Family Holiday Traditions
The holidays are right around the corner, which means it’s time for beloved traditions, cozy nights, and quality time with loved ones. We chatted with a few of our 4KIDS Foster and Adoptive Families and asked them what some of their favorite holiday traditions are. Check out what they said!
“Our family traditions are baking cookies, driving around looking at Christmas lights, we watch the holiday boat parade, snuggle with popcorn to watch Christmas movies, we go to church on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day our extended family gets together and we have a gingerbread house competition. It’s messy and chaotic and hilarious!”
– Amy and James Twigger
“Sometimes towards the end of December and before the New Year comes, we put a jar full of goals and wishes for ourselves and household, then share it with each other. We also review last year’s jar and see what we accomplished. We pick out a new Christmas ornament each year that has to be based on something significant from the current year with each person. It also can only be garnet or gold in color, unless it’s handmade from the kids.”
– Melissa Anderson
Melissa is also teaching her kids to give back during the Christmas season by having them pick out gifts to bring to others in need and blessing another family with a home-cooked meal they prepare together. What a joy it is to know that 4KIDS Foster and Adoptive Parents like Amy, James, and Melissa are creating beautiful memories with their children and making a life-long impact.
