Recently, 4KIDS Training and Licensing Manager, Christal Neal, had the opportunity to share TBRI principles with the entire Kid’s Team at Victory Church. TBRI stands for Trust-Based Relational Intervention, and it is the foundation of 4KIDS EPIC Therapeutic Approach (EPIC). Developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis, TBRI teaches caregivers and anyone who works with children how to effectively connect, empower, and correct children who have experienced trauma.

“The team was very engaged and shared some great tools they’re already implementing across their program. It was encouraging to know that learning new ways to best serve children is a priority for their Lead Pastor and others on their leadership team.” - Christal Neal

Back in August, 4KIDS EPIC Clinicians, Meiby Nodarse and Maria Silva, taught EPIC to teachers from both Atlantic Christian Academy and Parkridge Christian Academy! Between the two schools, 140 staff were trained in traumainformed care, and over 1,400 students will be positively impacted!

However you may interact with children on a regular basis, it’s important to be aware of how a child’s past experiences can impact the way they think, learn, and process emotions. Thanks to these trainings, more educators and childcare volunteers in our community are equipped to approach conversations and relationships with children that come from hard places.
