Welcome! This is a perfect moment to stop, look back, and reflect on everything we have accomplished together over the past 10 years. The foundation was laid for our first residential homes, Las Terrazas of Abama, in 2011, and since then we have sold all 140 apartments and opened the five-star Las Terrazas de Abama Suites. Meanwhile, the rest of our luxury community has expanded in parallel: the gorgeous, prizewinning Bellevue residences; the magnificent Custom Villas bordering our golf course; the comfortable Las Casas del Lago; the recently launched Los Jardines de Abama and its hotel; the exuberant Las Villas del Tenis; the lovely Las Atalayas; and the iconic new La Plaza. This incredible growth would never have been possible without the unconditional support of our more than 300 residents, who believed in and bet on this marvellous project from the first day. Abama is now a consolidated destination that has proved itself capable of weathering any storm and emerging stronger than before. I also want to take this opportunity to thank one group in particular, whose artistry and mastery of craft have made Abama such a shining example of good taste, elegance, and sustainability: our architects. They have created the DNA of our resort and given Abama the unique personality that sets it apart from other destinations. Lastly, thanks too to the Abama staff that have been here through thick and thin, and gone far beyond the call of duty to help our residents and the citizens of the island during complicated times. Everyone has contributed to the development of our great Abama family, and without you it never would have been possible. Here’s to maintaining this excitement and energy over the next ten years. The best is yet to come!
Este es un momento perfecto para detenernos, mirar atrás y reflexionar sobre todo lo que hemos logrado juntos durante los últimos 10 años. Desde 2011, cuando sentamos las bases para la construcción de nuestras primeras viviendas residenciales, Las Terrazas de Abama, hemos vendido los 140 apartamentos y hemos abierto Las Terrazas de Abama Suites, un extraordinario hotel de cinco estrellas. bama Solidaria was established in 2020 to channel our community fundraising and support charity initiatives on Tenerife. What began during the lockdown as a way to help Guía de Isora’s most vulnerable families has expanded in 2021 under the planning of the Abama Green Team to include a number of other important causes. We have been overwhelmed by the generous donations of our owners and friends of the resort, and we’re happy to say that other companies on the island have joined in as well. You can read more about Abama Solidaria on the Sustainability page on our website, and learn how to contribute to our current drives.

THE ABAMA GREEN TEAM The Abama Green Team is composed of Abama directors and staff who have volunteered to help set the resort’s sustainability agenda. Each year they set goals for the various divisions of Abama and, in concert with the local government, choose social sustainability projects to support through Abama Solidaria.
LA PALMA The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on our sister island of La Palma has left many buildings destroyed and many people displaced. The Canary Islands are fortunate to have experienced and efficient teams in place for recovery, and Abama has donated €2,000 to relief efforts and collected additional funds from contributions to the Abama Solidaria account.
EL ABAMA GREEN TEAM El Abama Green Team está compuesto por directivas y empleados que, de manera voluntaria, dedican parte de su tiempo a establecer la agenda de sostenibilidad del resort. Cada año fijan objetivos para las distintas divisiones de Abama y se ponen de acuerdo con el gobierno local para elegir proyectos sociales que se respaldan a través de Abama Solidaria.
LA PALMA Este año nuestra isla hermana La Palma ha sufrido por la destrucción de muchos edificios y personas desplazadas debido a la erupción del volcán Cumbre Vieja. Afortunadamente, las Islas Canarias cuentan con equipos experimentados y eficientes para los trabajos de recuperación, y Abama ha querido contribuir a estos esfuerzos con la donación de 2.000 euros, además de fondos adicionales provenientes de las contribuciones a la cuenta de Abama Solidaria.

OCLOVE In December of 2020 we began working with local jewelry maker OClove to create limited-edition necklaces inspired by the Abama beach. 50% of the profits from sales go to the Abama Solidaria account. We’re delighted to collaborate with them again this season, this time with bracelets that are beautiful and contribute to great causes. Available online at OClove and in the Gourmet Shop at the Las Terrazas de Abama Suites!
ÁMATE TENERIFE One major part of fundraising this year has been for Ámate Tenerife, a wonderful organization that supports people with breast cancer and their families. Ámate stands shoulder-to-shoulder with patients, helping them with everything the doctors can’t, during and after treatment. Their program on Tenerife has been so successful that the governments of other islands have asked them to set up branches in more locations. You can read more about them on our website. Ámate acompaña a las pacientes y les ayuda en todo lo que los médicos no pueden hacer durante y después del tratamiento. Through Abama Solidaria, we have had the great fortune to work with Cathaysa Vargas at several points over the past year. She is the Social Wellness Minister of Guía de Isora and has an ambitious set of objectives for her department to support the local community. Bringing her passion and tenacity to every project, Ms. Vargas has deeply impressed us with her ability to address the needs of the population and quickly find solutions.
El año pasado, a través de Abama Solidaria tuvimos la gran suerte de conocer y trabajar con Cathaysa Vargas. Concejala de Bienestar Social en el Ayuntamiento de Guía de Isora, Vargas lidera un ambicioso plan de objetivos para apoyar a la comunidad local. Gracias a la pasión y tenacidad que aporta a cada proyecto, nos ha impresionado profundamente su capacidad para atender las necesidades de la población y su agilidad para encontrar soluciones.
In a year marked by the pandemic, which have been the most urgent needs of the population of Guía de Isora?
En un año marcado por la pandemia ¿cuáles han sido las necesidades más urgentes para la población de Guía de Isora?
As a first step, we centered all our efforts on making ourselves available to the public to understand what their situation was. It was our responsibility to respond to their needs because the local administration, in this case the municipal government, was the only administrative body that never closed during the first period of the State of Emergency. We felt it was our task to alleviate the uncertainty, the fear, and the not knowing what to do. What did the municipal government’s response consist of this year? Which social programs have been the most important? The Department of Social Welfare has always run a number of different projects jointly to support the wellbeing of our citizens. Last year we tripled the budget designated to social emergency funds and we immediately hired an additional 4 social workers, 3 aides for home care, and a psychologist and physiotherapist to address the needs of the population and respond immediately to them and at their home. We developed a project to optimize the personal and social competencies of our most vulnerable citizens and another project for the older citizens who were alone. This latter project, called “Rebereque”, was designed to alleviate feelings of solitude and loneliness and to foment participation in the community, giving these older people a permanent place in the social sphere. What were the Social Welfare Department’s priorities for 2021, and how have you achieved your objectives? It has been a complicated year in terms of social needs. We rearranged many of our government budgets to make social areas even more of a priority. Our ultimate objective was to keep working closely with our citizens and the business sector to guarantee that Guía de Isora maintains its level of quality as a destination.
El primer paso emprendido fue centrar todos nuestros esfuerzos en entender cuál era la situación particular de los ciudadanos y para conseguirlo, nos pusimos a su disposición. Era nuestra responsabilidad dar respuesta a sus necesidades porque la administración local, en este caso el gobierno municipal, fue el único organismo administrativo que nunca cerró durante el primer periodo del estado de alarma. Sentimos que nuestra tarea era aliviar la incertidumbre y el miedo a no saber qué hacer. ¿En qué ha consistido la respuesta del gobierno municipal este año? ¿Cuáles han sido los programas sociales más importantes? El Departamento de Bienestar Social siempre ha llevado a cabo diferentes proyectos de forma conjunta para apoyar el bienestar de nuestros ciudadanos. El año pasado triplicamos el presupuesto destinado a los fondos de emergencia social y contratamos inmediatamente a cuatro trabajadores sociales más, tres auxiliares de atención domiciliaria, un psicólogo y un fisioterapeuta para atender inmediatamente las necesidades de la comunidad, tanto a través de las entidades como en sus domicilios. Desarrollamos un proyecto para optimizar las competencias personales y sociales de nuestros ciudadanos más vulnerables y otro para las personas mayores que se encontraban solas. Este último proyecto, llamado "Rebereque", se diseñó para aliviar los sentimientos de soledad e incomunicación y para fomentar su participación en la comunidad dándoles un espacio permanente en la esfera social. ¿Cuáles eran las prioridades del Departamento de Bienestar Social para 2021 y cómo ha logrado sus objetivos? Ha sido un año complicado en cuanto a necesidades sociales, así que hemos reordenado parte de los presupuestos del gobierno para que las áreas sociales sean aún más prioritarias. Nuestro objetivo final es seguir trabajando estrechamente con nuestros ciudadanos y el sector empresarial para garantizar que Guía de Isora mantenga su nivel de calidad como destino.

The largest project in the Canary Islands El proyecto más grande de las Islas Canarias 2020 was a year full of challenges, but Abama worked hard to uphold our commitments to our owners and the island, keeping our development on track. We’re proud to say that construction never ceased during the early days of the pandemic, despite working under strict safety protocols to protect our workers, staff, and residents. Our delivery schedule has not changed.
Lleno de desafíos, 2020 fue un año en el que Abama trabajó duro para mantener el compromiso adquirido con sus propietarios y con la isla. Nos enorgullece decir que la construcción no cesó durante los primeros días de la pandemia y que las obras se realizaron bajo estrictos protocolos de seguridad para proteger a nuestro personal y residentes. Nuestro calendario de entregas no ha cambiado.
Abama is currently the largest development in the Canary Islands. Short-term investment in the resort stands at over €500 million, and has generated more than 300 direct jobs. We have 5 different communities under construction, as well as a commercial and social center, each involving different architectural and engineering teams. The result is a landscape that is transforming before our very eyes, and a project whose economic importance to the island is significant.
Actualmente, Abama es el desarrollo inmobiliario más grande de las Islas Canarias. La inversión a corto plazo en el complejo asciende a más de 500 millones de euros y se han creado más de 300 puestos de trabajo directos. Tenemos 5 comunidades residenciales diferentes y un centro comercial en construcción, y en cada obra participan diferentes equipos de arquitectura e ingeniería. El resultado es un paisaje que se transforma ante nuestros ojos, y un proyecto económico de gran envergadura para la isla de Tenerife.
After a year significantly hampered by travel restrictions and other uncertainties, we’re happy to say that real estate sales at Abama in 2021 have already surpassed yearly sales in 2015-2018 and are on track to match sales in 2019.

LOS JARDINES DE ABAMA Betting everything on form and eliminating the superfluous, architectural minimalism has demonstrated over the past century that it is well equipped to survive the passing of time and trends. With its capacity to integrate with the environment, blend with classic styles, and demonstrate character through the forceful personality of its lines, this style has become one of the conceptual keys to residential architecture in our Tenerife community. With Los Jardines de Abama, Tenerife studio Coderch Urbanismo y Arquitectura offers a completely different architectural proposal than their last project at Abama, Las Terrazas. These new apartments lean towards modern minimalism and refined forms and, additionally, offer an investment component. Located at the heart of the resort just off our Dave Thomas golf course, the first-line units of these luxury apartments offer spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean. Each of the 48 apartments of 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms varies between 83 and 200 m2, and all units boast large windows that let the open-plan environment communicate freely with the spacious terraces. Whether a ground-level garden apartment or a higherlevel duplex, each Los Jardines apartment has built-in wardrobes, suite-style bedrooms, a parking space and a private storage room. Con Los Jardines de Abama, el estudio tinerfeño Coderch Urbanismo y Arquitectura ofrece una propuesta arquitectónica completamente diferente a su último proyecto en Abama, Las Terrazas. Coderch URBANISMO Y ARQUITECTUR A
A family affair for the three principal architects of this firm for almost 20 years, Coderch has a range of projects under their belt in the Canary Islands that include not only residential architecture but also public works projects and urban planning and design.
Estudio con una larga tradición familiar desde hace casi 20 años, Coderch Urbanismo y Arquitectura tiene en su haber una serie de proyectos en las Islas Canarias que incluyen no sólo vivienda residencial, sino también obras públicas, planificación y diseño urbano.
Their work on the beaches of La Jaquita earned them the Agustín de Betancourt Prize for the best Civil Engineering Project for 2010-2013, as well as a finalist spot for the Tenerife-Gomera-Hierro COAC Architecture Prize for the 2008-2017 period. And for their design of the Urban Park of Las Torres de Taco in La Laguna, they were named a finalist for the XIII Architecture Prize of the Canary Islands, 2006-2007.
El trabajo de sus tres principales arquitectos en las piscinas naturales de La Jaquita les valió el Premio Agustín de Betancourt al mejor Proyecto de Ingeniería Civil durante el periodo 2010-2013, así como una plaza de finalistas en el Premio de Arquitectura COAC Tenerife-Gomera-Hierro 2008-2017. Here at Abama, they brought the plans for Las Terrazas to life. They bridged existing and new concepts to create a calming, grounded 140-apartment community where indoor and outdoor space meld together seamlessly. More recently, they were entrusted with the Los Jardines de Abama project. Currently under construction, with the first units already delivered, this new community will ultimately consist of 160 apartments completely adapted to the natural topography. Local natural materials bring out the essence of Tenerife and contrast beautifully with the sleek modern design of these residences. Coderch designed Los Jardines to reference the white exteriors of Las Terrazas, but demonstrate their versatility by reflecting the design through a different stylistic prism.

Aquí en Abama han dado vida a Las Terrazas, una tranquila comunidad de 140 apartamentos en cuya estructura se han fusionado conceptos clásicos con nuevas tendencias para crear espacios interiores y exteriores integrados a la perfección. Hace poco el resort confió en el estudio para el proyecto de Los Jardines de Abama. Actualmente en construcción, con las primeras unidades ya entregadas, este nuevo conjunto residencial consta de 160 apartamentos adaptados a la topografía natural escalonada. Los materiales naturales locales resaltan la esencia de Tenerife y contrastan con el elegante diseño moderno de cada residencia. Coderch diseñó Los Jardines tomando como referencia los exteriores blancos de Las Terrazas y demostrando su versatilidad al proponer un diseño propio con un prisma estilístico diferente.

Eustaquio Martínez & Virgilio Gutiérrez A powerhouse team of two independent architects, Virgilio Gutiérrez Herreros and Eustaquio Martínez García have collaborated more than once at Abama to create singular designs.
El potente equipo compuesto por dos arquitectos independientes, Virgilio Gutiérrez Herreros y Eustaquio Martínez García, ha dejado su impronta en Abama más de una vez con diseños singulares.
Separately, they have both received numerous awards including three first prizes for public works including public plazas on Tenerife and the new Tenerife Norte; work selected by the Museum of Modern Art to represent new architecture in Spain; and an honorable mention in the 2002-2003 edition of the Regional Manuel de Oraá and Arcocha Architecture Prize (Eustaquio Martínez). Virgilio Gutiérrez has received multiple mentions in various editions of the Manuel de Oraá Prize, as well as the prize itself in the 10th edition in 2002. Casa Barrera, the work for which he won the prize, was put forth as one of the seven buildings proposed as Spain’s entry for the EU’s Contemporary Architecture Prize - Mies van der Rohe - in 2003.

Together, the two architects created Abama’s iconic Bellevue villas, a tribute to Mid-century Modern architecture. For their successful efforts, they were awarded the Manuel de Oraá y Arcocha Architecture Prize for the Best New Build Homes of the Decade from the Association of Architects of Tenerife, La Gomera, and El Hierro. The Tenerife Association of Architects has also just honored them with a second-place award in their Architecture Prizes for 2018-2020 for one of the Abama Custom Villas designed for a private owner. Their most recent creation for Abama, Las Villas del Tenis, is under construction, with the first units already delivered.

LAS ATALAYAS Corona-Amaral Arquitectos have lent their hand to Las Atalayas, 10 independent luxury villas whose location offers impressive panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean. From their aerie at the top of the resort, the homes that comprise this residential community have privileged views of the island of La Gomera as well. Large windows and a pool terrace on each property provide excellent light and space to relax while ensuring privacy and comfort, and the chimneys indoors make for a cosy winter. The natural incline of the land has been leveraged to the maximum to employ simple lines of exquisite elegance. Suites-only bedrooms, private storage facilities, an underground garage, swimming pools and private gardens lend luxurious touches to the residences. Each villa parcel is between 356-445 sqm, and the houses’ surface areas range from 161-215 sqm. This firm, which worked together with Eustaquio Martínez on the Tenerife North project, is no stranger to stunning design. They have conceived and executed residential, commercial, hotel, and public projects all over the island. Like their colleagues, they have also been amply recognized for their work, receiving First Prize in the Competition for the Development Plan for the University and Technology Pole in Agadir, Morocco; they were selected for the II Biennial of Spanish Architecture for their Jet Foil Maritime Station building; First Prize in the Ideas Contest for a south Tenerife train station in Los Cristianos; and the European Community Prize for the best Public Work 1999/2000 for the Urban Plan for Santa Cruz de Tenerife, among other honors. The studio is involved in strategic planning, urban regeneration, and landscaping as well, and holds an ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification, the ISO Environmental Management System Certification since 2009 and EFITECNIC, certified by the Construction Institute of Castilla León (ICCL). At Abama, they are currently responsible for the design and execution of the Las Atalayas villas, an exclusive collection of 10 luxury homes.

ach year we ask our public relations teams in several European countries for their impressions of the housing market over the past year, as well as projections for the next. Their answers are always interesting. Have a read!
SPAIN Pent-up demand due to the uncertainties of 2020 has benefitted sales in the luxury market in 2021. With more buyers seeking ample indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as daily contact with nature, the pool of Spanish buyers, in particular, has expanded this year. Remote work continues to be a fact of daily life for many. The need for additional space to carry out this activity, as well as reliable high speed Internet connections, is a factor when seeking a second home outside the city. In Spain, which continues to receive demand from foreign buyers thanks to its pleasant climate, the housing supply is limited and a slight rise in prices is beginning to be noted. Brokers project that this increase will oscillate between 3 and 5% in 2022, throughout the luxury market in the country.

ESPAÑA La incertidumbre de 2020 se reflejó en una baja demanda que luego repercutió en un aumento de la ventas en el mercado del lujo durante 2021. Con más compradores que buscan amplios espacios interiores y exteriores, así como el contacto diario con la naturaleza, el grupo de compradores españoles, en particular, se ha ampliado este año. El teletrabajo a distancia se ha instalado en muchos hogares así que la necesidad de espacio adicional para realizar esta actividad y una conexión confiable a Internet de alta velocidad, son factores de peso a la hora de buscar una segunda vivienda fuera del país. En España, que sigue recibiendo demanda de compradores extranjeros gracias a su clima agradable, la oferta de vivienda es limitada y se empieza a notar una ligera subida de precios. Los agentes inmobiliarios proyectan que este incremento oscilará entre el 3 y el 5% en 2022, en todo el mercado de lujo del país.

BELGIUM 2021 was a peak year for real estate purchases by Belgians, with 16% more real estate properties sold in Belgium in the first 9 months of 2021 compared with the same period in 2019. During the pandemic, interest also grew for real estate on the coast in the Netherlands and in the Belgian Ardennes. Belgians warmed to buying real estate abroad during the pandemic by means of virtual appointments and guided tours. Post April 2021, there was a rush of Belgian brokers and potential buyers to mostly Spanish destinations, with Spain, France, and the Netherlands comprising the top three countries for Belgians purchasing foreign property. A TV program, “Huizenjagers Buitenland”, featured Belgian real estate agents showing interested Belgian buyers around various Mediterranean destinations and Tenerife, confirming that public interest is very high, despite price increases in the international housing market.
GERMANY Changes in German banks’ policies regarding savings and interest have increased demand for real estate purchases, as many Germans now have to pay their banks to keep money in their accounts. Real estate investment, particularly if it comes with a rental option for increased ROI, is becoming more attractive. Weather continues to be a crucial factor in where Germans look for homes abroad, as well as – particularly among younger buyers – nearby sport facilities. Real estate within resorts continues to be seen as a safe investment because resorts are protected communities that offer maintenance and other services to owners who are away. Proximity to the coast and sea views remain important as well. And Wellness facilities and private pools that can be enjoyed year-round are a differential factor in southern European destinations.
BÉLGICA 2021 fue significativo para la compra de bienes raíces por parte de los belgas, con un 16% más de propiedades vendidas en el país durante los primeros 9 meses del año en comparación con el mismo período en 2019. Durante la pandemia también creció el interés por los bienes raíces en la costa de los Países Bajos y las Ardenas belgas, aunque también hubo interés por otros destinos en el extranjero, mediante citas virtuales y visitas guiadas. Después de abril de 2021 se vivió una avalancha de inmobiliarias belgas y compradores potenciales distribuidos por diferentes puntos de Francia, Países Bajos y España, siendo este último país uno de los preferidos. El programa de televisión, “Huizenjagers Buitenland” invitó a varios agentes inmobiliarios locales que mostraban a compradores belgas interesados en varios destinos del Mediterráneo y Tenerife, confirmando que el interés general es muy alto, a pesar de los aumentos de precios en el mercado inmobiliario internacional.
ALEMANIA Los cambios en las políticas de los bancos alemanes respecto a los ahorros y los intereses han potenciado la demanda de bienes raíces para la compra, ya que muchos ciudadanos ahora tienen que pagar a sus bancos para mantener el dinero en sus cuentas. NORWAY Norway was one of the last countries that reopened travel to Spain, and were thus outside the market for most of the pandemic. However, interest is rising again, and brokers and buyers reported that real estate transactions over video with digital viewing worked surprisingly well. It is projected that by summer 2022 the market will be back to 2019 levels. At present, according to the Norwegian Statistics Bureau, 27,346 Norwegians own property in Spain, spending an average of €4,800/sqm on their purchases. There was a 50% drop in purchases by Norwegians in Spain in 2020 over 2019, but demand for luxury properties is increasing with more people able to work remotely.
SWEDEN Swedish brokers are seeing a change in patterns among Swedish property buyers, with an increasing number of young buyers that would rather purchase a summer house in Spain than in Sweden. The classic Swedish buyer bought a house and moved to Spain after retirement. Thanks to the increase in remote work, more Swedes can also spend time in their second homes outside of holiday periods while still working at their jobs. Overall, the number of property transactions in Spain decreased by 17% between 2019 and 2020, but interest is rising again, with areas like the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca enjoying 8.4% more purchases in the past year than in 2020.

DENMARK Danes have the largest savings and net worth in the EU. In the first quarter of 2021 alone, Danes saved 11.9% of their net income, the highest level registered since the Danish Statistics Bureau began the measurement in 1995. 727 properties were bought in Spain in 2020, a decrease of 17.9% over the year prior. Though this represented the lowest percentage drop in purchases among Scandinavian buyers, the Danes still buy a lower overall volume than other northern countries. Given that Danes set records for the number of purchases in Spain in 2019, however, real estate agents are expecting an increase in property sales over the 2021-2022 winter.
UNITED KINGDOM UK buying trends have changed drastically as a result of pandemic restrictions, with power buyers demanding outdoor space near their homes, and an increasing number of buyers seeking a city “bolt hole” where they can sleep part of the working week in order to reduce their commute from their properties outside London. Prices remain high, but price growth is expected to slow going into the winter of 2021. Abroad, property markets in southern Europe are popular, driven by accumulated demand during the pandemic months and the continued attraction of a lower cost of living. Nonetheless, actual purchases post-Brexit can be easiest for those shopping in the luxury market who have cash reserves. Currently, a fifth of UK visa applications in Spain are for the Golden Visa, applicable if a buyer spends more than €500,000 on a property. This visa is quick to obtain and can be applied for from Spain. There will also soon be a “digital nomad” visa in place, which will allow remote workers from non-Spanish companies to live and work in Spain for 12 months, with the option to apply for residency for two years, then extend for another two years if so desired.

Esta visa es rápida de obtener y se puede solicitar desde España. Próximamente también habrá una visa de “nómada digital”, que permitirá a los trabajadores remotos de empresas extranjeras vivir y trabajar en España durante 12 meses, con la opción de solicitar la residencia por dos años y luego extenderla por otros dos si así lo desea.

Originally from Asturias, Spain, Almirante has more than 20 years of professional experience in the international luxury hotel sector, with over a decade spent with the Ritz-Carlton brand in 5 different properties across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

SHAKIRA AT ABAMA Abama Resort hosted Shakira and her crew in July as they filmed the music video for her latest single, "Don't Wait Up". The resulting video contains some truly iconic images of the island, is directed by Warren Fu and premiered officially on on the 16th of July.

The Tennis Center has had a spectacular autumn, hosting two professional tournaments that were broadcast internationally and attracted tennis fans from all over the continent. Both the Women’s Tennis Association and the Association of Tennis Professionals chose to hold important tournaments here, and the atmosphere was electric as we welcomed some of the world’s best players to Tenerife.

WTA 250 The WTA’s 250-level Tenerife Ladies Open was hosted by MEF Events at Abama between the 18th and the 24th of October, and the roster included top players like Elina Svitolina, Camila Giorgi, Alison Riske, and Tamara Zidansek. The tournament was a truly exciting one, featuring plenty of upsets that eventually led World No. 60-ranked American Ann Li to win the big prize.
El Tenerife Ladies Open WTA 250 fue organizado por MEF Events en Abama entre el 18 y el 24 de octubre, y la lista incluyó a grandes figuras internacionales como Elina Svitolina, Camila Giorgi, Alison Riske y Tamara Zidansek. El torneo fue realmente increíble, con muchas sorpresas que finalmente llevaron a la estadounidense Ann Li, número 60 del mundo, a ganar el gran premio.
ATP CHALLENGER Tennis excitement continued at Abama the first week of November as men’s tennis arrived for the ATP Tenerife Challenger. The tournament was hard fought and hard won, with players such as Altug Celikbilek, Fernando Verdasco, and Feliciano Lopez present and competing for a coveted spot on the ATP Tour for the upcoming season. The winner of the tournament was World No. 72 Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands. He’s had an incredible year, securing his place in the history books with this, his seventh Challenger Tour win in this season alone.
UPGRADES TO ABAMA TENNIS In other exciting Abama Tennis news, prior to the celebration of the WTA250 Tenerife Ladies Open and the ATP Challenger Tournaments, 3 new courts were prepared and painted to bring up their standards for play and broadcasting. In order to continue with the improvement of the facilities, the remaining 4 tennis courts will now be upgraded to the same standard as the tournament courts. Also, there are currently discussions in place for the planning and construction of a tennis clubhouse and we will bring you more news regarding this in the near future.
El ambiente deportivo continuó inundando nuestras pistas de tenis gracias al ATP Tenerife Challenger celebrado en la primera semana de noviembre. El torneo fue muy reñido y contó con importantes estrellas masculinas como Altug Celikbilek, Fernando Verdasco y Feliciano López luchando por un codiciado lugar en el ATP Tour para la próxima temporada. El ganador del torneo fue el Nº 72 del mundo, Tallon Griekspoor de Holanda quien ha tenido un año increíble y con este trofeo asegura su lugar en los libros de historia porque se trata de su séptima victoria en el Challenger Tour solo en esta temporada.
REMODELACIÓN DE ABAMA TENIS En otras noticias para Abama Tennis, antes de la celebración de los torneos WTA 250 Tenerife Ladies Open y ATP Challenger, se prepararon y pintaron 3 nuevas canchas para mejorar los estándares de juego y calidad de la transmisión. Para continuar con la remodelación de las instalaciones, las 4 canchas de tenis restantes se actualizarán al mismo nivel que las utilizadas durante los torneos. Además, está en proceso de planificación y construcción la nueva casa club de tenis. ¡Muy pronto os traeremos más novedades al respecto!
