Vice President, IBO.
Dear IBO Team,
As we reflect on the past months, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the remarkable achievements we have accomplished throughout the year. Our journey continues to be nothing short of transformative and exciting.
The year 2024 has been marked by volatile economies, various geopolitical dynamics, and continued social unrest, all of which have impacted our operations in one way or another. Despite these challenges, IBO has successfully confronted and adapted to them, enabling another solid year for the company.
Looking back and reflecting on some of the great milestones that IBO was able to deliver, I believe we achieved (amongst many other milestones) to:
- Re-define our organization structure to enhance the way that we enable growth for the the Corporation.
Customer Facing, Customer Enabling, MTDE, Global Channel Services and the newly created CSOE (Corporate Services and Operational Excellence) pillars were established with the main goal to better serve our customers, and, as a way to create greater End to End efficiencies for the corporation by centralizing, standardizing and globalizing processes across the globe.
- Re-brand our organization to Integrated Business Operations (IBO), a name that represents our commitment to driving excellence and delivering value across all facets of 3M operations.
customers but most importantly; in evolving our organization to be a “best in class” organization in the way we serve our customers. I am confident that our continued efforts will lead to even greater advancements in the months and years to come.
- We have launched several Employee Experience (EX) initiatives, including the Education Support Program and Wellbeing360. These programs are designed to support your personal and professional growth, ensuring that you have the resources and opportunities to thrive in all aspects of your life.
- We welcomed two VERY important functions to our awesome IBO organization: Material Data Management (MDM) and Cash Application. These two areas perfectly compliment our End to End processes and make IBO not only more relevant to the overall organization but enhance the way we operate. Super big welcome to the teams!
- We continue to make progress in the largest company wide deployment system-ini-
- We continue to make progress in truly becoming a Global Organization. We introduced a new initiative that aims to increase the connectivity with our Areas and Functions by hosting our Quarterly TownHalls across the world. For me personally, this has been an AMAZING experience… We hosted our first-ever ‘around the globe, global townhall’ in EMEA and all what I can say is that I am so proud of this team! I feel this was a great success and I felt we were more connected with our IBOers across the globe.
- We have had many connections and Moments that Matter with great visits to our teams in China, Japan, Philippines, India, UK and Poland. Thank you to our teams for making us feel so welcomed and special thanks to everyone involved in making these visits so very effective and successful. Sooo looking forward to our next interactions and connections in 2025.
These are just a few of the many milestones we have achieved, and I am incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work that each of you has contributed. As we look ahead, I am pleased to welcome you to this ‘light’ edition of our magazine, serving as a prelude to a fresh new approach that we will unveil in 2025.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment and passion. Together, we are building a brighter future for our organization and the customers we serve.
You all should be proud of what you have achieved as a critical Central Organization, as individuals but most importantly as ONE TEAM (the best team that I can ask for…) !
Keep doing great things,
We're excited to share suite of enhancements for the bCom platform to improve both service and customer experience. The new Service Automation 3.0 functionality will improve order access for customers as well as provide the ability to self-solve order issues. The first phase kicks off on November 18th for a select group of customers in the US and UK.
What's New? Here Are the Highlights:
The first phase of this rollout brings some exciting new features to make customer interactions with 3M even better.
• Tailored Notifications for Better Engagement
Introducing the new Notification Preference Center! This feature allows our customers to add customized notification settings so they receive updates that matter most to them. It is all about keeping customers engaged and satisfied with timely and relevant information.
• Streamlined Order Management
Our upgraded Order Management system now makes it quick and easy for customers to check their order status and get detailed info with the improved Order Status and Order Details features. Plus, the new Global Navigation system makes browsing bCom a breeze, helping customers find what they need quickly and easily.
• Efficient Resolution of Order Issues
We've developed new solutions to help customers quickly resolve common order issues like invalid materials, price discrepancies, incorrect units of measure, and incorrect quantities (IOQ & MOQ). They can also request cancellations of orders and order lines as needed.
• Accessible Documentation for Enhanced Support
We know how important documentation is, so we've made key documents like Purchase Order Acknowledgments, Reacknowledgements, Invoices, and Packing Lists easy to access. This enhancement is about giving our customers the resources they need right at their fingertips.
Looking Ahead: Future Phases of Deployment
This is just the beginning! The next phases of deployment start in January, bringing these streamlined new features to even more customers. We're confident these enhancements will make the overall experience with 3M even better and streamline our service processes.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to take the bCom experience to the next level.
Purpose of the visit: The primary goal of the visit was to gain an outside-in perspective, understand industry benchmarks, engage with customers and people. The team had the unique opportunity to visit shop floors, witnessing firsthand the capabilities and daily life of an agent. They observed how principles like lean, design thinking, and agile methodologies are applied to solve some of the toughest of industry problems. Discussions also revolved around marketing and digital experience trends, the influence of AI, and its positive impact on the lives of agents.
Key learnings: End-to-End View: Having a comprehensive view is crucial for problem-solving. Often, the root cause lies upstream and downstream.
Continuous Improvement: Seek ways to improve or automate processes without the fear of losing out.
Customer Connection: Staying connected with customers with continuously seeking feedback provides a constant stream of improvement ideas.
Learning and AI: Leveraging and understanding AI on how it can be applied within operations is vital for continuous improvement.
Culture of Belonging: With people returning to office and fostering a culture of belonging, collaboration, and connection is more important than ever.
Memorable moments: Throughout the visit, there were numerous opportunities to connect and network with the senior leadership team over lunch, dinner, and while traveling. These moments provided invaluable advice, perspectives, and learning from their experiences. The three days culminated in an IBO leadership connect session, a moment that will be cherished by many. It was a time of fun, sharing vision, best practices from the country, and engaging in interesting questions and leadership perspectives.
Highlights: The recent Executive Management Visit (EMV) to India with Karina Chavez (Group President CBG & IBO), Chris LeBlanc (SVP - IBO), and Angel Montpetit (Sr Director Corporate Services and Ops Excellence IBO) was a whirlwind of excitement, learning, and connection. Over the course of three days, we embarked on a journey that was both enriching and enlightening. The visit was packed with meetings with industry-leading experts, customers, and, of course, the IBO India Team.
Conclusion: Overall, the visit was incredibly fruitful, providing a wealth of knowledge and insights. The team is certainly looking forward to many more such connects in the future, as they continue to learn, grow, and improve.

From October 7 to 11, IBO celebrated it’s Appreciation Week, a global initiative to recognize and appreciate the invaluable contributions of our employees. The week began with leadership videos featuring motivational messages and included YamJam Day, interactive Q&A sessions with leaders, along with Global EDW cards and recognitions.
To promote health and well-being, wellness activities such as Zumba and yoga classes were organized, along with a photobooth day with crazy props and informal coffee chats. The mobile competition and TikTok Appreciation Showcase allowed employees to display their creativity and talents, adding excitement to the week.
The celebration also included a virtual cooking contest, a scavenger hunt, an IBO Post-It Appreciation Wall, and food sharing among peers, fostering community and gratitude. IBO Appreciation Week was a resounding success, highlighting the importance of each employee’s role and reinforcing that they truly matter to the organization.
We are trialing a new initiative that aims to foster a stronger sense of unity, cooperation, and, most importantly, trust among team members and their leaders. We aim to improve team dynamics, boost morale, and enhance our overall collaboration and productivity by engaging in interactive and fun exercise. In this trial phase, we will be running IBO day for countries with a headcount of 65 or more IBO Team Members.
