke, the nobility and the significance of the award only multiplies manifold.”

DDLJ voted favourite film of past 100 years Cinema lovers have voted “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (DDLJ) as their most favourite feature film from the past 100 years of Indian cinema in a poll conducted by Sanona, the UK's largest online Indian movie streaming service. The romantic comedy, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles, won 47 per cent of the votes in the online poll conducted to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Indian film industry. The movie was among the first Indian films to be produced with the large and rich South Asian diaspora in the West as its target audience.

Kareena injured on the sets of 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor, who is known for getting into the skin of the character she portrays, got injured herself on the sets of “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.” She was supposed to walk on a rope and she insisted on doing it by herself. "As she was carefully treading to maintain balance, her feet got entangled by the thick jute. The bruise seemed like a burn scar. On top of that, the hot weather wasn't helping her case. But she made sure the scene was completed without much delay," added a source.
