Challenging the prototype of village clubhouses, the design of Horizon East’s community space centers on the idea of social pockets. With its multiple function rooms, recreational areas and open gardens, The Clubhouse serves as the center of village activities but presented in a layered program.

At the main entrance, the lobby welcomes guests and residents alike to an array of possible engagements, while in itself offering an ambience for relaxation. Adjacent to this space are the gym, the store and the clinic. The second point of access to the clubhouse caters more towards the families in the village. The lap pool and deck is observed as the highlight at this end. The space is complemented by a tea house, nestled behind a vertical garden. To create a segregation in public and private activity, the function halls were stacked above these communal areas at the second floor. While intentioned as separate spaces, the option for the two halls to bleed into each other is presented in a shared veranda.

The contrasts in form create a visual separation in program between public and private activites in a straight forward participation.
