Product development has been, and will always be, a continuous and highly prioritized process for us at Regatta. When we develop tomorrow’s flotation and rescue products, our core values are safety, comfort, and freedom of movement for the product user.
Located in Ålesund, the centre of Norway’s fishing and shipping industry, we have established close contacts with people and companies in the area. We also have a close collaboration with approval and testing authorities worldwide.
This collaboration, including our experience exchange, has given life to safe and innovative flotation suits, flotation- and lifejackets, as well as flotation clothing.
FLOTATION VESTS
Our flotation vests for children and adults are comfortable and safe, and provide both you and your child with the security you need on and near the water.

INFLATABLE LIFE JACKET
Inflatable life jackets consist of a protective cover with an inflatable lung inside. Put it on like a jacket before you fasten the belt around your waist and the crotch strap between your legs.
When the life jacket is immersed in water, it will automatically activate the lung inflation. Inflatable life jackets will turn you to an upright position and keep your head sufficiently above the water.
School age children who can swim may use a junior inflatable life jacket. Check that the belt and chest width of the life jacket are adapted to the child and fitted correctly.
Familiarize yourself with the life jacket and the activation mechanism. Curious children may often want to test and check out the functions. We therefore recommend that you check the junior life jacket before each use.

ONE STEP AHEAD. ALWAYS.
We've come a long way since our flotation suits were made in the 70s. Throughout the years, we have optimised the suits based on feedback from the users. Earlier, the original Regatta suits weighed approx. 3 kg. Today, our suits weigh from 1.4 kg, without compromise when it comes to buoyancy, thermal properties, durability, or safety.
THERMAL PROPERTIES
All flotation suits are ISO-certified in terms of buoyancy, and they have also undergone and passed the latest and most comprehensive tests regarding thermal properties. With their low weight and high level of comfort, our flotation suits make it easier for you to stay warm and enjoy activities at sea.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT FLOTATION SUIT
The flotation suits all have the same excellent buoyancy properties, but differ from each other when it comes to equipment.

THE FISHERMAN COLLECTION
For years, the oilskins have been the fisherman's work clothing and protection against the elements. The work should preferably go quickly, and safety was often sacrificed for comfort and mobility. The Fisherman collection is an excellent alternative to the traditional work clothing without buoyancy properties.

OILSKIN WITH FLOTATION PROPERTIES
Fisherman flotation trousers have become an important milestone in the work for preventing accidents at sea. The trousers provide the fishermen with safety through the built-in flotation element and offer a dry and comfortable working day wearing rain gear with oil-resistant properties. If an accident should occur and you fall overboard, the Fisherman trousers will keep you afloat and make a confusing situation easier to handle.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LIFE JACKET
FLOTATION VEST - 50N
A flotation vest is a vest with a solid flotation material. The vest has no collar to support the head. During use, the vest will keep you afloat in a standing position. Flotation vests are made for people who can swim and stay near the shore.
LIFE JACKET - 100N
A life jacket with solid flotation material is a vest with a collar. It contains a solid buoyancy material that keeps you afloat. The life jacket's task is to turn you on your back in an upright position, while the collar keeps your head sufficiently above water. Life jackets are particularly suitable for children and adults who cannot swim. It is recommended to choose a life jacket rather than a flotation vest if you will be taking trips far from the shore.
INFLATABLE LIFE JACKET - 150N
Inflatable lifejackets consist of a protective cover with an inflatable lung inside. Put the life jacket on like a jacket, then fasten the belt around your waist and the crotch strap between your legs. When the life jacket is immersed in water, it will automatically activate the lung inflation. An inflatable life jacket will turn you on your back in an upright position and keep your head sufficiently above the water. It is best suited for older children and adults who can swim. The life jacket may also be released manually by pulling the string or be inflated using the oral tube.
THE SIZE OF THE CHILD'S LIFE JACKET
Every year, the child should try on the life jacket so you can ensure that the fit and weight class are correct. We do not recommend buying the life jacket too large to let the child grow into it. If you’re unsure whether your child’s life jacket still fits, we recommend checking it in the water.
Example: The child weighs 1-2 kg more than the life jacket’s weight class, but it still fits well. If that’s the case, let your child jump into the water while wearing their life jacket, preferably with clothes on. If the life jacket still fits, it should turn the child on its back and provide an upright floating position. The collar should keep the child’s head above the surface of the water.
CLASSIFICATIONS AND BUOYABILITY
BUOYABILITY
The buoyability is measured in newton (N). To classify the buoyability of different life jackets and flotation aids, the term newton (N) is used as an international unit of measure for force. 1 kg = 9,81N. This indicates the buoyancy. The weight of the body in water is far from the weight on shore, and the need for buoyancy is therefore not equivalent to the body weight in kg. A product with 50N buoyancy is sufficient to keep an adult person afloat.
50N ISO 12402-5 / EN 393
Flotation vests, flotation jackets and flotation suits. Provide a vertical floating position. For swimmers only, used in protected waters, with help nearby.
100N ISO 12402-4 / EN 395
Life jackets with safety colour and reflectors. Must be able to turn a person into a position. People who cannot swim must always wear a life jacket.
150N ISO 12402-3 / EN 396
Inflatable life jackets. Coastal waters and offshore, combined with cold weather clothing. Not suitable if using heavy tools or equipment.
275N ISO 12402-2 / EN 399
Inflatable life jackets for use offshore, in industries with extreme conditions and on board ships. May be used together with sturdy protective clothing, most survival suits and safety harnesses.
THE LIFE JACKET’S ANATOMY
Manual release cord
To give your inflatable life jacket as long a lifespan as possible and maintain its quality, maintenance is important. Inflatable life jackets consist of components that require regular inspection and replacement, in addition to washing and proper storage. Above, you can see the different components of an inflatable life jacket, so you can easily check it and change parts if necessary.

MAINTENANCE PROVIDES SECURITY
In order for your life jacket to have a long lifespan and maintain its quality, maintenance is important. In addition to making sure that your buoyancy aid or life jacket is in good condition before use, you should also do thorough inspections annually.
That is especially important with inflatable life jackets, as they consist of components that might require replacement from time to time.
CHECK YOUR FLOATATION VEST AND LIFE JACKET
Flotation vests and life jackets with rigid foam have a fixed buoyancy element. You should check them annually to ensure that the seams, belt, and crotch straps are intact and working properly. Remember to use a buoyancy aid with a weight class adapted to your own weight.
CHECK YOUR INFLATABLE LIFE JACKET
Inflatable life jackets have parts that require inspection and possibly replacement.
Before use: Look for damages to the life jacket’s cover. Open the cover and check the lung, the CO₂ cylinder, and the cartridge. Make sure the CO₂ cylinder is attached properly and check the expiry date on the cartridge.
Annually: Make sure the life jacket’s lung doesn’t leak. You do this by inflating the life jacket using the oral tube and leaving it overnight. If the lung works properly, you can deflate it and fold it up. Before you close the cover, check the weight of the CO₂ cylinder and the expiry date on the cartridge.
Every second year: The cartridge has a lifespan of 3 years. To be sure that the life jacket works as it should, we recommend changing the cartridge every second year. Improper storage of the life jacket may reduce its quality.
CHECK YOUR CHILD'S LIFE JACKET
Children grow in leaps and bounds, so it is important to check that the size of the life jacket still fits your child from season to season. The life jacket is marked with the appropriate weight class. You should also check that click buckles, crotch straps, and cords are intact and working properly.
Not sure if last year’s life jacket still fits your child? We recommend checking the life jacket in the water. Example: The child weighs 1-2 kg more than the life jacket’s weight class, but it still fits well on his/her body. If that’s the case, you can let your child jump into the water while wearing his/her life jacket, preferably with clothes on. If it still fits, it should turn the child on its back and provide an upright floating position. The collar should keep the child’s head above the surface of the water.
Older (school age) children who are able to swim may use a junior inflatable life jacket. The life jackets are checked in the same way as inflatable life jackets for adults. Curious children will often test and check out the features. We recommend that you inspect your child’s life jacket before each use.
CHECKLIST FOR YOUR INFLATABLE LIFE JACKET
Make sure your life jacket does not provide any false safety.
STEP 1:
Check for visible damages to the protective cover, belt, and crotch strap.
Step 2:
Open the cover and make sure there are no damages to the lung, CO₂ cylinder, cartridge, and oral tube.
Step 4:
Check the expiry date on the cartridge and replace it if needed.
Step 7:
Write the date of your inspection in the service booklet.
Step 5:
Inflate the lung and leave it overnight. If the lung is still inflated the next day, you can deflate it.
Step 8:
Clean the protective cover if necessary.
Step 3:
Ensure that the CO₂ cylinder has the correct weight. This number should be engraved on the cylinder itself.
Step 6:
If the lung does not hold the air, the life jacket cannot be used.
Step 9:
Double check that the CO₂ cylinder is properly attached to the inflation system and fold the lung according to instructions in the user manual. Close the protective cover.
