Location

ď Ž

The location of the music video for the song is in a remote forest giving the impression that the artist likes nature and enjoys forests, this is shown through the fact that the artist is barefoot as he travels through the forest showing his connection to nature. This relates to the genre of the music as the style of music is also very country like.

Mid shots and close ups

ď Ž

There are a fair amount of mid shots in this music video, these are to show the viewer the facial expressions of the actors and the artist in the music video but also allow us to partially see what they are doing. There are also several close ups which have a specific role in the music video is to show us the facial expressions of key individuals in the music video.

Construction of representation/narrative

ď Ž

The artist is represented as a very down to earth person who enjoys having fun this is shown through the videos narrative as the sole reason for the video is to make this slide that they slide down it and the reason they want to build it is to have fun.

Effects

ď Ž

The effects used in this music video are very basic but effective. By using a Polaroid vintage instagram-like effect, not only does it appeal to the target audience but it makes the amazing shots of the forest look even better, bringing out the full potential of these amazing shots.

The main influence we got from this music video was the location of the music video which is the forest and the amazing shots filmed, we hope to replicate a similar appearance when making our music video. The colour palette and the effects used on the video

Coldplay-Paradise

Location

ď Ž

This video has many different locations for example the zoo the artist then escapes the zoo dressed as an elephant and finds himself on the underground in London. He then finds himself riding down a hill and then jumps to him at an airport boarding a flight to America, its ends at the end of the video with him riding a unicycle down a long road in the middle of the desert. There are also elements of a live performance at the end where the band are wearing elephants heads and hands.

Props

ď Ž

The props used in this music video are Animal costumes, a bike, cardboard with the lyrics on them to give the impression that the elephant is begging for money on the underground and a tricycle. By using these the band are represented as very efficient as most of the props are cheap but at the same time very quirky and cheery.

Shot types

The music video is predominantly made up of midshots and long shots to show what happening around the elephant this is used to show how the actor under the elephant costume is feeling as we wouldn’t know otherwise as we cant see his face. But can also helps us see the reactions of bystanders or people working at or riding (train) the things he’s on.

Effects

ď Ž

Not many fancy effects are used in this video there is a vintage effect added but it is hardly noticeable, and the colour correction has been used to make the colours seem more vibrant and appeal to the target audience.

How this has influenced our ideas

ď Ž

The specific things that have influenced our ideas are the colour scheme of the video and the idea of having actors or the performer/artist wearing animal costumes and are considering using them in our idea for the

Maverick Sabre - I Need

Locations

For this video they have used a number of locations such as cars, buses, carparks, cafés, bedrooms…. And he’s always alone apart from in the car where he’s in the passenger seat, even so we don’t see the driver possibly suggesting that that person isn't important in his life. This gives the audience the impression that the artist likes to be alone.

Effects

ď Ž

The effects used in this music video are very retro and polaroid-like and should therefore appeal to the target audience. By adding these effects it also makes the shots in the video a lot more interesting and appealing and makes you want to watch on.

Shots

ď Ž

This music video has a variety of shots for example an extreme close up was used to show something hanging from the rear view mirror showing the importance of this item. Also close ups were used to show the expressions on the face of the artist as he was singing along to the song.

Construction of representation/narrative

ď Ž

The artist is represented as a character who is troubled by his past, he thinks a lot about his past And it seems as though sometimes it catches up with him. He seems to enjoy being alone in his own company wherever he goes.

How this has influenced our ideas

ď Ž

This video is a perfect match to what me and my partner are aiming for. Maverick Sabre video for I Need has an scenery like element to his shots which just make the storyline ordinary everyday life, which is what we aiming for. Also the effects used in this video are very inspiring.
