Conducted as a furniture and product design crash course with notable local designers and makers as guest lecturers, the Product 101 online course held by Ar. Vanessa Gaston culminated in an online exhibit of proposed products. The Quarantine Shelf was considered the notable crowd favorite and prototype-ready design.

Conceived during the last lockdown before the

COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, the concept behind the shelf was both a metaphor and a practical solution to address the hobbies accumulated from the pandemic downtime.

Marrying design attributes from traditional rattan dividers and industrial gravity bike racks, the Quarantine Shelf becomes a functional household catch-all with local furniture allure.

Final submission of concept boards — a series of boards that explains concepts clearly and concisely.

Sketches and form studies for the shelf — finding a balance between functionality and innovation.
