Design an architecture hub for Manchester that gives the RIBA a presence in the city, and that
incorporates spaces for the practice, study and exhibition of architecture. Your design will
incorporate the cultural and historic value of extant architectural heritage with a contemporary
architectural programme.
The following accommodation is required. It is anticipated to have capacity for up to 50 people +
RIBA staff:
Office space for the RIBA (max. 5 people)
Space for exhibitions + space for architectural archive storage. Note – you should focus the
exhibition space on a particular type of exhibit, for example 2D gallery-style, 3D (eg.
models), or digital; and the appropriate type and quality of space and light
Seminar / lecture space (max. 50 people)
Private study / work spaces (max. 20 people)
Meeting / breakout space for architecture professionals / students
