Get to know: Jose Luis Palma In this edition, lets get to know Jose Luis Palma, ECO SMO Leader.

Where do you live? I work in 3M St. Paul and live in Woodbury, Minnesota.

How long have you worked for 3M? 28 years.

I joined 3M in Mexico although I was born in Peru.

What have you felt most proud of accomplishing?

I am proud of all the people I have been able to support achieve their goals, get promoted, or take on a transformational project with a major impact. I also feel proud of having lived and worked in three Areas with many amazing and talented people. The reality is people are more the same than different. Despite cultural differences, everyone wants to belong, contribute, feel valued, and grow. On a personal level, I am proud of being married to Claudia – just had our 20th year anniversary this past October – and the family we have formed together.

Tell us about your family, who you live with? Both Claudia and I come from large families with lots of nieces/nephews. We are fortunate to have three wonderful children: Santiago (18 yrs. old), a senior in high school who is busy applying to colleges; Isabella (15 yrs.) a sophomore and avid tennis player; Alessia (13 yrs. old) who loves dance and lacrosse.

What is your hidden talent? I asked my family on this one, they had a laugh, and gave me a list…1) I can fall asleep anywhere with any noise around in 30 seconds 😊, 2) I enjoy making breakfast for the family and they really love my omelets, 3) I took up running a decade ago and just ran another marathon. They see this as a “hidden talent” since they rarely see me running as I do it very early in the morning.

What things do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Spending time with family and friends; exercising; listening to music and going to concerts; reading; travelling to new places - I feel I grow a little more every time I go to a new place, learn, and meet different people.

What is your favorite place to visit and why? Rome - the city is like one big museum; love the Italian culture, food, and people.

Would you Rather – winter or summer for the rest of your life and why? This is a tough one as I like both running and skiing. If I had to choose, I would say summer...it allows me to do more outdoor activities (cookouts, go to the lake, sports) with family and friends.

If money was no issue at all, what would you buy? A large cruise and invite all my friends and 3M colleagues (I figure all ECO Global should fit 😊) to have fun and visit great new places!

For the RO – PR – POD - Carrier returns team now, more than ever we believe that as the world continues to run in a remote basis, there is a big opportunity to find ways to connect and bond together in person.

Making these spaces create camaraderie and increase the possibilities of a better work environment.

This quarter for our team engagement activity we went bowling!

Besides the excitement of playing together as a team, going out to an out-of-work activity, motivated everyone to have fun and live the 3M element of cultivating a connected community!
